Chapter 656 Are we being slaughtered like fat pigs?

Chen Haoyu was about to lead Xie Lin and the others to find his brother-in-law when, halfway there, he heard screams coming from the direction of their residence, which sounded like his father-in-law's voice.

He turned pale with fright and, ignoring the people behind him, rushed towards his residence as fast as he could.

Seeing this, Xie Lin and the principal quickly followed.

Xie Lin was aware of the situation.

The two principals were unaware of this and were deeply worried.

All the workers on the construction site stopped what they were doing and left in response.

They were all silently praying that something bad was going to happen. Supporting their families was not easy, and if they stopped working, they wouldn't be able to get their wages on time.

Kong Guoliang, who was the closest to the family, was the first to arrive. He rushed into the house and saw his father lying on the ground with no one else around. He was relieved.

Just as he was about to help the person up, his sharp eyes caught sight of the ledgers on the table. His pupils contracted sharply, and he hurriedly ran over to pick up one of them.

A gust of wind blew by, and my back felt chilly, as if a hand was tugging at me.

I turned around abruptly, but couldn't see anything.

strangeness.

Afraid that someone might come over, he disregarded everything else and reached for the ledger. A young man rushed in.

It was Chen Haoyu who had arrived earlier.

"Brother, did something happen to Father-in-law? Where is he? Oh, why is he lying on the ground? Brother, Father-in-law fainted, why didn't you help him up?"

After being asked four questions in a row, Kong Guoliang hurriedly withdrew his hand.

"I just came in too. I didn't see Dad earlier. Brother-in-law, go and call the school doctor. I'll stay here and watch over Dad. Hurry up."

Chen Haoyu was anxious, but he didn't see anything strange, nor did he notice that the two figures had left before him.

He said "Oh" and ran out, bumping right into Xie Lin and the others who came in after him.

“Principals, my father-in-law has fainted for some reason. I’m going to call the school doctor to take a look at him.”

Vice Principal Li waved for him to hurry up and pulled Xue Chen along anxiously toward the location of Kong's father.

Principal Shen's sharp eyes were fixed on Kong Guoliang.

"What are you doing? Your dad fainted, why aren't you taking care of him right away?"

Kong Guoliang was extremely panicked, but perhaps because he was used to tampering with things, he still had a tiny bit of composure.

“Principal, I just came in and saw my dad lying on the ground. I was a little scared and my legs were weak, so I leaned on the table and chair to steady myself.”

As he spoke, he glanced at the ledger.

Only he knew that his legs went weak because he was afraid of the real ledger being revealed.

He cursed Chen Haoyu inwardly for ruining his plans. He hadn't even had time to hide the ledger, and now he was in such a hurry to collect it, which only aroused more suspicion.

He simply collapsed to the ground, demonstrating that his legs were truly weak.

There's nothing to fear as long as no one gets close to the table.

Principal Shen looked away and went to see Mr. Kong, who was being helped to bed.

Xie Lin then went to help Kong Guoliang.

"Comrade, are you alright? Don't worry, the school doctors are very capable, your dad will definitely be fine."

"Chou Chou, move that chair with a backrest behind the table over for this comrade to sit on."

"Comrade, come here, let me help you up."

"No, no, no need. I can manage on my own. There's no need to trouble you."

The two brothers, however, were extremely kind-hearted and each did their own thing.

Kong Guoliang's face turned even paler, and he glanced at Chou Chou out of the corner of his eye.

Ugly picked up a chair, and accidentally, the chair leg poked his instep.

"Ouch, brother, my foot got scratched by the chair leg."

He fell onto the table, landing squarely on the two ledgers.

Kong Guoliang's heart was in his throat.

"Young man, are you alright? I don't need to sit on the chair. Come out here, and the school doctor will check your foot later."

He secretly prayed that he wouldn't see the ledger, or if he did, he wouldn't understand it.

Ugly lay there, refusing to get up. "It's okay, I'll just rest here. I'm tough and don't need to see a doctor."

He lowered his head accordingly.

"Oh, brother, what's this? A purchase order! So this is a purchase order."

"Brother, come and take a look! We need to buy materials but we don't know the prices. Here are some samples."

“Vice Principal Li said that the purchasing agent is his relative’s relative by marriage, so the price will definitely be very reasonable. If we negotiate based on this price, we can save a lot of money.”

Kong Guoliang dared not back down. He stood up abruptly and reached out to push Chou Chou aside and snatch the ledger.

He also spouted a string of lies, saying, "These are the construction site's bills. Outsiders can't see them. If they get out, it will damage the construction team's reputation. Give them to me now."

Ugly said "Oh," but then held up a small piece of paper that had been burned down to a stub, still covered in ash.

Coincidentally, the price of the paper was the same as the price per ton of river sand.

"Hey brother, this is also a bill. Why are you burning it? It's all river sand, why isn't the price..."

"Give it to me now, outsiders can't see it!" Kong Guoliang roared as he tried to snatch it.

Chou Chou picked up two ledgers and threw them at Xie Lin.

"Brother, remember the price, don't get ripped off."

"Okay, sure."

“Brother, we’re not strangers; we’re related to Vice Principal Li.”

"You must be related to Vice Principal Li, right? Then we're related in a roundabout way. It's okay to take a look."

Ugly replied on his behalf: "That's right, we're relatives."

The two brothers sang in unison.

At this moment, a crowd of workers gathered at the entrance, asking questions all at once, but no one answered.

The large group of six, being small in stature, squeezed in through the gaps between their legs and squatted in the front row to watch the show.

The six of them looked around but didn't see their mother and uncle, who were always up to no good, which was a bit strange.

Xie Lin didn't care whether Kong Guoliang's face was white or black; he started looking at the latest page.

Father Kong tore off the front of the bill, but the back was still neatly arranged; it was the bill for the building materials they had recently purchased.

Comparing the left and right sides, the prices are worlds apart.
