Chapter 41: See a Chinese doctor

Cheng Jiawen smiled politely, turned his head and looked around the alley. After confirming that no one was around, he quietly said, "I was introduced by Brother Xianglin. He said you are a very good Chinese medicine practitioner. My girlfriend accidentally fell into the water some time ago, so I wanted to bring her here to recuperate..."

When Mr. Hao heard that he was coming to see a Chinese doctor, his face immediately turned cold and he wanted to close the door. Cheng Jiawen quickly held the door and pleaded softly, "Mr. Hao, please help me take a look. We promise that only we will know about this, and no one else will know."

"There's no one here. Let's go." Uncle Hao looked at the two of them with a cold face. After saying that, he tried to close the door. Cheng Jiawen held the door tightly, not letting him close it. His eyes were filled with pleading, "Uncle Hao, please, help me."

Uncle Hao remained unmoved and said coldly, "Get out."

Cheng Jiawen held the door shut and said quickly, "I know where your grandson was sent."

"What?" Uncle Hao stared at Cheng Jiawen in shock after hearing the news. "Are you telling the truth?"

Cheng Jiawen nodded solemnly, "It's true. He was sent down to a village in the neighboring city."

Uncle Hao was extremely anxious, but still had a hint of doubt in his heart. "How do I know what you said is true?"

"I can help you deliver the letter, as long as you are willing to help my partner take care of his health."

Uncle Hao thought for a while and nodded slowly, "Okay, you said it, I hope you don't lie to me, an old man."

After saying that, he let go of her hand, turned around and walked into the house. Seeing this, Cheng Jiawen hurriedly took Xu Qianjiao's hand and walked into the yard together.

Xu Qianjiao quietly asked Cheng Jiawen, "Why did you suddenly bring me to see a Chinese doctor? I feel like I'm already well, and his grandson was sent down to the countryside. Will it be dangerous for you to deliver a letter to him?"

She frowned tightly, feeling a little worried.

Cheng Jiawen smiled faintly, reached out to smooth her frown, and comforted her warmly, "It's okay, it would be good for us to seek medical treatment from a Chinese doctor. As for delivering the letter, it's okay. I have a classmate working in the Revolutionary Committee over there. With him around, it won't be a big problem."

After hearing what he said, Xu Qianjiao was still worried, but she didn't want to let him down, so she could only suppress the worry in her heart.

"What are you two still doing outside? Hurry up." Uncle Hao stuck his head out and shouted loudly.

"I'm coming." Cheng Jiawen heard the voice and immediately pulled Xu Qianjiao into the house.

As soon as she entered the room, Xu Qianjiao felt a little uncomfortable. She looked around the room calmly.

The house was in a dilapidated state, with a tattered roof and crumbling tiles and wooden boards that looked as if they would fall off at any moment. The walls were covered in peeling paint, and the floor was covered in a worn carpet covered in dust and dirt.

The room was filled with a pungent smell, a mixture of mold and the stench of garbage, which was suffocating.

Uncle Hao smiled faintly, "I'm sorry, I haven't cleaned this room for a long time, and the smell is a bit unpleasant, please don't mind."

Xu Qianjiao and Cheng Jiawen looked at each other and shook their heads to indicate that they didn't mind. Xu Qianjiao sat down in front of Grandpa Hao. Grandpa Hao looked at her face and began to feel her pulse.

As time passed, Uncle Hao's expression became more and more solemn.
