Chapter 103 Chasing the Husband
That night, the base was attacked by mutant beasts.
Even the moon is blood red.
The searchlights outside the base went out one by one, and darkness came like a tide.
The soldier on the watchtower had just let out a half-scream when he was dragged into the shadows by some huge force. Only half of his broken rifle was left falling from the sky, hitting Tang Jingmo's feet with a "bang".
"Everyone be on alert! It's a night attack by a pack of beasts!" he shouted harshly, pulling out a laser gun with his backhand.
Howls were heard one after another in the distance, and countless pairs of green eyes lit up in the darkness. The mutated wolves after the apocalypse were as fast as lightning, and their claws could easily tear steel plates.
What's even scarier is that they always appear in groups.
Tang Jingmo's adjutant had just raised his submachine gun when he was pounced upon by a dark shadow. The moment the smelly fangs pressed against his throat -
“Swish!”
A silver light flashed, and the mutant wolf's head flew high.
A slender figure stood in front of Tang Jingmo, and the saber glowed cold blue in the moonlight.
"Captain Tang, the commander should not be standing here, go back!"
Xiaobai's words were rude, but Tang Jingmo didn't feel angry at all when he heard them. Instead, he felt very warmed.
Xiaobai's figure shuttled among the beasts, so fast that it almost left an afterimage.
The first cut slit the throat of the giant wolf that pounced on the wounded;
The second knife pierced the eyeball of the giant beast that tried to attack the sentry tower;
The third knife directly cut through the mutant bat wings that dived from the air.
Her movements were smooth and each strike hit the vital points accurately, as if she had already predicted all the attack routes. It seemed that she had performed each move countless times and was as familiar with it as if she was teasing a pet in her own backyard.
Tang Jingmo stared at her blankly, an indescribable sense of familiarity filling his features.
"Base Commander, she's right, you can't stay here!"
The adjutant pulled Tang Jingmo back.
Tang Jingmo knew that he had more important things to do, but his eyes could not leave the woman not far away.
Her eyes were so terrifying, but in his eyes they were the brightest stars in the sky.
When a three-meter-tall wolf king broke through the defense line, she actually curled her lips and took the initiative to greet it.
Sparks flew when the saber collided with the claws. She suddenly changed her tactics at the moment of the confrontation. The blade moved along the meridians of the monster's forelimbs and cut off a whole mutant bone blade.
"Nice joint lock..."
Tang Jingmo murmured subconsciously, and then suddenly woke up - this was clearly his own original killer move, how could she do that?
When the battle was over, Xiaobai's combat boots were soaked in blood. She shook off the stains on her knife and turned to leave.
"stop!"
Tang Jingmo grabbed her wrist, and it felt so cold that it didn't feel like a living person.
In the light of the fire, he could see that the bullet holes on her combat uniform were slowly healing.
"Who are you?" He put the muzzle of his gun against her back. "No ordinary person can use 'Return'. It's my original move."
Xiaobai turned her face to the side, and the dancing flames swayed in her pupils.
She opened her mouth, but finally just whispered: "Someone...who doesn't want to lose you again."
These words hit Tang Jingmo's heart like a bullet.
He vaguely saw in his memory fragments that a girl had smiled at him like this, but he could not remember the details.
The next morning, Xiaobai was stopped outside the command department.
"The base commander has ordered that you are forbidden to participate in any operations." The guard handed over the note with embarrassment.
There is only one cold sentence on it: [I don’t need protection from unknown details]
On the training ground, she saw Tang Jingmo personally instructing the soldiers in combat. When she approached, he immediately turned and walked in the opposite direction.
"Tang Jingmo!" She finally couldn't help but stop him, "Are you sick? Why are you hiding from me?!"
"Lin Xiaobai!" He interrupted with a cold face.
"You saved me, I'm grateful. But your identity is still in doubt, I hope you can cooperate with the investigation. Also, I'm not hiding from you, I just have something urgent to go back to the office."
His adjutant added quietly: "The base commander hates being deceived the most."
"Who lied to him!" Xiaobai muttered.
She made a face at Tang Jingmo's back, "You've lost your memory again, and this time you're even more cruel than before! Humph! When you remember, you're dead!"
Late at night, Xiaobai sat alone on the roof of the base.
Snowflakes fell on her open palms and were instantly evaporated by the warmth of her palms.
She practiced all the moves she had used with Tang Jingmo facing the air.
"Idiot! Bastard! Bastard!" She suddenly thrust her saber into the cracks between the bricks. "You actually gave me the cold shoulder. You're really getting better and better!"
Behind me came the sound of snow being trampled.
Tang Jingmo was standing under the eaves at some point, with snowflakes falling on his shoulders.
He looked up at the quivering knife handle in the cracks of the bricks and said in a hoarse voice: "You should lower it another three centimeters."
Xiaobai suddenly lowered his head and looked at him.
"Starting tomorrow," he turned and left, his military coat fluttering in the wind and snow, "you will be my personal adjutant."
"Personal adjutant?! Hey! That's too much to ask for!" Xiaobai jumped down and caught up with the stinky man in front.
On the second day, Xiaobai reluctantly came to the headquarters' training room, which was filled with the smell of sweat and rust.
Tang Jingmo was standing with his back to the door, adjusting the straps of the sandbag, his military shirt revealing sharp lines supported by his shoulder blades.
"Report." Xiaobai leaned against the door, admiring someone's back. The word "report" came out of her mouth with a hint of spring.
Tang Jingmo said without even turning his head: "Put on the protective gear."
The sandbag was suddenly hit by a fierce side kick, and the iron chain made a harsh groan.
Tang Jingmo then turned around, her pupils slightly shrank - she was not wearing any protective gear at all, standing there bare-handed, with the sleeves of her training uniform rolled up to her elbows, revealing the unhealed abrasions on her forearms.
"I said wear protective gear."
"It hinders my ability to exert force. I'm not used to it!" She looked him straight in the eyes.
Tang Jingmo's knuckles tightened on the sandbag, leaving five small pits on the leather surface.
Is it a coincidence that her habits are the same as his, or does she really understand him?
Her words made it seem like his wearing of protective gear was unnecessary and deliberate.
"Come on, show me your full strength!"
Tang Jingmo took a defensive posture. Xiaobai raised his eyebrows, thinking of the fierce battle between the two in the 1970s, and his fighting spirit was aroused.
The two men exchanged punches and kicks, each move was fatal, and wherever their fists went, there was a mess.
The more they fought, the weirder Tang Jingmo felt.
Why is he so familiar with her ways?
Or in other words, why is she so familiar with his moves?
It was as if they had practiced together countless times.
"Go on." Xiao Bai laughed while panting, beads of sweat sliding down his collarbone into his collar, "Captain Tang, please show some mercy?"
The next second she was thrown hard onto the mat.
Tang Jingmo grabbed her wrists and pressed them over her head, and pressed his knee against the artery on the inside of her thigh.
This absolutely suppressive posture seemed extremely ambiguous because of the violent heaving of each other's chests.
"Who are you?" His voice was extremely hoarse, and his breath sprayed on her lips. "What is your purpose in approaching me?"
Xiaobai suddenly twisted his waist, and the friction of his combat pants made a face-burning sound.
Tang Jingmo felt dizzy and when he came to his senses he was pressed down on the mat with her cold fingers against his carotid artery.
"Commander Tang," she brushed his ear with her red lips, and every word was like a knife wrapped in honey, "I like you. Is this purpose satisfactory?"
