When everyone fell asleep at night, Qin An Ning quietly went to the east end of the village.
Although the room was warmer after the kang was heated, the draft was blowing in through the windows, so the temperature inside the room was not much higher than outside.
My grandparents were lying on the kang with their clothes on and covered with a quilt.
Qin Anning came in with a flashlight and put down the pile of things on his back.
Grandma exclaimed, "Oh my God, why did you bring so many things? Are you exhausted?"
"They are all useful." Qin Anning smiled and put the flashlight aside. "I'm not tired. I have a lot of strength now."
But both elders don’t believe it, and I feel so sad.
In their eyes, Qin An Ning is still that pampered baby.
Qin An Ning didn't say much to them. She took out two still-hot lunch boxes and said, "Grandma and Grandpa, you must be starving. Eat first."
Grandma quickly said, "I'm not hungry. I ate some pastries to fill my stomach."
That thing can't be eaten as a meal, so Qin An Ning didn't argue and stuffed the lunch box into them, "Eat it while it's hot.
Then he lit a candle in a corner sheltered from the wind, took out the plastic sheet, small nails and a hammer, and went to work on the window.
The windows in today's houses are not big and are gridded one by one, so it was finished quickly and the house became much warmer immediately.
After my grandparents finished their meal, we packed up our things together and finally got everything ready. It felt like we could live our lives again.
We are still missing water tanks and buckets. Qin An Ning can't deliver them secretly, so we can only ask Lu Rongjiang to buy them tomorrow. Fortunately, they are daily necessities and no one can say anything.
"Ningning, we've settled down now. You don't have to worry anymore. Go back to work."
Qin An Ning walked around the room and felt that it was almost done. She slowly filled in any missing parts.
Besides, it's still freezing here and we can't do much work, so my grandparents can finally have a rest for a while.
"Then grandma and grandpa, make sure to take the tonic medicine on time. I'll find time to go to your uncle's place and tell them you two are here so they don't have to worry about you.
I can't come here all the time, so if there's anything urgent, go find Uncle Lu."
Qin Anning kept giving her worried instructions, and even her grandparents were annoyed. "Hurry up and go. Go to work tomorrow."
