Chapter 376 Surprise

Xia Wan stood before the half-open door, quietly gazing at the scene inside. Qin Yue and Zhao Qian sat facing each other, the atmosphere exceptionally warm and lively.

Sometimes, the two would laugh heartily because they agreed on a point of view, their cheerful laughter echoing freely in the room; other times, when they reached a crucial point in the discussion, they would furrow their brows, become serious and focused, lean forward, and communicate with complete concentration, as if the whole world consisted only of each other and the topic they were discussing.

Seeing how absorbed and completely absorbed they were, Xia Wan knew perfectly well that it would be inappropriate to disturb them at this moment.

She turned slightly to the side, gently lifted her feet, and slowly lowered them, each step as light as if she were walking on cotton. She carefully left the room, her movements so slow as if she were afraid of disturbing even the slightest movement of air or making the faintest sound.

Recalling the reasons for her visit to Zhou Jing, Xia Wan couldn't help but sigh inwardly at the complexity of the situation.

The family sat around the slightly worn wooden round table. Countless nights, under the dim light, they shared their opinions and weighed every possible pros and cons. After round after round of long and difficult discussions, they finally made a decision.

But the relationships involved are like intricate vines in the deep mountains, intertwined, dense, and impossible to cut or untangle.

Although everyone gets along well in daily life and tacitly avoids revealing the secrets hidden in the shadows, each person seems to be keeping their own ledger in their heart, with their own thoughts and calculations.

As for how much of the truth they had guessed, Xia Wan was completely lost in the fog, having no idea what was going on.

In this chaotic and uncertain situation, she could only grope her way forward like a traveler in a thicket of thorns, taking each step with utmost care, for fear that the slightest misstep would result in being scratched by the sharp thorns.

At this moment, Xia Wan's heart was filled with the joyous news of Xia Shuhua's awakening, and her excitement surged like a tidal wave.

Her cheeks were rosy, like ripe apples in an autumn orchard, radiating an alluring glow.

Her steps were hurried and rushed; her heart was already eager to fly to her family, wishing she could fly across mountains and rivers in one step and appear directly in front of them.

She jogged towards her grandfather's study, her speed creating a small breeze, her hair flying wildly in the wind.

Before she even stepped into the study, her clear, melodious voice, brimming with excitement, burst through the closed door like a lively bird, calling out, "Grandpa, Dad, Brother, Aunt, Auntie's awake!"

At that moment, the family was leisurely and comfortably sitting around in the study, enjoying this moment of tranquility.

Grandpa Xia Xiong held the old-fashioned teacup that had been with him for many years, took a small sip, and let the hot tea slide down his throat. The rich aroma of the tea slowly spread on his tongue, bringing him a moment of peace and satisfaction.

Dad Xia Jianguo and brother Xia Yang were huddled together, talking in hushed tones, occasionally letting out soft chuckles over an interesting topic. Their laughter was full of the warmth and beauty of life.

The eldest aunt, Xia Shuyu, sat quietly in a wicker chair to the side, sunlight streaming through the window and casting a soft glow on her. She was intently flipping through the pages of a book, immersed in the ocean of knowledge.

Upon hearing this sudden, thunderous news, everyone froze instantly, as if they had been frozen in place.

The whole world seemed to have been paused, time stood still. The room was eerily quiet; you could hear a pin drop. Everyone's face was filled with shock and disbelief, as if they had heard a bizarre and unbelievable fairy tale.

Grandpa Xia Xiong was the first to recover from the shock.

His hand suddenly trembled uncontrollably, and the teacup nearly slipped from his grasp, splashing a few drops of scalding tea that spread into a dark stain on the old tabletop.

He didn't bother wiping the table, hurriedly put down his teacup, and stood up abruptly. His movements were so rushed that the chair behind him shook violently, making a few dull thuds.

He took a big step forward, his face full of anxiety and anticipation, his eyes fixed on Xia Wan, and asked, "Wanwan, what did you say? Your aunt is awake? Really? Are you sure it's your aunt?"

Xia Xiong had already vaguely guessed that Xia Shuhua had encountered something unusual, but the fact that the problem was resolved so quickly and suddenly was still beyond his expectations, making it hard for him to believe his ears.

"Yes, it's my aunt Xia Shuhua, Grandpa, you should go and see her!" Xia Wan gasped for breath, her chest heaving as if she had just finished a long marathon. She smiled and pointed her finger toward Xia Shuhua's room, her eyes sparkling with joy, a joy brighter than the most brilliant sunshine in spring.

Xia Tao and Xia Shuyu quickly gathered around, asking questions one after another. "Wanwan, tell me quickly, what exactly happened?"

Xia Tao frowned slightly, his face full of concern and worry, eager to know the ins and outs of the matter.

"Is my aunt really fully awake?"

Xia Shuyu's eyes were full of worry and anxiety, her gaze fixed on Xia Wan, afraid of missing any detail.

But as soon as the words left their mouths, they seemed to wake up from a dream, realizing that what they should do now was not to keep asking questions here, but to see for themselves and confirm with their own eyes whether all of this was real, whether Xia Shuhua had really woken up as Xia Wan had said.
