Chapter 58 Your aunt has grown legs, she doesn't need to carry you anymore.

"Egg, can we eat this shell?"

Zhang Tong picked up half a bucket of mantis shrimp, then looked up and saw the little girl with her bottom sticking out, staring at a big rock.

The sun was dazzling and the waves were surging. She couldn't see clearly or hear what the question was, so she had to get up and walk over.

Upon seeing this, they were overjoyed.

What huge oysters!

She loves oyster porridge with some shredded meat and chopped green onions; it's sweet and delicious.

I noticed that the little girl's brows were furrowed into a deep frown.

Despite clearly disliking it, I stubbornly wanted to know what it was.

She explained it with amusement.

"This is called an oyster. Open the shell and you'll find meat inside. You can use it to cook porridge or noodles, or stir-fry it."

"You can also fry it with flour into pancakes, add some chopped green onions, it's very fragrant, Shishi, do you want to eat it?"

Hearing how delicious it smelled, how could a foodie not want to eat it?

Her brow relaxed, and she nodded firmly. "I want to eat."

Zhang Tong smiled and took the small shovel he had brought.

"Then use this shovel to put it into the bucket, pick out the loose ones that are easy to pry open, don't use your hands, you'll prick yourself."

She demonstrated by prying open two, then handed the shovel to Zhou Shi to pry open herself.

When Yao Lixiang arrived with four young soldiers, Zhang Tong's two buckets were full. One bucket was full of oysters, and the other was full of mantis shrimp, with a large grouper lying on top.

Zhang Tong picked up two more ribbonfish, one angelfish, some shrimp, and a few crabs and put them into Yao Lixiang's bucket, which was now full.

They separated the rest into several piles, keeping the fish separate from the shrimp from the crabs.

Nobody's here. There's too much seafood, and a lot of it is loose, so let them pick it up themselves.

She was thinking of coming back tomorrow to collect some small fish and shrimp to fry for Zhou Shi as a snack, since she had just rendered a block of lard at home.

"Hello, sister-in-law."

The four greenhorns saluted Zhang Tong.

Zhang Tong waved his hand, telling them to hurry up and fill the barrels.

"There's a lot of stuff here, and you don't have enough buckets. Should we go back and ask someone to bring some more?"

One of the dark-skinned men grinned sheepishly and said:

"Thank you for piling us all together, sister-in-law. You don't need to trouble yourself. We'll just make a couple more trips later."

The tide has just receded, and there's still plenty of time before the next high tide; there's no need to worry about running out of time.

With so much food, the soldiers can have a big meal today. We can also make some pickled dishes to go with their porridge for breakfast.

However, I've been here a few times before, and there wasn't as much seafood, plus it was a long journey, so I eventually stopped wanting to go.

Why is today so unusual?
