Chapter 365 Review

On a cold winter morning, the city seemed shrouded in a veil of tranquility, still fast asleep.

The thin mist, like a soft veil, drifted leisurely through the streets and alleys, not yet completely dissipated, casting a hazy and mysterious veil over the entire world.

The distant skyscrapers appeared and disappeared in the mist, like a delicate ink painting. The trees along the street were also shrouded in mist, and the frost hanging on the branches shimmered with tiny lights in the dim light.

The warm winter sun, like a gentle messenger, pierced through this thin veil, as if gently sprinkled on the hospital corridor by a pair of extremely gentle hands.

Golden light pierced through the cold, icy glass, refracting into dazzling patterns that shimmered across the ground.

This light added a rare touch of warmth and vitality to this place, which is usually filled with the smell of disinfectant and permeated with pain and unease.

In the corridor, nurses hurried along, the sound of pushing ambulances standing out clearly in the silence, while the warm sunlight seemed to bring a glimmer of hope, warming one's heart slightly.

Xia Jianguo was pushed into the supervisory office by Xia Tao. His steps were slightly heavy, as if each step was measuring the arduous journey of fighting against illness.

Xia Jianguo's face showed signs of prolonged illness and was haggard. His skin had lost its former luster, becoming sallow and dry, and his eye sockets were slightly sunken. He looked very weak.

But his eyes revealed a firm resolve, a yearning for recovery and a sense of responsibility to his family, which allowed him to stand tall despite the torment of illness.

Xia Wan and Xia Tao stood on either side of their father, making it easier for him to step into the examination room that would determine his fate.

Xia Wan's eyes were full of worry and concern. She would look up at her father from time to time, as if to make sure he was alright. There was also a hint of self-blame and guilt in her eyes.

She recalled the day her father was injured, and how she couldn't be by his side. Her heart felt heavy, as if a large stone was pressing down on it.

Xia Tao pursed his lips, his expression serious. He was filled with worry about his father's illness, but also with the determination to shoulder the responsibility as an older brother. He silently told himself that he must be strong and provide support for his sister and family.

Xia Xiong followed behind with steady yet somewhat anxious steps, his eyes full of concern and worry. The years had etched deep wrinkles on his face, each wrinkle like a story, recording the vicissitudes of life.

His hair was already gray, and his back was slightly hunched, but at this moment, the firmness in his eyes and his deep love for his family gave him a reassuring and powerful aura, as if no difficulty could bring down this family as long as he was there.

He watched his son's retreating figure, his heart filled with mixed emotions. He recalled his son as a child, a lively and energetic little boy, and then looked at him now, tormented by illness. His heart ached. He silently prayed, hoping that God would bless his family and that his son would recover soon.

The door to the examination room closed slowly, making a dull and oppressive sound, shutting out Xia Jianguo's figure behind the door.

Xia Wan and Xia Tao stood at the door, both of them seemingly frozen in place, unconsciously holding their breath.

Xia Wan's heart was pounding like a rabbit's, her nerves were so high that her palms were slightly sweaty. The sweat slid down her palms and dripped onto the cold ground, as if telling the story of her inner unease.

She kept silently praying that her father was alright, and various possible test results kept flashing through her mind, some good and some bad, each one making her heart beat faster involuntarily.

She would occasionally look up at the closed door, her eyes filled with longing and anxiety, as if staring at it so intently would allow her to see through the situation inside and know her father's test results immediately.

She turned and exchanged a glance with Xia Tao. Both of them had the same tension and anticipation in their eyes, and there was also a deep fear of the unknown hidden in their eyes, as if they were afraid of hearing any bad news.

Xia Tao gently patted Xia Wan's shoulder, trying to comfort her, but his own hand was trembling slightly, the trembling betraying his own unease.

From the moment her father was injured, Xia Wan was plunged into deep self-blame, which was like an invisible net that tightly enveloped her.

Countless nights she tossed and turned, unable to sleep, her mind replaying the image of her father's injury like a movie, every detail crystal clear, like sharp knives piercing her heart.

She felt that if she had been more careful and thoughtful, her father would not have suffered such a disaster.

She recalled the moments she shared with her father in her past life, and those warm memories now turned into deep guilt.

When she was little, her father would always carry her on his shoulders and take her to see the outside world; when she was sick, he would stay by her bedside and take care of her all night without closing his eyes. But now, she has failed to protect her father.

The health-enhancing pills she secretly gave her father were her only ray of hope during countless anxious nights.

She prayed silently every day, her devout expression like she was asking the gods for blessings.

She hoped that the little pill would have a miraculous effect, like a ray of dawn illuminating her father's path to recovery, allowing him to get better as soon as possible and become the energetic pillar who sheltered his family from the storms of life again.

She even searched online for various materials, hoping to find more information about this pill to boost her confidence.
