After a comfortable day of rest at home, Xia Wan finally got ready to head to the food factory to report for duty.
Looking back on this day, it was like a gentle dream that completely washed away the exhaustion of her past life filled with busy work.
As the first rays of sunlight pierced through the thin curtains and cast dappled shadows on the floor in the early morning, she slowly woke up. Gone was the usual rush; instead, she lazily stretched out in bed, savoring this long-lost tranquility.
She slowly got up, walked to the window, and opened it. Fresh air rushed in, mixed with the fragrance of earth and grass, which invigorated her.
Several unnamed wildflowers in the yard swayed gently in the breeze, as if telling her about the beauty of the morning.
After breakfast, she strolled into the sun-drenched courtyard, sat down in the old wicker chair, and held a book she had long admired but never had time to read.
A gentle breeze rustled the pages of the book, and she was immersed in its world, following in the footsteps of the protagonist and experiencing one wondrous adventure after another.
Occasionally, she would look up at the azure sky, as blue as a jewel, watching the clouds transform into various wondrous shapes, her thoughts drifting away with them.
She remembered running in the fields as a child, chasing colorful butterflies, her laughter echoing across the open fields; she also remembered lying on the grass with her friends, gazing at the sky, and imagining what the future would be like.
At noon, an enticing aroma wafted from the kitchen.
Wearing an apron, Xia Wan showed off her cooking skills in front of the stove.
She skillfully chopped the fresh ingredients, the oil in the pan sizzling.
She hummed a little tune as she cooked, a satisfied smile on her face.
Before long, a variety of delicious dishes were laid out on the table.
There are golden-brown sweet and sour pork ribs, tender and juicy steamed fish, and refreshing and delicious seasonal vegetable salad. Each dish is full of her love for life and her reward to herself.
She sat at the dining table, savoring the delicious food and enjoying this leisurely time that was all hers.
Every bite of food seemed to carry the taste of happiness, making her feel the beauty of life.
In the afternoon, she took a short nap, and after waking up, she tended to the flowers and plants in the yard.
She gently pruned the branches and leaves, watered and fertilized the flowers and plants, and watched the tender green leaves grow strong in the sunlight. Her heart was filled with peace and contentment.
These flowers and plants are like the little joys in her life; though ordinary, they bring her endless happiness.
This day of rest allowed her to fully relax, like a long-dried sponge absorbing the moisture of life, and saving up her energy for her upcoming busy work.
The next morning, the first rays of sunlight, like golden threads, gently streamed into the room through the window.
Xia Wan woke up early from her sleep, a faint smile on her face, as if she was still savoring the sweet dream from last night.
She tiptoed into the kitchen and carefully prepared a nutritious breakfast.
On the dining table were golden fried eggs, steaming rice porridge, and several refreshing side dishes, each one brimming with her love for life.
After the meal, she and Xia Tao left their homes separately.
Xia Tao, carrying his schoolbag, walked briskly towards the school, his eyes filled with a thirst for knowledge, humming a tuneless little tune.
Xia Wan embarked on her journey to the food factory, her heart filled with anticipation, as if she were about to embark on a grand rendezvous.
This is the first time she has returned to this familiar and hopeful place since taking a long leave of absence.
Xia Wan was in a particularly pleasant mood throughout the journey.
The trees along the street were like warm old friends, swaying their branches gently in the breeze as if waving to her.
The birds sang merrily on the branches, their clear songs seeming to celebrate for her.
She walked briskly, her mind filled with images of the food factory: the busy figures, the bustling workshops, the familiar roar of the machines, and the aroma of food.
Every scene played out in her mind like a movie, filling her with anticipation for the upcoming reunion.
Stepping into the factory area, everything familiar came into view.
The roar of machines intertwined to form a vibrant symphony, a melody of struggle and a rhythm of dreams.
The aromas of various foods blend together to create a unique scent—the smell of a food factory, a testament to hard work and ingenuity.
Xia Wan took a deep breath, feeling this familiarity and warmth, as if a wanderer had returned to his hometown.
As she walked, she greeted her colleagues warmly, and everyone's faces were filled with simple smiles as they asked her how her holiday was.
She responded to each one, sharing her holiday anecdotes, and laughter echoed throughout the factory area.
Then, with firm steps, she walked straight to Director Bai's office.
Reaching the office door, she raised her hand, her fingers slightly curled, and gently knocked. "Come in!"
Director Bai's voice came from inside.
After receiving permission, she pushed open the door and went in: "Good morning, Director Bai!"
Xia Wan greeted everyone with a gentle smile on her face and a clear, crisp voice. Her smile was like a flower blooming in spring, warm and bright, as if it could dispel all the gloom in the world.
Director Bai looked up at the sound, and his originally serious face instantly filled with a smile, like a blooming chrysanthemum, with joy hidden in every wrinkle.
"Xia, you're finally back! Come on, come on, I have good news to tell you." Director Bai's tone was full of barely suppressed excitement as he spoke, gesturing for Xia Wan to sit down.
