Chapter 174 Come Back

After returning to Chunjiang County, Qin Anning first took his grandparents to the house bought by Lu Cheng to rest.

"Grandma and Grandpa, this is Lu Cheng's house. Let's rest for a day. We still need to go to the Revolutionary Committee to handle some paperwork."

She also needs to prepare some things for her grandparents.

There was no stove in the house, so Lu Cheng used the leftover firewood to heat the kang. The kang was warm, and the house was warmer.

After Lu Cheng finished heating the kang, he fetched some water and mopped up the whole room. "Ningning, you and grandma and grandpa rest at home. I'll go handle the paperwork."

"Okay, then you can buy some daily necessities while you're at it."

It's inconvenient to stay here at night because there's nothing in the house.

After Lu Cheng left, Qin An Ning asked the two old people to take off their shoes and rest on the kang.

"Ningning, come and sit down." Grandma patted the seat next to her.

Qin Anning sat over obediently, "Grandma, what's wrong?"

"Did Lu Cheng buy this house for his wedding?"

Grandma asked directly, and Qin An Ning felt a little uncomfortable.

"His family mentioned marriage, but at that time I hadn't brought Lu Cheng to meet you, so I didn't agree.

I'm going to work in a pharmaceutical factory soon. Lu Cheng said it's inconvenient for me to live in the dormitory. Coincidentally, I came across someone selling a house, so I thought it was suitable, so I bought it.

I'll listen to my grandparents about the marriage. You can get married when you feel that Lu Cheng has passed the test and agrees."

Lu Cheng was busy all the way, careful and thoughtful. Not only did he take good care of them, he also paid a lot of attention to Ningning. Grandma saw it all.

Whether a person is truly good to you can’t be faked through some small details.

"Your grandfather and I both like Lu Cheng, but marriage is a matter between two families, and we have to see what his family's attitude is.

Besides, this matter cannot be entirely decided by the two of us. He has to deal with his parents himself."

Qin Anning's heart tightened. She had forgotten about this matter.

I was afraid that my grandparents wouldn’t be able to handle it, so I didn’t dare tell them that my parents were gone.

But when she arrived at the Peace Brigade, many people there knew that she was the orphan of a martyr, and the matter could no longer be concealed.

She hadn't figured out how to tell her grandparents yet, so she could only deal with it vaguely and wait for Lu Cheng to come back to discuss it with him.

Lu Cheng came back very quickly. Not only did he come back, he also brought back a tricycle full of things, just like he was moving house.

"Who are you, young man?"

The neighbor on the left saw Lu Cheng moving so many things back and asked curiously.

Aunt Qi lives alone in her house. She was taken to the provincial capital by her daughter some time ago. They all thought she would be back after the New Year. How come a stranger came here now?

They are all neighbors, and they will see each other sooner or later. Lu Cheng didn't ignore him, but he couldn't tell the truth.

"I am the cousin of Aunt Qi's son-in-law. Aunt Qi went to live with my cousin in her old age. I happened to be working here, so the house was transferred to me."

The neighbor curled his lips and didn't quite believe this.

Lu Cheng had no intention of saying more to him. Believe it or not, if the house could not be bought and sold openly, he would not even bother to make up this excuse.

He opened the gate and pushed the tricycle in, then turned around and closed the gate tightly again.

Qin An Ning came out of the house to help get things. Grandma and grandpa also wanted to help, but were pushed back by Lu Cheng.

"It's just a few things. None of you need to lift a hand. I'll finish moving it in a moment."

Lu Cheng bought everything he needed, including pots, pans, firewood, rice, oil, salt, cabbage, potatoes, pork, chicken, towels, soap, thermos and enamel pots, an iron stove, and two sets of familiar bedding.

"My grandparents don't want to go out, so I thought of buying some and making them at home."

After Lu Cheng moved all the things in, he started to install the iron stove.

Even though it's mid-February now, it's still quite cold here.

There was firewood in the yard and some coal briquettes left by Aunt Qi, which were enough for temporary use.

It didn't take long for the stove to burn before the room became warm.

Grandma and Grandpa looked at Lu Cheng with even greater satisfaction.

Qin An Ning boiled a pot of space water and poured it into an enamel pot for grandparents. They were in poor health and needed to be taken good care of.

"Lu Cheng, come here and rest for a while." Grandma brought Lu Cheng a glass of water.

"Grandma, I'm not tired. I'll let you taste my cooking later."

"You can cook too?" Grandma was really shocked.

There is no idea in their family that boys are superior to girls or that men cannot cook.

However, several men in the family almost set the house on fire when they went to the kitchen. They really didn't have the talent, so they had to let it go.

"I didn't know how to do it before, but I learned it later. Ningning and I both work, and after we get married, we can't just wait for Ningning to come home and cook."

Lu Cheng made grandma smile with just one sentence. He understood her care and concern. Ningning did not choose the wrong person.

Lu Cheng wanted to show off, so Qin An Ning let him do it.

It just so happened that the bedding Lu Cheng brought back was from her space. They were all new and not suitable for grandparents to use.

Qin An Ning took apart the quilt lining and replaced it with the patched one that her grandparents used, and the quilt core was still filled with new cotton.

"Ningning, you can keep this new quilt. Your grandpa and I can use the old one."

Grandma tried to stop Qin An Ning. She had lived a life of luxury for most of her life, and now she had suffered such a misfortune in her old age. She didn't want to cause trouble for her child.

Qin An Ning's hands kept moving, and she said with a smile, "Grandma, I won't treat myself badly.

Although you need a ticket to buy everything now and some things are difficult to get, don’t you forget what Lu Cheng does?

He traveled a lot, and the things he brought back were enough for me."

My grandparents’ quilts are so thin, the cotton filling is so hard, and they don’t keep me warm at all.

After Qin An Ning finished with the quilt, she rubbed her grandparents' new clothes on the ground until the cuffs were almost worn out.

They tore off a few pieces of cloth from their old clothes that were no longer wearable and put patches on the elbows and fronts.

Because of the inconvenience of grandparents' status, Qin An Ning did not prepare too many clothes for them. Two sets were enough for them to change.

The things they used were brought from the Northwest, and Qin An Ning did not replace any of them that were usable. These were all displayed openly for people to see.

She just needs to take good care of her grandparents' health and keep them from getting cold. External things are not that important.

Qin An Ning had finished cleaning up and Lu Cheng had prepared the meal.

They had bought all the things temporarily, so they didn't buy a table. The four of them just sat on the kang to eat.

A chicken stewed with potatoes, a cabbage stir-fried with pork slices, and white rice, the four of them were extremely satisfied with the meal.

After dinner, Lu Cheng rushed to clean up the dishes and wash them.

Then I chatted with my grandparents for a while before getting ready to go back to the dormitory to sleep.

Qin An Ning used the excuse of sending him out, and when they got outside, she asked, "Lu Cheng, how do you think I should tell my grandparents about my parents?"
