Xia Tao looked bewildered as Xia Wan tightly gripped his arm, and they ran all the way until they left the narrow, secluded alley. Only then did their pace gradually slow down, and they began to walk slowly.
Seeing her brother's completely bewildered and questioning expression, Xia Wan coughed lightly, secretly glad that she had prepared her explanation in advance.
She lowered her voice and explained to Xia Tao, "Brother, I just caught him off guard, covered my face, rushed over, beat him up, and asked him some questions we wanted to find out. Luckily, he was afraid of dying, so we managed to get some useful information from him."
Xia Wan paused for a moment, then continued, "But I think that guy surnamed Guo will definitely need to contact the Beijing area."
"If we kidnap him now, and the people in Beijing can't contact us for a long time, they might send someone else to investigate. That would make things much more complicated!"
Hearing this, Xia Tao frowned, a deep worry on his face: "But Xiao Wan, you went and asked him these questions so rashly. Won't he realize your identity? Then we'll be completely exposed!"
At this thought, Xia Tao's heart jumped into his throat.
What if that Guo guy turns around and sends a message to the capital, informing them that his father already knows his identity? Wouldn't they be in extreme danger when they go to the capital later?
Xia Tao looked at his sister beside him with suspicion, unable to understand why the current situation was so contrary to their original goals.
Xia Wan shook her head vigorously and hurriedly explained to Xia Tao, "Brother, don't worry, there's absolutely no way the people in Beijing will know about this! At least not for the foreseeable future!"
I just broke that guy's leg; he probably won't have the energy to worry about our situation for a while now!
The most crucial issue is that the guy had absolutely no idea about the true identities of the brother and sister!
She had just quietly given that person a good beating, and she hadn't made a sound the whole time.
Right now, that old guy is probably still in a daze, completely bewildered!
However, it's really not convenient to explain some of the system details to my brother in detail.
After all, her brother knew nothing about this system, and telling him rashly would probably only cause him more trouble.
It's best if only she and her father know about this system.
"Oh, brother, just relax! How could I joke about something as important as Dad's treatment? I'm very careful, everything is under control!" Xia Wan said confidently, patting her chest.
Hearing his sister's confident words, Xia Tao hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded, indicating that he would not ask any further questions.
After all, before he left home, his father had specifically instructed him to listen to his sister's opinions and arrangements as much as possible, no matter what happened.
Because his sister is quick-witted and meticulous, she is generally unlikely to be taken advantage of.
"Alright, since you know what's going on, I won't say anything more. Anyway, no matter what, you must be careful and protect yourself." Xia Tao added a few more words of advice out of concern.
"Okay, brother, I know! You can rest assured!" Xia Wan grinned mischievously at her brother, then pointed to the food factory not far ahead and said happily, "Look, I'm almost there! It's almost time, I need to hurry up and get to work! If anything comes up, we can discuss it when we get home!"
Okay, it's settled then! I won't be going on a long trip this time, I should be back in about seven or eight days.
Xia Tao stopped his hurried steps, turned around, and earnestly instructed his younger sister, "Xiao Wan, after I finish this trip, I plan to ask my boss for leave. I'll go to Beijing to treat Dad's leg, and I'll go back to work after we get back from Beijing."
To be honest, Xia Tao knew in his heart that he didn't have any particularly outstanding skills or abilities.
Most of the money needed for Dad's medical treatment and leg repair had to be earned by my younger sister through hard work.
However, he still has a lot of brute strength, so if he really encounters a job that requires physical strength, it will be no problem for him!
However, the simple-minded Xia Wan didn't understand the meaning behind her brother's words. She simply waved her hand casually and replied nonchalantly:
"Oh, no need for all that trouble, brother! If you're busy with work, just go to work first. I'll take care of Dad, don't worry! I'm very strong, I could even carry Dad onto the train without any problem, I'll definitely take good care of him!"
Actually, Xia Wan didn't have any other thoughts, she just felt that finding a stable job these days was not an easy thing.
If her brother lost his job because of taking leave, it would be a huge loss! That's why she was so focused on getting her brother to prioritize his work.
Hearing his sister say that, Xia Tao quickly shook his head and explained, "Sis, things aren't too busy at work right now. There aren't any tasks that require long-distance travel to complete. So, taking a leave of absence is no problem for me at all."
Besides, even if you're incredibly strong, if something really urgent happens, you probably wouldn't be able to handle it all by yourself. In case anything happens, someone will need to keep an eye on Dad.
He thought to himself that he wasn't good at anything else, but at least he could run errands, otherwise he felt like he was becoming more and more useless.
He hadn't earned much money, and he couldn't even match his younger sister's strength, which made him, as the older brother, feel quite ashamed!
"Alright, then you can arrange it, brother. It's about time, let's go to work." Dad isn't just hers alone, and as his brother, she naturally couldn't stop him from taking care of him!
And thinking about it carefully, what her brother said makes a lot of sense. If something really happens, it would be a bit chaotic and overwhelming to deal with it all by oneself. It would be much more convenient for two people to deal with it together.
With their work start time fast approaching, the brother and sister said their goodbyes in a hurry and headed off to their respective workplaces.
Xia Wan seized the limited time she had on the road to quickly take out her phone and check the latest information she had just received.
