Chapter 54 Photo Recording

Yan Xiao stayed in the room for as long as Wen Qinghe slept.

Most of the people attending the banquet were villagers, so even though the groom wasn't there, the dinner table was everyone's domain.

The few gentlemen who needed to be accompanied for drinks were all accompanied by Xu Xian and Feng Tiezhu.

After the group finished eating, Aunt Guihua and several other women from the village, who were receiving wages from Yan Xiao, were left.

They then spontaneously helped tidy up the table and wash the dishes.

By the time Wen Qinghe woke up, the banquet outside had already ended.

As the sun sets in the west, its afterglow illuminates the entire courtyard.

Now, the courtyard at the foot of the mountain is empty except for the two of them.

Wen Qinghe opened her eyes and saw the man looking at her with tenderness.

Not hearing any sound from the courtyard, she rubbed her eyes and spoke in a soft, gentle voice:

"Brother Yan, have they all left?"

"Hmm, is my sweetie awake?"

Looking at the warm orange beam of light shining into the room, Wen Qinghe knew that it must be afternoon.

"Do you need any help outside? Why didn't you call me?"

The bride slept all afternoon on her wedding day!

The man chuckled softly and gently brushed away the unruly strands of hair from her head.

“Our little darling is the oldest. No matter when, she can sleep until she naturally wakes up. The aunties outside have all helped tidy up. Are you hungry now? I'll go cook.”

The man's words felt like a warm current flowing into her heart; they had now formed their own little family.

Thinking about their current relationship, she blurted out, almost as if possessed.

"Okay, honey~"

Yan Xiao was stunned on the spot. He had heard from his friends that city people would call their wives "wife" and women would call their husbands "husband".

But when this fashionable title was applied to him, he realized that these two words actually sounded so beautiful.

He wanted to hear it again. Just thinking about those two words coming from the little girl's sweet, soft voice made him feel as if he were being electrocuted.

Her ears also unconsciously turned red.

"Qingqing~ Wife~ Darling~ Can you call me that one more time?"

"No!"

Wen Qinghe was also a little shy at this moment. These two words were coming out of her mouth for the first time, and she only realized how shy she was the moment they came out.

I'm too embarrassed to say anything more now.

Yan Xiao felt a pang of disappointment when he saw that the girl was unwilling to talk anymore.

However, thinking that there was plenty of time for them to get to know each other and that there would be opportunities in the future, the disappointment in their hearts was replaced by the anticipation that had not yet arrived.

He moved the rocking chair from the gazebo to the eaves of the main room and placed a thin blanket on it for her.

On the small stool next to her was a steaming cup of Ganoderma lucidum tea.

Lingzhi tea is good for the heart. After instructing Wen Qinghe to drink it while it's hot, he went to cook.

There were quite a few leftovers from lunch, both meat and vegetables, which could actually be eaten after being heated up.

But Yan Xiao didn't want the young girl to settle for less, and he felt more at ease knowing that he made the food himself.

While the chicken soup was simmering, he put a few pieces of firewood into the stove and then took all the lunch dishes to distribute to the aunties who came to help.

When I delivered it, the aunties were just preparing to cook dinner.

Upon hearing the knock, Yang Guihua dried her hands with a rag and went to open the door.

She was flattered to see Yan Xiao standing outside the door with several bowls of meat dishes.

"Auntie, there's still a lot of food left from lunch, we can't finish it all. If you don't mind, you don't need to cook dinner, you can just reheat it and eat it."

Yang Guihua immediately accepted it with a smile.

"Oh, Xiao Yan, how could I complain? These are all top-quality meat and dishes. We only get to eat this good during holidays. It's all thanks to you!"

"Auntie, you're too kind. I still have to deliver some to a few other aunties, so I won't disturb your meal any longer."

After Yang Guihua saw Yan Xiao off, she saw the several bowls of meat dishes placed on the table and smiled.

I never expected that my two-cent salary would include meat and vegetable portions.

These are all delicious dishes: pig's trotters, braised pork, pork rib soup, and spicy chicken.

Their family is in for a treat tonight!

...

When Yan Xiao delivered the remaining items to the families, the aunties were overjoyed.

When they were cleaning up at noon, they realized there was still a lot of food left.

But this isn't a family event; after all, everyone has leftover food to eat for three days.

Besides, it's cold now, so there's no need to worry about the vegetables spoiling.

They simply tidied the table, washed the dishes, and arranged all the food so the young couple could reheat it and eat it easily.

Who would have thought that this small banquet would be so generous, sending everything to them.

They didn't have much contact with Xiao Yan normally, and only felt that this wolf cub was very cold-hearted.

Now it seems they are cold on the outside but warm on the inside. If anyone speaks ill of this young couple again, they will be the first to object.

...

After Yan Xiao finished delivering the items, the soup in the pot was ready.

He removed one of the firewoods, placed a steamer rack in the pot, lined it with a steaming cloth, and put a few steamed buns on it.

Chop the fresh mushrooms and add them to the egg mixture. Use the remaining heat on the stove to steam the mushrooms and eggs.

Noticing a gaze, he looked up abruptly and saw the little girl by the door seemingly clutching a small pink object.

He didn't pay attention, thinking it was just a little girl's trinket.

"Are you hungry, Qingqing? Finish your Lingzhi tea and you'll be fine soon."

"Uh... okay, I'm not in a rush... take your time..."

Wen Qinghe gripped her phone, thinking how close she had come to being caught taking photos.

Fortunately, she had the foresight to turn off the flash and volume.

Even without the sound of the shutter, she could still sneakily take a few pictures every now and then.

Now, my phone is filled with photos of every flower and tree in the courtyard of this era.

More often, it's the way the man cooks, hangs the laundry, and makes a sofa chair for her...

However, without exception, they were all profile shots and back views.

She wanted to capture the positive aspects, but the moment the man saw her, his gaze fell on nothing else.

This resulted in her never succeeding even once.

She was sitting in a recliner looking at this photo on her phone. It was a picture of the man gently looking up, his dark eyes reflecting her image.

She couldn't help but smile.

"What are you looking at?"
