Qin An Ning paused for a moment, then walked over as if nothing had happened.
"Are you going to the commune too?"
Qi Shuyue nodded and chatted to Qin Anning casually, "My brother and I just arrived, and we haven't bought any thermoses or washbasins yet. So we're going to the commune to buy some. Otherwise, our normal life will be a problem."
After saying this, he stuck out his tongue embarrassedly and said, "I borrowed someone else's washbasin to wash my face this morning.
Qin Zhiqing, are you going to the commune to buy things too?"
Qin Anning hummed, but didn't say what he was going to do. He turned around and took out a dime and gave it to Uncle Li, "Uncle, this is my fare."
Uncle Li didn't take the money and glanced at Xu Jiacheng and Qi Shuyue. "It was these two educated youth who hired the ox cart today. They have already paid the fare."
He didn't want to take Qin Zhiqing's money, but he couldn't make decisions for him.
A cold wind blew, blowing off a layer of light snow on the branches, which fell down in a flurry.
Uncle Li shrank his neck, tightened his cotton-padded jacket, cracked his whip, and urged the old cow to go faster.
Qin An Ning stuffed a dime into Qi Shuyue's hand and tightened her scarf. The camel-colored cashmere scarf was wrapped around the tip of her nose, revealing only a pair of sparkling peach blossom eyes.
There was a dime on Qi Shuyue's glove. She was afraid that it would be blown away by the wind, so she quickly took off her gloves, picked it up, and then returned it to Qin An Ning.
Hand muffler
"We've already paid. You're just taking a ride, so you don't have to pay."
Qin Anning raised her hand to refuse, "If you don't accept it, I won't take the car."
Seeing Qin An Ning's firm attitude, Qi Shuyue had no choice but to put away the dime.
She sighed and said in an intimate tone, "We are both educated youth. We still have a long time to work together in the future. There is really no need for you to be so polite."
Qin An Ning's eyes curved, but she didn't actually smile at all. "I'm not used to owing favors to others."
Especially people you are not familiar with.
Qi Shuyue didn't continue on this topic. She looked down at the military boots on Qin Anning's feet and said, "These are military boots, right? They are so beautiful. Do you have any family members in the army?"
"Yes, my dad's comrade-in-arms sent it to me."
This information was not a secret. Uncle Zhou and Si Nian often sent her things, so she could find out by just asking.
"That's great. I've always admired soldiers, but unfortunately I don't have any relatives in my family who are soldiers." Qi Shuyue's eyes were full of envy, and her tone was full of yearning.
At that time, having a soldier in the family was a very honorable thing, so when Qi Shuyue said that she admired soldiers, Qin Anning didn't think much about it.
For the rest of the journey, Qi Shuyue and Xu Jiacheng kept chatting with Qin An Ning. They both knew their limits very well, and the content of the conversation did not make people feel uncomfortable.
But Qin An Ning was still sensitive enough to notice that they seemed to be trying to get along well with her.
She didn't know if she was overthinking it, because she couldn't imagine what they could gain from her.
When they arrived at the commune, Qi Shuyue wanted to drag Qin An Ning to go to the supply and marketing cooperative with her.
Qin Anning pointed to the other side where people were waiting for the bus and said, "I have to go to the county to do some work, so I won't be with you. Go buy something quickly, there are so many people and you have to queue."
Qi Shuyue pouted, her cheeks puffed up, "An Ning, I haven't talked to you enough yet, so I'll go play with you when you come back in the evening."
"The bus is here, I'm leaving first." Qin An Ning left a message and trotted to squeeze into the bus.
The brother and sister who were standing there watching the bus go away, their faces changed in a second.
Qi Shuyue no longer looked innocent and cute. Her almond-shaped eyes were gloomy and full of cruelty. "This Qin Anning is too difficult to deal with. Can't we just kill him?"
Xu Jiacheng quickly glanced around and warned seriously, "Watch your words, and never say anything you shouldn't.
We should do what the higher-ups tell us to do. Don't act on your own. Qin Anning is very alert, so don't show your hand."
Qin An Ning had no idea of the two men's ulterior motives. She was squeezed like a sticky dumpling on the bus. She was wearing thick clothes and there were so many people on the bus that she had no place to put her feet down.
Without a private car, traveling is really a pain.
But it’s only the 1970s now. If you want to own a private car, it will take at least ten years. It’s really sad.
After finally squeezing into the county, Qin Anning was not in the mood to visit the supply and marketing cooperative. He went to the guesthouse where he had stayed before and booked a single room to rest.
When Lu Cheng came to find her after get off work, she was still cooking in the space. She came out to open the door only after hearing the knock.
"Why are you here from outside?"
"I was thinking of taking you out for dinner." Lu Cheng stretched out his hand and let Qin An Ning check the time.
"No, I'm too lazy to move. I'll eat in my space." She was still steaming buns in her space.
"Okay, then I'll go back to the house first and find you in the space later."
Qin An Ning closed the door and returned to the space. He took out the steamed buns to cool down, then put them outside to freeze and leave them for his uncle and others tomorrow.
Lu Cheng entered the space, washed his hands and came over to help.
Qin Anning made the dough with yeast. She just thought of it on the spur of the moment. Frozen steamed buns can be kept for a long time, so they just need to heat them up when they eat them, which is convenient.
The two of them steamed another pot of buns before going to eat.
"Let's kill a sheep when we get back. I'm craving hotpot."
"Well, I'll do it when I get back."
The two of them ate and talked, you fed me and I fed you, and the meal took more than an hour.
The next day, I took the train to Lin County, but did not go directly to Hongxing Commune. Instead, I waited until dark, then rode my bike there with a flashlight.
After arriving outside the village where his uncle lived, Lu Cheng took the things out of the space and tied them to the bicycle, then found a secluded place to wait.
