Chapter 187 The Mysterious Woman, A Yue

In the brief moment that Xia Wan was distracted, the room erupted into chaos, filled with incessant arguing. To be precise, the argument resembled a one-sided accusation and beating of Wu Sangui by the woman.

The woman's eyes widened in anger, her eyebrows furrowed, and her voice was so shrill it almost pierced eardrums: "Do you have a pig's head? I told you long ago to just get rid of that person cleanly and decisively, and be done with it! But what did you do? You just ignored me and made him a cripple."

She became increasingly angry as she spoke, and she even forgot to eat the lunchbox she was holding, throwing it directly at Wu Sangui.

However, faced with such fierce accusations, Wu Sangui remained as docile as a sheep, completely unmoved.

He silently endured the woman's anger without even flinching.

When he looked at the woman, his eyes showed no anger whatsoever, but were instead filled with deep love.

"Ah Yue, I understand that you're so angry because you're worried about our safety. But don't worry, if those people eventually find out the truth, I will take full responsibility for all the mistakes and will never let anyone have the chance to harm you in the slightest."

Unfortunately, the woman called A-Yue seemed to ignore his words completely, not taking in a single one of them.

Her eyebrows furrowed, her eyes wide with anger, and she roared at Wu Sangui, "You understand? Humph, then tell me, what exactly do you understand? You're utterly useless! Once they discover something's amiss, you won't even have a chance to defend yourself! We'll both be doomed! Are you trying to kill me?"

Wu Sangui's eyes were filled with endless pain. He held A Yue's hand tightly and said in a slightly trembling voice, "A Yue, please believe me. I swear to you, I will never let you get hurt. Right now, everyone outside thinks you are dead. No matter what, you can continue to live with a completely new identity."

However, as if she had lost all her strength, Yue slowly squatted down, covered her face with her hands, and burst into tears.

The cries were heart-wrenching, and those who heard them couldn't help but feel pity.

If changing identities were as easy as Wu Sangui claimed, why would she have bothered hiding in this desolate mountain for so long?

Furthermore, her original identity was something that couldn't be brought into the light. Otherwise, how could she have faked her death to escape back then?

Seeing Ah Yue crying so heartbrokenly, Wu Sangui felt as if his heart was being torn apart. He quickly bent down, gently patted her back, and softly comforted her.

"Ah Yue, please stop crying. Seeing you like this breaks my heart. Believe me, more than ten years ago, your father-in-law was able to arrange everything perfectly for you, and now I can do the same! I will do everything in my power to protect you!"

The two remained locked in a stalemate when the woman suddenly raised her head, looking at Wu Sangui with pleading eyes: "Brother Gui, aren't you willing to do anything for me? Then why don't you kill Xia Jianguo? As long as he's dead, we'll be safe!"

As A-Yue spoke, she would occasionally steal glances at Wu Sangui's changing expression. When she saw the conflicted look gradually appear on Wu Sangui's face, she suddenly lunged forward, like a light butterfly, and threw herself into his arms, continuing to plead softly.

"Brother Gui, don't you want me to be by your side forever? If you can find a way to make Xia Jianguo disappear completely, then I can change to a completely new identity and be free to be with you! How about that?"

Wu Sangui hugged A Yue tightly in his arms, the struggle in his eyes slowly fading away, replaced by an increasingly determined look: "Alright, A Yue, don't worry, whatever you want, I will do everything I can to satisfy you!"

Meanwhile, Xia Wan, who was hiding outside the cave, was already furious, as if a raging fire was churning inside her chest.

Did her father kill that woman's entire family? Or did he desecrate her ancestral graves?! That bastard had to take her father's life!

At the same time, her heart was filled with doubts: Who exactly is this woman?

She silently memorized all the information she had just heard, secretly thinking that she would ask her father who this woman was when she got home.

Judging from the conversation between this woman and Wu Sangui, it was clearly her husband, Lao Xia, who was blocking her way!

However, what surprised Xia Wan was that Wu Sangui was so infatuated with this woman, he was a complete love-struck fool, and he couldn't see through her obvious intention to use him.

This is completely different from the Wu Sangui who ate at her house today!

Xia Wan suppressed her anger and patiently listened to a few more of those pointless and cloying sweet nothings before A Yue finally managed to get rid of Wu Sangui.

Xia Wan completely ignored A Yue, who was preparing to rest. She merely frowned slightly, glanced at her briefly, and then returned to the small cave.

The wild boar was still there, thankfully undiscovered. Xia Wan smiled and hoisted the enormous boar onto her shoulder, taking firm steps down the mountain.

Throughout the journey, Xia Wan's mind was filled with various questions about that A Yue.

Judging from what those two people said, this woman named Yue has actually been living in that cave for many years.

What's puzzling is that A-Yue dressed herself up neatly and cleanly. Although the light was dim, she could still see that the person didn't have a single patch on their clothes. They didn't look like they had lived a hard life like wild men for years!

Moreover, according to what my brother had told me before, there are a large number of ferocious wild beasts in this deep mountain.

Even she herself encountered a wild boar!

So the question is, how exactly did A-Yue manage to survive in such a harsh and dangerous environment and live out such a long time unharmed?

Could it be that this Yue is actually a secret agent on a special mission? Perhaps she possesses extraordinary skills and is proficient in martial arts? Or maybe she secretly carries some powerful weapon that can defend against the attacks of those ferocious beasts?

Xia Wan became increasingly puzzled as she thought about it, unable to find a reasonable explanation to unravel the mystery in her heart.

And so, as she pondered deeply, she struggled forward carrying the heavy wild boar, finally arriving at the foot of the mountain to meet Li Hu at the agreed-upon location.
