Chapter 138 The Tragic Story of Wu Cuilan

"Xiaxia, what are you thinking about?" An Yuxi put down her things and turned around to see Jiang Anxia lost in thought.

"It's nothing." Jiang Anxia came back to her senses and shook her head slightly.

"Let's eat first! You haven't eaten this morning, you must be hungry now!" An Yuxi went to the water boiler room to get water and heat up her food after getting in the car.

The woman in black came upstairs just as An Yuxi went to heat up her food and Jiang Anxia went shopping.

That's why Jiang Anxia was so affected by the smoke.

If she had known beforehand, she definitely wouldn't have gone in.

"Okay, thank you for your trouble, Third Brother." Jiang Anxia's face turned slightly red.

From the moment she boarded the train, An Yuxi had been concerned about her, worried that something might be wrong with her.

"Silly girl, it's no trouble for your brother to say thank you." An Yuxi smiled and ruffled Jiang Anxia's hair.

"..." Jiang Anxia looked at An Yuxi speechlessly.

You can say whatever you want, but why say she's stupid!

"You're the idiot," Jiang Anxia retorted cautiously.

“Heh…” An Yuxi chuckled softly, looking at Jiang Anxia with a doting smile.

Looking into An Yuxi's eyes, Jiang Anxia was speechless.

Fine, say whatever you want! She didn't argue.

Jiang Anxia sat on the lower bunk, and An Yuxi sat down opposite her.

Just as Zhou Ya had said, there were very few people in this carriage; you could tell how many there were at a glance.

For example, a little ahead of them, Jiang Anxia only saw a young couple sitting quietly on the bed reading a book.

Jiang Anxia glanced at it once and then looked away, knowing that it would be impolite to look any longer.

"Eat up!" An Yuxi handed the chopsticks to Jiang Anxia.

Jiang Anxia reached out and took it, saying, "Thank you."

Jiang Anxia left casually.

An Yuxi didn't take it to heart. After spending a month together, he already knew what kind of personality Jiang Anxia had.

So, each time, she would smile slightly and look at Jiang Anxia with gentle eyes.

The two began to eat quietly.

With the lid open, the aroma of the food wafted through the carriage.

Wu Cuilan turned her head and looked towards Jiang Anxia's direction.

His eyes were fixed on the bowl in Jiang Anxia's hand.

The man next to her coughed lightly when he saw this.

Wu Cuilan immediately looked away, not daring to look anymore.

She knew that if she angered this man, she would be met with an endless beating.

She now deeply regrets marrying this heartless man.

But it was too late for regrets; she didn't even dare to utter a single word about divorce.

Because if this man hears the word "divorce," she will be beaten up just the same way.

She was afraid of going hungry after being beaten, so she dared not speak anymore and could only pray that the man would stop beating her.

Unfortunately, her prayers had no effect; it seemed the gods were not on her side.

She still faces daily beatings and is unable to get food.

So I can't help but stare at other people's food.

She was so hungry, she wanted to eat something.

But she knew that everything she had was wishful thinking, a dream that would never come true.

When she woke up, she was still by this man's side, unable to go anywhere else.

"Is it pretty?" Lin Wu sneered, his cold eyes fixed on Wu Cuilan.

"No... I didn't see it," Wu Cuilan retorted softly.

If you don't refute it, the man will overthink it.

The only thing she admitted was that the man liked her.

His affection was too cheap, worthless, and she didn't care for it.

She would rather not have this affection, because she couldn't bear it.

"You must remember whose wife you are." Lin Wu put down the book in his hand, grabbed Wu Cuilan's hand, and pulled her closer to him.

Lin Wu's eyes were fixed on Wu Cuilan's face, and he saw the expression he wanted to see, which filled him with satisfaction.

"I know." Wu Cuilan was stiff all over and dared not move.

She doesn't know what she did to offend the artificial man, causing him to become like this.

"That would be best. If I find out you have thoughts you shouldn't have, you know what will happen." Lin Wu's cold words stirred up a ripple in Wu Cuilan's heart.

She was afraid that she really couldn't bear the beating.

Every time he hit her, she would lie on the ground for a long time before she could recover.

"Don't worry, I won't." Wu Cuilan's voice was soft and slightly trembling.

"Heh..." Lin Wu's lips curled slightly, and he let out a cold laugh.

He released Wu Cuilan's hand, straightened his collar, and then picked up a book to read as if nothing had happened.

Wu Cuilan breathed a slight sigh of relief when she saw his gaze shift away.

He glanced at Lin Wu warily before quickly averting his gaze.

Here we go again. She was initially drawn to this man because of his appearance.

A person with a scholarly air, gentle and kind.

But she only found out after she married him.

All of this was just a performance by the man, meant for others to see.

Jiang Anxia felt a gaze on her, and she turned her head to look.

She was the woman between that young couple.

She has a gentle and virtuous appearance.

Jiang Anxia nodded slightly and smiled.

Wu Cuilan was startled and quickly lowered her head.

Jiang Anxia found it strange, but explained that the person was simply not used to greeting strangers, which was why they did that.

Wu Cuilan lowered her head, her heart filled with turmoil.

That girl looks so familiar.
