Chapter 101 Cooperation with Jingui

Chapter 101 Cooperation with Jingui

Since Jin Gui listened to Zhong Qiao's advice, she found an excuse, tried every possible means, and entered the house despite the contempt of her parents-in-law.

At first, they were still living in fear, but maybe it was because their parents-in-law had lost their son at such an old age that they felt resentful. However, when faced with the clever and smart little Mantou, the two old people's usually cold hearts softened a little, and they were not so harsh to the mother and son.

Therefore, Jingui lived a relatively comfortable life these days.

"Mom, when can I go home?"

Little Mantou went out for a walk and came home covered in dust. He walked up to Jingui and tugged at her sleeve, his black and white eyes filled with grievance.

"I want to go home."

"We can't go back yet." Jingui said as she shelled beans, "What's wrong? Isn't it fun at grandpa and grandma's house?"

Little Mantou muttered quietly: "Grandpa and grandma are always weird to me. One moment they are very nice to me, and the next moment they tell me to get lost."

Jin Gui smiled bitterly, this was because the two old people had not yet gotten over the hurdle in their hearts.

Jin Gui sighed, pulled the little Mantou into her arms, and coaxed him patiently. Seeing that her son still looked unhappy, she realized belatedly that she had been so busy avoiding Cheng Fugui and the business that she had missed her son's birthday.

This clever little kid always looks forward to having a good meal on his birthday every year. No wonder he is so unhappy.

However, with Cheng Fugui outside, Jin Gui really couldn't take it lightly.

Jingui reached out and stroked the few strands of black hair on his forehead that were damp with sweat. "Little Mantou, I will definitely do what I promised you. Can you just be patient for a few days?"

Little Mantou was always obedient and nodded, which almost melted Jingui's heart.

The mother and son were enjoying this warmth, but Zhong Qiao's voice came from behind them.

"Jin Gui, you don't have to hide anymore."

Jin Gui recognized the source of the voice, and in an instant, her originally worried face was replaced by ecstasy. She pulled Xiao Mantou up and saw Zhong Qiao standing outside the fence.

"Jin Gui." Zhong Qiao greeted her with a smile, "Long time no see."

There were simple wooden tables and chairs in the yard, and Jingui poured her a pot of tea.

"I didn't know you were coming, so this tea is all I'll have. Don't mind."

Zhong Qiao's fingertips caressed the warmth coming from the tea bowl: "I came here today because I have good news to tell you."

Jin Gui sat down and sighed, "What good news could there be? Cheng Fugui has been squatting at my doorstep day and night these days. If there really is something good, I hope it's Cheng Fugui who's in trouble!"

Zhong Qiao smiled and said, "You're right."

So I told her the whole story.

Jin Gui was speechless, overwhelmed by ecstasy and at a loss. God knew how hard she had been going these days. She was under pressure and had to endure the contempt of her parents-in-law. She was so busy that she even forgot her son's birthday.

It’s all that damn Cheng Fugui’s fault!

But now, Zhong Qiao gave her great news!

"Is this true?" Jingui was ecstatic, then said angrily, "It's best if you never come out again!"

Little Mantou curled up in her arms, looking at Zhong Qiao timidly.

It was the first time he saw such a beautiful sister.

She has fair skin and big eyes. When she looks at him, it seems like she can speak, with a slight smile, and is very gentle.

Zhong Qiao had seen him last time, but because it was too hasty, she didn't get to say a few words to him. Now that she had the chance and saw how cute he was, she waved to him.

Xiao Mantou was a little hesitant, but with Jingui's encouragement, he carefully stepped forward and held Zhong Qiao's hand.

"How old are you?" Zhong Qiao wanted to tease him and shook his two little hands, just like a good friend playing house.

Little Mantou blushed: "Auntie, I just had my birthday two days ago. I turned five!"

Zhong Qiao observed the child, his physique, his small body. Although he was thin, his complexion was rosy, his eyes were bright, and his hair was black, which was enough to show that Jingui had put a lot of thought into him.

As both were women and mothers, and even knowing how difficult life was for widows in this era, Jingui was able to raise her child so well, yet she herself was pale and thin. Zhong Qiao looked at Jingui with admiration, and another idea came to his mind.

"Let's go." Zhong Qiao picked up the little mantou and said, "Auntie, I haven't given the little mantou a birthday present yet. I'm taking you to a restaurant today."

Little Mantou's eyes lit up.

Going out to eat?

When his father was still alive, he vaguely remembered some things. His father was very good to him and his mother. Every time he got home from get off work, his mother would hold him in her arms and sit on the back of her bicycle. His father would ride the bicycle, looking at them and smiling, and then take them to a restaurant.

Thinking of this, Xiao Mantou's expression became gloomy.

It’s a pity that since his father died, his once amiable grandparents have changed, and he can’t remember the last time he had noodles.

Jingui wanted to reach out and stop them, but seeing the two of them were in high spirits, she froze there awkwardly, her hands still frozen in mid-air. "How can this be? You're a guest at my house, how can I ask you to pay for our meal?"

Zhong Qiao stopped her directly: "Alright, if you say that again I'll regret it."

At the end, I added a sentence on purpose.

"I have some business to attend to, and I need to tell you that this place is not very convenient."

Jingui is good in every way except that she is too talkative and timid. If she receives a little favor from others, she will act timid and submissive.

Seeing her serious expression, Jin Gui didn't know what to say.

When they arrived at the noodle shop, Zhong Qiao was the first to order a bowl of pork chop noodles in red soup, Xiao Mantou ordered chicken leg noodles, and Jingui refused to eat anything. Later, Zhong Qiao was too lazy to talk nonsense and directly ordered a bowl of pork noodles.

Jingui felt so embarrassed that she didn't know what to do.

Zhong Qiao was already eating heartily.

Zhong Qiao hadn't had a proper meal these past two days because he had to battle wits and courage with the women in his family, and with the sudden incident of Zhong Long being kidnapped. Now, he finally had a bowl of delicious food.

Next came the chicken drumstick noodles and pork noodles.

The chicken leg noodles are served in white soup, with chicken soup as the base and a layer of chopped green onions sprinkled on top, which makes them very fragrant. Little Mantou was drooling with greed, but he did not forget to look at Jingui on the side.

Jingui was relieved: "Thank you first, Auntie, and then eat."

Little Mantou nodded vigorously: "Thank you, Auntie."

Zhong Qiao stopped and smiled at him: "Eat."

After getting the accurate answer, Xiao Mantou started to eat heartily with peace of mind. Jingui also put a large portion of lean meat into Xiao Mantou's bowl and smiled with pursed lips.

Zhong Qiao ate most of the meal before talking about another matter.

"Jin Gui, I want you to help me with collective purchases in the countryside. I'll pay you according to your salary when the time comes."

Jingui used to be an accountant in a large company, and she almost spit out words when she heard this.

Was this a mistake? She was just helping with the acquisition, and Zhong Qiao was actually paying her a salary? Doesn't this mean that not only could she make money selling the goods, but she could also earn another income through acquisitions and cooperation with Zhong Qiao.
