Chapter 9 Biological Parents

Liu Kangkang was unhappy and pouted and yelled, "Why? Grandma is bad. Don't bully Mom. Kangkang will beat you!"

Grandma Liu quickly hugged her grandson and whispered to him, "Oh, my dear, how could you hit me? You can tell me when we get home, but you can't tell me here. If you tell me, there will be no braised pork. I brought you here to ask my aunt and uncle for money. Only when we have money can we eat meat and buy toys..."

…

"We've arrived at the island—everyone line up and get off. Hold onto the elderly and children, and don't leave any cargo behind!"

Chu Yun followed the others off the boat and took a look at the so-called island.

The land is bare and flat, with almost no tall buildings. The only eye-catching thing is the few trees and grass.

The people waiting for their families by the boat had tanned skin and their simple clothes even had patches on them.

Fortunately, Chu Yun was dressed rather simply and had bought a straw hat when she boarded the boat, so she wasn't too conspicuous in the crowd.

After getting off the boat, Chu Yun took out the information in her bag, confirmed the address again, and prepared to ask someone for directions.

She looked around and saw a thin woman walking towards her from a distance. She had a blue kerchief wrapped around her head, her skin was rough and dark, and she was holding a small basket in her hand.

It looked like he was a local. Chu Yun walked over and was about to ask.

Suddenly, a shrill call came from behind.

"Lihua! Why are you dawdling? Didn't I tell you to come earlier? Kang'er and I are almost starving after traveling all the way here."

The woman in front of Chu Yun was startled, her lips moved, and she hurried towards the person.

I only heard her say apologetically: "I'm sorry, auntie, something urgent happened at home, I brought you some buns, you can eat a few first, Qingshan is cooking."

When Chu Yun heard Lihua, she was still a little skeptical until the woman said the word "Qingshan".

She immediately confirmed that these were the biological parents she was looking for. As expected, the place was small and the probability of meeting them was high.

She glanced at the old lady with a frown on her face and couldn't imagine that this was her relative.

The old lady stuffed her precious grandson in her arms and the messy luggage in the empty bamboo basket on her back into the woman's arms.

She rudely pulled the basket over, saw four buns on it, and with a look of disgust, handed one to her grandson. She picked up two and ate them herself, complaining in dissatisfaction.

"Lihua, I'm not saying anything bad about you, but we're actually relatives. I've raised your daughter for so many years, and you're trying to fool me with just four buns. I've come all this way here, and I'm starving. These tiny buns aren't even enough to fill my stomach."

The woman was holding the heavy Liu Kangkang, with the bundle of things slung over her neck, and frantically clutching the bamboo basket in her hands. She hurriedly explained, "Yes, Auntie, you've worked hard. Qingshan bought some meat, and we'll be able to eat it when we get home."

Aunt Liu saw that she was slow to speak and introverted, so she waved her hand impatiently. "Alright, it's so tiring to listen to you. Please lead the way. Oh, and have you prepared Jinxiu's living expenses? Don't go borrowing them like last time and waste my time."

Li Lihua was sweating profusely. She kept holding the child in her arms and staggered as she walked, saying, "Okay, Qingshan went to the sea to catch fish with others. Now we have collected 300 yuan. Auntie, how is my Xiuxiu?"

"She's very good. We raised her to be plump and white. Now that she's not taking the high school entrance exam, the cost of college will be very high. You have to hurry up and prepare, otherwise 300 yuan a semester won't be enough."

Aunt Liu was walking leisurely, carrying a basket and eating buns.

Li Lihua's eyes were red as she nodded with relief. "Oh, that's good. Summer vacation is almost here, and I don't know if Xiuxiu will come back."

"Come on, your family can't even afford meat. This place is even harder than the countryside. I asked her to come, but she didn't want to..."

Chu Yun finally understood. It turned out that this old man was the foster family that Chu Jinxiu mentioned.

This was the 1980s, when prices were calculated by the cent and by the gross amount. Tuition fees for elementary, middle, and high schools were generally only 20 or 30 yuan.

Food costs only a few cents per pound and doesn't cost much. 100 yuan for a semester is more than enough. But she asked for 300 yuan. You should know that the average worker's salary is only a few dozen yuan a month.

Chu Yun followed her, took the bundle and bamboo basket from the woman's hand and threw it on the ground.

"Hey, you damn girl, how did you show up? Who told you to throw my things? Now you have to pay me back!"

Aunt Liu swallowed the bun in her hand in one gulp, then walked up and pushed Chu Yun.

Chu Yun pushed her away, snatched his darling grandson and threw him into her arms, "Chu Jinxiu ran off to Lincheng to find his biological parents a long time ago, and you're still lying here? Take your darling grandson and get out of here!"

Li Lihua, who was standing by, was startled by the little girl who suddenly appeared, but when people saw her face clearly, she was a little stunned.

Because he is 50% similar to myself when I was young.

Aunt Liu hugged her beloved grandson and angrily yelled, "You little bitch! Where did you come from? Who do you think you are? You're meddling in our family affairs. Get out of here!"

Chu Yun dealt with this shrew by subduing her directly and spat at her: "Old thing, I was uncomfortable in the car and let you go. Do you really think you are so important?"

"Are you deaf? Didn't you hear me say that Chu Jinxiu went to find her biological parents? Chu Jinxiu and I took the wrong child. This is my mother. Stop bullying her. She's not at your house, and you still have the nerve to ask for money? Be careful or I'll call the police and charge you with fraud."

Aunt Liu was stunned and looked at her in disbelief.

Otherwise, she would think that this dead girl looked like Li Lihua, and it turned out that she was their child.

Li Lihua's face turned even paler. She looked at Chu Yun in disbelief, moved her mouth, and then big tears fell down.

Before Chu Yun could explain, the person suddenly fainted.

The incident happened suddenly, after a period of chaos and war.

Chu Yun was sitting in the Chu family's yard, holding an apple given by her biological father.

Aunt Liu sat opposite, holding her grandson, her face dark and blue as she complained to Chu Qingshan, "This girl is so rude! You don't know how she bullied me and Kang'er all the way here. She even told me to get lost just now. She doesn't tell the truth at all. Who knows if she's an imposter?"

Chu Qingshan was wearing a coarse linen shirt and black-framed glasses. He looked very humble and kind.

Facing the elders' accusations, he just said politely: "His aunt, the child is still young, don't say that, I will ask myself."

Aunt Liu was about to say something when Chu Yun slammed her hand on the table and gave her a cold look: "Will you shut up? Or I'll knock your teeth out!"

Aunt Liu was so angry that she had a headache. The adorable grandson in her arms kept shouting, "Grandma said she'd call the police and have you jailed. Stop talking."

The two of them finally calmed down, and Chu Qingshan said, "His aunt, whether it's true or not, I want to talk to this girl first to decide. Please take Kang Kang out for a walk."
