Chapter 89 The Eighth Fragment

Chapter 89 The Eighth Fragment

Tang Jingmo was about to explore the way when he suddenly heard a sharp whistle behind him.

Jiang Hang ran over breathlessly: "Captain! I just received an encrypted telegram, the East China Sea Fleet..."

He looked around warily, "...fishing out a glowing iron coffin from the sea!"

The waves suddenly became violent. The celebratory songs in the distance were still floating in the air, but it seemed as if they were separated by a thick layer of frosted glass.

"Looks like we have to go out to sea!" Xiaobai touched his wrist and found SO1 was unusually active. It seemed that there were other SO1 species in the sea.

Perhaps it was the eighth fragment.

The iron coffin glowed with an eerie blue light under the ship's searchlight.

Tang Jingmo put on welding gloves - the closest thing to radiation protection equipment the East China Sea Fleet could find - and gently brushed away the barnacles on the surface.

On the rusty metal, the etched mark of "Kunlun-7" is still clear.

"It's not the Soviet standard." Xiao Bai scanned the seam with the SO1 ring. "The rivet arrangement looks like... the patent of Krupp in Germany in 1936."

Jiang Hang suddenly gasped.

As the sea mud peeled off, a palm-sized glass window appeared on the side of the coffin.

Through the turbid liquid, one can see a human figure in a Zhongshan suit curled up inside, with the skin covered with silver-blue mycelium-like substances.

"Stand back!" Tang Jingmo pulled everyone away.

Almost at the same time, the window cracked with a "click" and spider-web-like pattern, and some fluorescent liquid was seeping out from the gap, corroding the deck and forming hissing bubbles.

"Get ready for a deep dive." Tang Jingmo unbuttoned his windbreaker, revealing the rubber lining of his diving suit.

Xiaobai next to him is dressed the same way.

This was temporarily modified using tire inner tubes and raincoats from fishing boats, with a thick hemp rope used for militia training wrapped around the waist as a safety rope.

"Captain, are they going to be okay?"

"You're such a crow! If you can't speak, shut up!"

"I mean, our army is not familiar with the ocean. Should we wait for the navy to come before going down?"

"Don't worry, the two captains won't go down without assurance."

After the members of the War Dragon Team and the Wolf King Team were rescued from the back mountain, they were all full of energy again after the poison was removed. However, they were used to staying on land, and the subsequent training in the sea always had constant problems. No wonder they judged others by themselves and worried about Tang Jingmo and Lin Xiaobai.

When the sun was swallowed by dark clouds, the two had dived to the seabed twenty meters deep.

The waterproof flashlight in Xiaobai's hand was wrapped in three layers of red cloth - this was a folk remedy taught by Captain Zhang, which could provide illumination without disturbing deep-sea creatures.

Wherever the beam of light passed, schools of small silver fish suddenly turned collectively, as if being pulled by an invisible magnetic field.

"Over there!" A string of bubbles came out of Tang Jingmo's oxygen mask.

In the reefs ahead, the half-sunken submarine command tower was slanted in the sand, and the rusty periscope was entangled with fresh seaweed - it was obvious that it had been touched recently.

The submarine's hatch was ajar. The moment Tang Jingmo pushed the hatch open with the barrel of a Type 56 submachine gun, a cloud of silver-blue mist suddenly spurted out.

The SO1 ring on Xiaobai's wrist suddenly flashed.

"There is a strong radiation source!" Xiaobai warned.

"Badges!" Tang Jingmo suddenly shouted. Hundreds of Chairman Mao badges were nailed to the inner wall of the cabin, arranged in precise concentric circles.

The red paint on the one in the center has peeled off, revealing the sophisticated circuit board underneath - this is not a commemorative medal at all, but some kind of sonic transmitter.

Just as Xiaobai was about to touch it, the entire submarine suddenly shook violently. The rusted steel plates made a teeth-grinding groan, and a large number of bubbles gushed out from the cracks in the floor.

Tang Jingmo stumbled onto the console and accidentally hit a button.

“Buzz——”

All the badges lit up red at the same time, and a three-dimensional nautical chart was suddenly projected onto the bulkhead.

Seven red dots form the shape of the Big Dipper, and their location is exactly the missing eighth star!

"Not a submarine..."

Xiaobai's voice was cold in the mask, "This is a mobile laboratory!"

She shone her flashlight into a corner where dozens of glass jars were stacked, each with a variety of specimens floating inside.

On the jar in the front row, there is a yellowed label: "Su Xiao's blood sample".

Xiaobai's eyes flashed with a dangerous light, and she licked her little tiger teeth: "Finally you made a move again, you are so persistent towards us!"

She swam to the control console to check, "What you touched just now was not a button, but a fingerprint lock."

"Fingerprint lock? My fingerprint?" Tang Jingmo never expected that an experimental cabin of unknown age would have his fingerprint record.

The roar of machinery could be heard from deep within the submarine, and the floor was slowly sinking, revealing a larger spherical cabin underneath.

Through the observation window, one can see a diamond-shaped black crystal suspended in the cabin, which is emitting regular red light.

"The eighth fragment..."

Her words were interrupted by the sudden water pressure.

Xiaobai's SO1 ring reappeared, and the golden ring emitted a strong light, as if calling for partners in front.

The entire submarine was like a can flattened by a giant hand, with sea water pouring in from all directions.

Xiaobai only felt that the SO1 ring was as hot as a branding iron, and the golden halo expanded uncontrollably, propping up a bubble-like space in the turbulent sea water.

"Hold on to me!" she just shouted.

The world suddenly became quiet.

In the blink of an eye, the two disappeared from the bottom of the sea.

The glaring sunlight made both of them squint their eyes.

The cracked earth, the purple sky, the distorted communication tower in the distance...this damn familiar feeling made Xiaobai's stomach twitch.

"Death Canyon?" Tang Jingmo's voice was as dry as sandpaper. "Are we back in time to 2175?"

Xiaobai pinched his arm hard.

"ah!"

Tang Jingmo's gasp was heard from the side.

"pain!"

"The pain means it's not an illusion." Xiaobai clapped his hands and suddenly found that his feet seemed to be growing on the ground.

She tried to lift her legs, but couldn't even move her toes. "What the hell! We're pinned here!"

A series of explosions were heard in the distance.

I saw an agile figure leaping across the canyon, with electric light swirling on his black combat uniform and his short hair standing upright like steel needles.

The man threw a ball of lightning back, illuminating her face which was exactly the same as Xiaobai's.

"It's really weird!" Xiaobai's jaw almost dropped to the ground.

"To be precise, it's you in the last days." Tang Jingmo suddenly pointed to the sky, "Look at that."

A mutant vulture with a wingspan of over thirty meters was swooping down, with half a subway car hanging in its claws.

What’s even more terrifying is that there was a man in a white coat riding on its back, his gold-rimmed glasses reflecting a cold light in the sun.

"Dr. Chen!" the two said in unison, "Why is he here?!"

Xiaobai in the last days also seemed to have discovered the danger.

She suddenly turned towards the two of them, with a sly smile on her lips.

Just when the mutant beasts were about to pounce on her, she did something that made Tang Jingmo shudder - she smashed the thunder ball hard onto the ground.

"She's going to detonate the underground methane veins!" Tang Jingmo instinctively pounced on Xiaobai, but forgot that he couldn't move at all.

"As expected of me! Smart!"
