Chapter 39 Hehe (?ˉ??ˉ??)

"It's just a little work, what's so tiring about it?" Jiang's mother replied nonchalantly.

She's been doing these things for decades, and she's gotten used to it.

"Alright, alright, go out and play." If her hands weren't oily, Jiang's mother would have pushed Jiang Anxia out directly.

"Well... alright!" Jiang Anxia walked out, turning back every few steps.

Just as she turned around, she saw Jiang's mother raise a kitchen knife and look at her with a terrifying smile.

Jiang Anxia ran away immediately.

She was terrified by what Jiang's mother had just done; it was absolutely terrifying.

I never imagined that Jiang's mother would go to such lengths to get her out of the kitchen.

Alright! Leaving behind the annoying one, Jiang Anxia decided to go and take a look at the dam.

The slaughtering of pigs for the New Year should not be over yet, so it's not too late to go now.

Without hesitation, Jiang Anxia ran away.

The two people in the main room stared blankly at the empty room except for them.

"What... Xiaxia, didn't you come in?" Jiang Nan said, feeling wronged. He had rushed back overnight for his younger sister's birthday.

As it turns out, I haven't even had a chance to look at her much, and now my sister has disappeared.

Wronged.(.??︿??.)

He wanted to see his sweet, gentle younger sister, not this bratty younger brother in front of him.

"I don't know." Jiang Nanqiu glanced at Jiang Nanqing coldly, her eyes narrowing slightly.

How come this older brother is even dumber than Xiaxia? He's been away for three years and only grown taller but not smarter.

I'd better stay a little further away from him to avoid becoming stupid myself.

Quietly, Jiang Nanqiu took a step away.

Jiang Nanqing was preoccupied with thinking about Jiang Anxia and didn't notice Jiang Nanqiu's subtle actions.

"Never mind, I'll go ask Mom." Unable to get an answer from Jiang Nanqiu, Jiang Nanqing decided to ask her mother.

He turned around and left the main room, heading towards the kitchen.

Jiang Nanqiu didn't follow, but went back to her room.

He needed to think carefully about what he had learned this morning.

Jiang Xiaohua, this woman, he will make her pay the price; if it weren't for her, his sister would still be alive.

On another level, it is because of her that he has the Xiaxia he is today.

It can be said that everything is because of Jiang Xiaohua.

Moreover, he said that Xiaxia is still his biological sister, and that's true.

He will treat her the same as before.

Jiang Anxia walked slowly toward the dam, and along the way she saw several children walking in the same direction as her.

They're probably all going to watch the slaughter of the pig for the New Year.

After all, some children don't eat meat all year round.

So during this special time, the parents at home will exchange some of their work points for meat, but not much. They can only taste meat during the Lunar New Year.

Along the way, Jiang Anxia watched the children running and jumping, their figures full of joy.

That's wonderful; it makes her want to go back to her childhood.

But what children in this era, apart from those who are pampered at home, are truly carefree?

Some children help with various chores at a very young age, such as washing clothes, cooking, feeding pigs, or even working to earn work points.

This is everything they have to endure at such a young age.

Just as Jiang Anxia was about to arrive, she stopped in her tracks, her eyes fixed on Gu Yanzhu in front of her.

To be honest, after she agreed to date him, they did spend a lot of time together, but she usually sneaked out without letting the Jiang family find out.

Gu Yanzhu treated her incredibly well, and aside from matters of principle, he basically always went along with her wishes.

Thinking about it, Jiang Anxia smiled sweetly as she looked at Gu Yanzhu.

In the distance, Gu Yanzhu looked at the little girl smiling happily at him, and his heart melted.

He slightly curled the corners of his mouth and walked towards the little girl.

"Why did you come out?" Gu Yanzhu asked the little girl gently.

He now understands the girl quite well; she's afraid of the cold and tries to stay home as much as possible.

Why did you agree to come out today?

"I want to go see the New Year's pig distribution," Jiang Anxia replied softly.

"Xia Bao, come with me." Gu Yanzhu looked at the little girl and felt a little tingly.

“Okay,” Jiang Anxia replied obediently.

He followed behind Gu Yanzhu.

She didn't know where Gu Yanzhu was taking her, but Jiang Anxia was certain that he wouldn't harm her.

Gu Yanzhu kept walking, but not very fast, because he had to keep track of the little girl's pace.

If you walk too fast, the little girl can't keep up.

This speed is just right now, something he discovered after several days of research.

Soon, Gu Yanzhu led Jiang Anxia to the back of a dilapidated thatched hut.

Jiang Anxia didn't even realize it before she bumped into Gu Yanzhu.

Gu Yanzhu turned around, looked at the little girl whose head was resting against his chest, and chuckled softly.

Hearing the whisper, Jiang Anxia blushed.

Since things had already come to this, Jiang Anxia stretched out her hand and hugged Gu Yanzhu's waist.

Gu Yanzhu's pupils contracted, clearly not expecting the little girl's move.

Coming to his senses, he reached out and hugged the little girl.

He rested his chin on the top of the little girl's head and gently rubbed it.

"What's wrong with my sweet baby?"

"It's nothing." Because she was in Gu Yanzhu's arms, Jiang Anxia's voice sounded muffled.

After saying that, Jiang Anxia snuggled closer to Gu Yanzhu, trying to bury herself in his arms, and tightened her grip on Gu Yanzhu's arms.

Gu Yanzhu didn't know what had happened to the little girl, but he hugged her tightly to give her a sense of security.

Jiang Anxia raised her head and looked at Gu Yanzhu, who was hugging her.
