"Xiaxia, are you alright?" Zhou Laidi glanced worriedly at the door of Jiang Anxia's room.
"Just one cup, I guess...!" Jiang Zhuohua wasn't too sure either, since the girl had never drunk alcohol before.
"I'll go check on it after I'm done washing the dishes." Zhou Laidi was still worried and decided to go check on it after washing the dishes.
"Sister-in-law, let's make some honey water later. I remember we have some at home." Jiang Nanqiu thought for a moment, and seemed to recall having honey at home.
"Okay, I understand." Zhou Laidi nodded, indicating that she understood.
The three of them chatted about random things while washing, without focusing on any particular topic.
"By the way, Xiaxia ran into Jiang Xiaohua this morning when she went out." Zhou Laidi suddenly blurted out.
"Her? What did she do? Did she upset Xiaxia?" Jiang Nanqiu paused in her dishwashing, but quickly resumed her work.
“Xiaxia didn’t say, but I guess she must have offended someone, otherwise she wouldn’t have been unhappy when she came back.” Zhou Laidi shook her head.
She didn't know the specifics and could only guess.
"They really don't learn their lesson." Jiang Nanqiu shook his head helplessly.
It seems he's someone who doesn't learn from mistakes; the lesson he was given was too lenient.
“Who says otherwise!” Jiang Zhuohua chimed in softly.
He knew Jiang Xiaohua all too well; she was jealous, wanted everything, and only appreciated others.
He has the exact same personality as his uncle.
They really are family.
"Forget it, there's no point in saying all this now," Zhou Laidi sighed silently.
It's too late to say anything now. If she were there, she would have slapped Jiang Xiaohua twice to teach her a lesson for being so arrogant.
It's true, when the forest is big, you'll find all kinds of birds.
If this were her sister, she'd be lucky if she didn't yell at her to death.
Really.
"I'll go check on Xiaxia. You guys put the bowl down for a moment." Zhou Laidi wiped the water off her hands, picked up a clean bowl, scooped a spoonful of honey, and added enough warm water to dissolve it.
"Okay." Jiang Zhuohua nodded, his hands continuing to work.
Jiang Zhuohua and Jiang Nanqiu placed the clean bowls from the stove into the cupboard one by one.
Zhou Laidi carefully opened Jiang Anxia's door, carrying a glass of honey water.
When she saw Jiang Anxia lying obediently asleep in bed, a motherly smile appeared on her face.
The little girl is so well-behaved even when she sleeps; she's truly someone I've watched grow up.
Zhou Laidi placed the water on the desk, tucked Jiang Anxia in, and then tiptoed out.
Not long after Zhou Laidi left, Jiang Anxia woke up from her dream with a start, clutching her chest, feeling a momentary palpitation.
She didn't know why, even though she couldn't remember anything from her dream.
Forget it, if I can't remember, I can't remember!
It shouldn't be a big problem.
Jiang Anxia's gaze gradually focused on one spot: the bowl of honey water that Zhou Laidi had placed there.
A smile involuntarily crept onto Jiang Anxia's lips, and she felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
I got out of bed, picked up the bowl, and drank the honey water in small sips.
The sweet taste instantly warmed my heart.
Jiang Anxia placed the empty bowl and looked out the window; there was no one in the yard.
But given how much they drank at noon, they probably won't be able to get up for a while.
After all, Jiang's father had finished the whole jar of liquor.
My mind gradually cleared, and the things I didn't understand disappeared as well.
Jiang Anxia felt as if she had been elevated in an instant.
However, she was quickly brought back to reality by the chirping of birds outside; it was all just her imagination.
There was a knock on the door, and Jiang Anxia snapped out of her daze and opened it.
"Third Brother?" Jiang Anxia looked at Jiang Nanqiu in surprise, wondering what Jiang Nanqiu wanted to see her about.
"Xiaxia, what did Jiang Xiaohua say this morning?" Jiang Nanqiu was asking about the course of events to gauge the severity of the situation.
If it's serious, then Jiang Xiaohua will never have a good life.
If things were to slow down, Jiang Nanqiu might be able to give her a chance to survive, but it wouldn't be a good situation.
"He didn't say anything, but he probably took a liking to my two older brothers, and kept asking me what their names were." Jiang Anxia lowered her eyes slightly.
Her intuition was correct; Jiang Xiaohua must have her eye on either An Yuxi or An Yuning, and wanted to win them over so she could use their influence to get a divorce.
However, Jiang Xiaohua's wishes are destined not to come true.
Given An Yuxi's and An Yuxi's standards, it's impossible for them to be interested in a girl with a personality like Jiang Xiaohua.
"Really..." Jiang Nanqiu was at a loss for words.
Jiang Xiaohua, even after getting married, is still like this.
"Third Brother, why are you asking this?" Jiang Anxia's clear eyes fell on Jiang Nanqiu's face.
"It's nothing, I just heard my sister-in-law mention it and came to ask you." Jiang Nanqiu smiled gently and reached out to pat Jiang Anxia's head.
It's better for the little girl not to know; as long as she's happy, that's all that matters.
"Okay!" Jiang Anxia told herself that things were definitely not that simple, but she didn't ask any further questions.
Jiang Nanqiu must have his reasons for not telling her.
She believed that one day she would find out.
"Are you dizzy?" Jiang Nanqiu asked softly, wanting to know if the little girl was feeling unwell.
"I'm not dizzy," Jiang Anxia replied obediently, shaking her head slightly.
Anyway, she didn't feel uncomfortable at all when she woke up; on the contrary, she felt full of energy.
Jiang Anxia attributed this to her special physical condition, which is why she was like this.
"That's good, rest now! There's hardly anyone here." Jiang Nanqiu glanced at the empty courtyard and spoke softly.
"Haven't Mom and the others come back yet?" Jiang Anxia asked in a low voice, her brows slightly furrowed.
"Yes, they're probably still out and about." Jiang Nanqiu nodded in response.
"Alright, kids shouldn't think so much, or they'll stunt their growth." With that, Jiang Nanqiu turned and left without waiting for Jiang Anxia's reply.
"What?! You're the one who won't grow taller!" Jiang Anxia muttered.
Knowing full well that she hates it when people say she's short, Jiang Nanqiu still danced on her head.
This is deliberately targeting her sore spot!
Is he still her good third brother?
Jiang Nanqiu, whose back was to Jiang Anxia, naturally heard this not-so-quiet remark.
He lowered his head and smiled, a smile full of doting affection.
Kids are kids, otherwise why would they care so much about height? He just thinks Jiang Anxia's current height is just right.
She was neither too tall nor too short, and her head fit perfectly when he touched it.
Unwittingly, Jiang Nanqiu's cunning was exposed.
But no one saw this scene.
Jiang Anxia puffed out her cheeks, her face full of resentment. Why does everyone say she's short?!
Outside, Jiang's mother and An's mother walked hand in hand, talking as they went.
"Look, when Xiaxia was little, I told her to stand there and watch, but she wouldn't listen. She insisted on going down and ended up sitting on the edge of the field," Jiang's mother said to An's mother with a smile, pointing to the field embankment not far away.
"Really! Xiaxia was so naughty when she was little?" Although it came from someone else, An's mother was still very happy to hear it.
