Extra Chapter 6: My Heart Is in My Belly

When I got back to my building, I realized it was difficult to carry the child up the stairs; it was the first time I had ever taken the stairs.

The four- or five-year-old child was eerily quiet, his eyes devoid of any light; it was heartbreaking.

Hehe. [Are you hungry? Shishi will give you some food.]

He huffed and puffed his way downstairs, and came back with his head drooping.

I forgot, we're out of food.

Oh, I forgot, little people all love toys.

She slapped her forehead, then huffed and puffed her way downstairs. This time, she came back up with her teeth showing – white teeth, and no fishy smell in her mouth.

The child's numb eyes followed her movements for a moment, but he didn't move.

He was thinking: When are you going to eat me?

Being cooked to be eaten by humans must be very painful.

My old friend was in the pot. The first time I saw it, I was terrified and threw up. The second time I saw it, I was still terrified. But after seeing it many times, I gradually became numb to it.

He knew his turn would come eventually, and today it finally arrived. Then the zombie sister took him away, and he wouldn't be cooked anymore.

If you get eaten by a zombie, you don't need to cook it; it just tears you apart and you die. It shouldn't hurt that much.

Toys were handed to the child all at once, and the child held his head high, waiting for praise.

See? Corpse knows what little humans like. Praise Corpse for being so clever!

After waiting for a while without any sound, the corpse looked down and saw the little human staring blankly at it.

That silly look seemed familiar.

The corpse was dumbfounded.

Don't you like toys?

There were toy cars, spinning tops, and even fake bread...

Glug glug~~

The corpse stared blankly at the little human's belly for a long time before it reacted.

【You're really hungry! What are we going to do? We're out of food! That pesky egg has taken all the food!】

She ran off again, intending to find some food.

When the little human is hungry, he needs to be fed, just like her; when she's hungry, she looks for ugly zombies.

Just as I went downstairs, Chou Chou came back, carrying a bag with potato chips, shrimp crackers, and lollipops inside, but no shopping cart.

The corpse was a little worried and asked cautiously, "Is it okay if I'm a little human?"

Without any beginning or end, Chou Chou, looking a bit dim-witted, asked, "What little human?"

[The little stinky man, not the big stinky man, the big bad guy wanted to eat him, but the corpse kidnapped him.]

Ugly was terrified; she hadn't been watching her child for a moment and he'd set off a bomb.

"Is he powerful? What if he pretends to be a pig and eats zombies?"

Even small humans can awaken powerful superpowers.

The corpse bared its teeth and shook its head.

No, he's so stupid, he wouldn't even run away if he wanted to make soup.

[The corpse isn't stupid; it won't seek death.]

Ugly gave the guy who was strutting around asking for praise a deep look with the white of his eyes, and couldn't bear to look at him. He carried the grain upstairs.

With another natural enemy, the child trembled slightly, but otherwise showed no other expression.

This is a child who has resolved to die.

Humanity's tragedy is not only caused by zombies, but also by the sins of humanity itself.

A bag of potato chips was handed to the child. "Eat it, we won't eat you."

The child's thirst for food gave him a glimmer of hope, and he instinctively wanted to seize any opportunity to become a satiated ghost.

"Can I eat this?"

The sound was hoarse, probably because he hadn't drunk water or spoken for a long time.

Ugly grabbed his chin roughly and forcefully, then shoved some of the supernatural water into his mouth.

There was nothing I could do; we didn't have any cups or bowls at home, and I couldn't put my finger in his mouth.

Sensing the sweetness, the child instinctively wanted more.

There are water-type ability users in the team, but there are too many people and not enough water.

He was a lamb to the slaughter, a helpless weakling who deserved no help, and he didn't deserve to waste water; he hadn't had any water in a long time.

His parents, despite having plenty to eat and drink, neglected him and scolded him as a burden.

Perhaps it's because of his flesh that they can't bear to throw him away.

Suddenly I feel like crying.

Shishi didn't know why his eyes were wet. Seeing that his hands were dirty, she asked Chou Chou to wash them for him.

Ugly had no choice but to do as instructed.

Even humans aren't as particular as you, a zombie.

The child finally got to eat potato chips, and the crunchy bite made Shishi's mouth water.

【Is it tasty?】

The child couldn't receive brainwaves; after a few pills, his stomach stopped growling, but his mouth started making noises.

She burst into tears.

Ugly walked a little further away, and Corpse was at a loss.

What's wrong? Doesn't it taste good? It's delicious! Humans are fighting over it!

She was so anxious that she kept pacing around in circles, making Chou Chou dizzy.

Ugly couldn't help but grab her by the back of her collar. "Don't turn him around. He's upset. Let him cry. He'll be fine after he's cried."

The corpse froze for a moment.

【Why?】

What else could it be?

His parents don't want him, and humans want to stew him. Why shouldn't he cry?

He didn't say that.

The baby is too young to understand.

"Just like you, when you're in a bad mood, you listen to gossip to cheer yourself up. By the way, are you in a better mood now?"

Upon hearing this, the corpse understood and nodded emphatically.

Halfway done.

Even the ugly corpse's mouth twitched involuntarily. "When will the other half be ready?"

This guy would be fine after a good night's sleep, but it's not even dark yet.

Moreover, if you wake up and don't see your car, you'll likely fall back into a slump. Day after day, you'll be in a bad mood in the morning, go out for a walk, come back and take a nap, and then feel better again before you go out again.

An infinite loop.

She's as stubborn as an ox.

The solution is the shopping cart.

But there was no wind, and he searched the entire vicinity without finding anything, except for this backpack.

"Can we use this to find supplies in the future?"

She didn't pack as much as the cart, but it wasn't for food. As long as there's some income, it should be fine.

Seeing the backpack produce supplies, Shishi was a little satisfied, but she still missed the little cart.

Need a car.
