Chapter 201 Preparing to Make a Cake

Director Bai, like a firecracker that had been lit, uttered a nonsensical remark, excitedly reached out and pulled open the door, leaving the office like a gust of wind.

Xia Wan was left looking bewildered and at a loss, sitting blankly like a statue in the corner of the office in a slightly worn chair.

Xia Wan blinked, her mouth slightly open, wanting to say something but unsure where to begin. Finally, she could only helplessly close her mouth and let out a soft sigh: "..."

She was so bored that she started looking around the office.

On the large desk sat an old-fashioned ceramic tea mug with some blurry patterns and words printed on it.

Behind the table was an old-fashioned wooden chair, its back worn smooth and shiny, as if it had witnessed countless busy workdays.

There was also a chair in front of the desk, which was where Xia Wan was sitting at the moment.

In addition, there was a long wooden bench against the wall, which looked quite sturdy.

The office was decorated in an unusually simple style, with almost all the furniture in sight being made of wood, giving it a rustic and dignified feel. Just as Xia Wan was secretly admiring this, footsteps came from outside the door, approaching from afar.

Soon, Director Bai led another person in.

He greeted the people behind him warmly, unable to hide his excitement, and said, "Director Niu, please come in! This is Comrade Xia, whom I just mentioned to you."

Xia Wan hurriedly got up as quickly as possible, her movements appearing somewhat flustered, but she still maintained her politeness.

A slight blush appeared on her somewhat youthful face, and her hands were nervously clasped in front of her, revealing a hint of restraint.

She deliberately adopted the demeanor of a naive young girl, pursed her lips slightly, forced a smile, and said in a voice as soft as a breeze across a lake, "Hello, leader!"

The factory director standing in front of me was short but exuded an air of authority. His weathered face was like a rock sculpted by time, etched with deep and shallow wrinkles.

Although Director Niu usually puts on a serious and rigid demeanor, he seemed to be intentionally trying to show a more easygoing attitude at this moment.

However, perhaps due to the habits formed from being in a high position for a long time, the smile on his lips looked slightly stiff and forced.

"Oh, Comrade Xia, hello, hello. I heard from your Director Bai that you have mastered several recipes for making pastries. You want to work at the food factory, is that right?" Director Niu said, looking the seemingly delicate and young girl up and down.

He had just finished an important meeting and was about to return to his office to rest when he was stopped on the way by Bai Zhuangzhong, who had rushed over in a hurry.

Bai Zhuangzhong told him mysteriously that a young woman had come to the factory, who possessed many unique pastry recipes, and strongly urged Factory Director Niu to come and find out for himself.

At first, Factory Manager Niu didn't pay much attention to the matter, thinking that a young girl like her couldn't possibly know much about the intricacies of pastry making.

Most of those so-called secret recipes were just unreliable nonsense. But due to Bai Zhuangzhong's repeated requests, and also because he was genuinely curious, he finally decided to go along.

Sure enough, when Director Niu saw Xia Wan in person, he couldn't help but wonder: Could such a greenhorn really have amazing pastry recipes? The more he thought about it, the more he felt that Bai Zhuangzhou was probably just messing around and making a mess of things again.

Nevertheless, Director Niu, being a seasoned and worldly man, naturally wouldn't reveal his true thoughts on his face.

Therefore, on the surface, his attitude towards Xia Wan was quite polite and courteous, without the slightest hint of disrespect.

However, Xia Wan, with her keen sense of detail and sensitivity, still managed to pick up on the doubt in Director Niu's words and the distrust that he inadvertently revealed.

Xia Wan blinked her bright, star-like eyes slightly, and a confident and charming smile appeared on her lips: "I think we can talk about these things later. If you, Director Niu, can give me a chance, I would very much like to make you a pastry on the spot so that you can taste it. After you have tasted it, we can discuss the work or the corresponding reward."

Factory Director Niu was taken aback, clearly not expecting this seemingly delicate young girl to be so outspoken.

He stared intently at Xia Wan, thinking to himself: This little girl, in just two short sentences, has transformed into a completely different person as if by magic. She seems to be quite the little fox.

When their eyes met again, Director Niu noticed that the faint smile in her eyes had become more genuine: "Well, good! Since Comrade Xia is so confident, why not give it a try! Come with me, the factory's newly purchased machines have just been repaired and tested!"

After finishing speaking, Director Niu waved his hand in front of him, signaling Xia Wan and Director Bai to hurry up and follow him.

Xia Wan and Director Bai exchanged a knowing glance and quickly caught up with him: "Thank you for this rare opportunity, leader. I will do my best and will definitely not let you down!"

And so, Xia Wan followed closely behind Director Niu, walking along a rugged road.

The reason it is called a "rugged road" is simply that the various building materials around this brand-new factory have not yet been properly organized and arranged, so it looks quite messy and even exudes a slightly unhygienic smell.

However, it wasn't long before they arrived at the spacious factory.

After some communication and exchange, and with the approval of Director Niu, Xia Wan was finally able to begin an in-depth investigation of those mysterious machines.

To her relief, although these machines were unfamiliar to Xia Wan, they came with very detailed instruction manuals.

After carefully reviewing the instructions, she found that the operation seemed not complicated, which gave her more confidence.

In fact, back in modern times, Xia Wan once made a birthday cake for her father herself.

However, that was a long time ago.

Now standing in this unfamiliar factory, she really couldn't predict whether she would be able to successfully bake a delicious cake on her first try.

Xia Wan pondered for a moment, then picked up a pen and paper and listed all the necessary materials one by one.
