"Hello everyone, I registered my marriage here. We didn't give out wedding candy at the wedding, so we're giving it to you now."
"Thank you for your hard work, staff. Here's a handful of candy for each of you to sweeten your mouths. Wishing you good health and a happy family."
"You're both registered for marriage, right? Grab a handful of things for yourself. Wishing you a happy marriage and a long and happy life together."
A wealthy, washed-up bride changed into an exquisite dress and was handing out candy at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
At the divorce counter, only one couple was processing their case; it was He Zhaodi. She was adamant and insisted on getting a divorce no matter how the staff tried to persuade her.
In this day and age, getting a divorce requires immense courage.
Especially women.
The idea that men are the head of the household is a deeply ingrained belief held by women throughout history.
It will take countless years to reverse this mindset of inequality.
Judging from her name, you can tell she comes from a family that favors sons over daughters. It's truly admirable that she has such courage; she's a remarkable woman and deserves to be saved.
Embracing everyone's gratitude, Shishi walked over with the candy, smiling as she grabbed a handful and gave it to the staff.
"Sister, here are some extra candies for you. You've worked the hardest."
The heavily bitten "most" character amused the staff, and the pretty girl's smile was equally charming. Everyone is willing to give a friendly look, and she laughed:
"Comrade, thank you for the candy. We're all in the same boat."
Shishi smiled meaningfully, "It's different. Marriage is about harmony. Whether someone is a good person or a bad one, only time will tell."
"You're processing a divorce here, saying it's due to incompatibility. But no one knows why you're incompatible. Anyway, there's always one party who's unfit to be a human being, don't you think?"
Staff: ...Is it really okay for you to be so blunt?
Zhao Tiejun frowned, feeling that this person was being sarcastic towards him, but since the other party hadn't said it outright, he couldn't retaliate.
He was rambling on and on, trying to get a good look at the person who was coming, but when he looked up, he was utterly amazed by their beauty.
So beautiful, so fair-skinned.
He was at a loss for words, and could only think of these two words to describe it.
Dressed so elegantly, she must be a girl from a good family. When did such a beauty appear in town?
"Comrade, it's my wife who wants a divorce, and I disagree."
Shishi ignored him, demonstrating through her actions that divorced people don't deserve to eat wedding candy.
The staff thought that was the end of it, but they didn't expect there to be something even more explicit.
"When I came in, I saw a woman dressed like a ghost outside, peeking inside, looking in this direction."
This is practically a direct statement that the man in the divorce proceedings is unfit to be a human being.
The staff had seen all sorts of couples arguing, and being quick-witted, they understood immediately.
However, since this couple came in, it has always been the woman who insisted on getting a divorce, while the man tried to persuade her not to, which to outsiders seemed like the woman was being unreasonable.
So it turns out that I didn't understand the whole picture.
This man has probably been having an affair with another woman for a long time, and his current attempt to keep her is just for show, or perhaps he has a deeper scheme in mind.
She didn't try to persuade her any further and swiftly completed the divorce proceedings.
Men want to have women on both sides, but they don't want to be condemned by society. They also want to use their male chauvinism to control their wives and make them serve the whole family.
That's a nice idea.
A woman's freedom should not be confined to a piece of paper.
Thud~
The divorce certificate has been issued.
Zhao Tiejun's outstretched hand froze in mid-air, unwilling to accept that the formalities were completed just like that.
Just as I stamped the seal, an old lady ran in.
"You can't get a divorce, you can't get a divorce, Zhao Di, are you confused? Once you're my daughter-in-law, you'll always be my daughter-in-law. I will never agree to your divorce."
“Zhaodi, everyone in the village knows what your family is like. You can’t go back after the divorce. You have no job and no land. How are you going to survive?”
"Tiejun said that once he makes a lot of money outside, he will take us, mother and daughter, to the big city to live a good life."
"Listen to your mother, stop making a scene and let outsiders laugh at you. Come home. From now on, I will treat you like my own daughter. If Tie Jun dares to bully you, I will never forgive him."
He Zhaodi quickly obtained her divorce certificate and sneered.
"Excuse me, I'm no longer your daughter-in-law. If you want someone to serve you, look, there's one over there by the door."
They talk a good game but sing a bad game.
Should we take her to a big city to live a better life?
This pancake is so big and round, it's even more eye-catching than the moon on the fifteenth of August.
If the person eavesdropping outside the door had hidden further away, she would have actually believed it.
The staff member had an "I knew it" look on his face and breathed a huge sigh of relief.
Fortunately, I didn't hesitate any longer. If I had been even half a minute more confused, the old lady would have delayed me.
The old woman's face fell; she couldn't believe they'd divorced so quickly.
She rushed over after receiving the news, but not to see the divorce certificate.
With his triangular eyes wide open, he was about to snatch the divorce certificate.
As long as it's torn up, there's no divorce.
The son is going out to make big money. If He Zhaodi, this beast of burden, runs away, who will take care of this frail and sickly old woman?
No, absolutely not!
No matter how hard she ran, she couldn't reach He Zhaodi. She just kept running in place, waving her hands around, which looked rather comical.
She didn't realize that someone was pulling on her clothes until someone burst out laughing in the hall.
Turning my head, I saw a little girl who was only about five years old. She had a very strong grip, and even though she was holding onto the hem of my clothes, she didn't blush at all. Her face was expressionless.
"What are you doing? Let go of me, I need to go and persuade my daughter-in-law to stay."
