Chapter 123 Follow-up visit with Traditional Chinese Medicine

"Mom." Xu Qianjiao walked to the kitchen and intimately took Xu's mother's hand. "What are we having for breakfast today?"

Mother Xu patted Xu Qianjiao's hand and asked in a low voice: "Jiaojiao, do you feel uncomfortable today?"

In an instant, Xu Qianjiao's face flushed. "Is it so embarrassing? Is she so obvious? This is so embarrassing. What can I say? This is indeed a bit uncomfortable, but it's okay."

She nodded hesitantly and whispered, "It's nothing uncomfortable."

Xu's mother nodded, "Okay." Then she scooped a bowl of brown sugar eggs from the pot and handed it to Xu Qianjiao, "Here, eat them all. It's a good way to replenish yourself."

Xu Qianjiao looked at the brown sugar eggs in her hand, and her face became even more red. She looked up at Xu's mother, who seemed to know everything, and she no longer had the face to stay in the kitchen.

She held the bowl of brown sugar eggs and said sheepishly, "Mom, I...I'm going to have breakfast."

After saying that, he fled the kitchen with the brown sugar eggs.

After breakfast, Xu Qianjiao went back to her room, put on thick clothes and wrapped a scarf around her neck, preparing to go to the provincial capital with Cheng Jiawen later.

Cheng Jiawen walked from the room to the kitchen carrying a basket on his back. He looked at Xu's mother and asked softly, "Mom, I'm going to take Jiaojiao to the city to see the old doctor for a follow-up consultation. Is there anything you want to buy? I'll bring it back for you."

Xu's mother shook her head. "I don't have anything to bring. Be careful on the road. Ask a doctor to check Jiaojiao."

"Okay, I understand."

They set out on bicycles and when they arrived at the county town, Cheng Jiawen left his bicycle with Fatty, and they walked to the station and took a bus to the provincial capital.

After many twists and turns along the way, the two finally arrived at the old doctor's place.

"Knock knock knock~ Uncle Hao, are you home?" Cheng Jiawen asked in a low voice while knocking on the door.

"Creaky~" the door opened, and Uncle Hao, who was wearing tattered clothes, stood at the door. When he saw Cheng Jiawen and Xu Qianjiao, a kind smile appeared on his face.

"You're here, come in." After saying that, he opened the door and let the two in.

A few people walked into the yard. It was no different from before, all in tatters, but the good thing was that it was much cleaner inside and there was no unpleasant smell as before.

I think it is because Grandpa Hao knows that his grandson is still alive and has the desire to live, so he is willing to live a good life.

Uncle Hao looked at Cheng Jiawen gratefully. "Jiawen, thanks to you, I was able to get in touch with Xiaoci. He still writes to me occasionally now and then. He wants me to thank you for finding someone to take care of him over there. Really, thank you. You are our family's savior."

Cheng Jiawen waved his hand. "Uncle Hao, you're welcome. I didn't do anything. As for taking care of him, I just asked my brother to help look after him. There's no special care involved."

The third brother happened to be working there, and he just asked him to take care of him if possible privately. There was no special care involved, it was just something that happened out of the blue, and it wasn't a big deal.

"No matter what, you are all great benefactors of our Hao family. Thank you. If you need our help in the future, we will do our best to repay you." Uncle Hao looked at the two of them solemnly with a serious expression on his face.

"Well, let's not talk about this, Uncle Hao. We came here today to ask you to check up on my wife and see how she is recovering." Cheng Jiawen felt a little ashamed. He really didn't do anything, and Uncle Hao thanked him so solemnly that made him feel a little embarrassed.

Uncle Hao nodded and said, "Okay, come in, I'll help you take a look."

The two followed Uncle Hao into the room. Although the furniture in the room was still the smashed ones, the whole room had been carefully cleaned, so although it was shabby, it was not messy.

The clean and tidy environment made both of them feel relieved. They were afraid that the place would be like before, like a garbage dump and emitting a bad smell.

Xu Qianjiao sat at the table and stretched out her hand to feel Mr. Hao's pulse.

Uncle Hao sat on an old wooden chair, eyes slightly closed, and placed three fingers of his right hand gently on Xu Qianjiao's outstretched wrist. His expression was focused and serious, as if he were exploring the mysteries of life through his pulse.

Xu Qianjiao sat quietly opposite Mr. Hao, her eyes revealing a hint of nervousness and anticipation. She bit her lower lip lightly, silently watching Mr. Hao's every move.
