Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Pei Ze didn't even look at her. He picked up his mother, stepped on the snow, and walked out.

Zhong Miao followed behind with one foot deep and one foot shallow.

Pei Ze grew angrier as he thought about it. His mother had done nothing wrong to Zhong Miao, but what about Zhong Miao? If she could overthrow her mother-in-law today, would she abuse her child tomorrow?

Hearing irregular footsteps behind him, he suddenly turned around and glared at her fiercely with his bloodshot eyes. "Zhong Miao, we're going to the city to get a divorce in a few days. You pack your things and get out. Go back to your own home."

Pei Ze strode away holding his mother, his worry growing.

Zhong Miao hadn't figured out the situation yet, but she stopped when she heard this. Pei Ze was a little scary, and she couldn't help but be afraid.

She calmed herself down and carefully recalled what had just happened.

The angle of the door, the positions of her and her mother-in-law, and what Pei Ze said, the facts were there, what else was there that she didn't understand.

What a huge pot of melodrama, with such a clichéd plot, the original author didn't dare to write it like this, are the male and female supporting characters going to be teased like this?

Zhong Miao figured it out and was in no mood to worry about it. But her mother-in-law really fainted.

But she couldn't catch up with Pei Ze and could only watch him disappear from her sight.

After calming down for a moment, she decided not to go since she couldn't keep up. She returned to the house and said, "An An, stay home for a while. Dad and grandma will be back later."

"Mom, won't you stay with me?" An An had just woken up and looked at Zhong Miao with a pair of big watery eyes.

"I have to go out for something, just be good." Zhong Miao's heart softened and he took out two candies from his pocket.

"Okay, Mom, you can go without worry." An An no longer needs his mother after he has Tang. What a cheap, plastic mother-son relationship.

Zhong Miao felt a little uncomfortable with what she heard, but she wouldn't argue with a child.

She returned to her new home and simply packed a few clothes and took some snacks, as she couldn't carry more than that.

She did not go back to her parents' home directly, but went to find Li Hongmei.

When Li Guodong opened the door, he saw Zhong Miao standing at the door with a bag in her hand. "Sister-in-law, why are you here in this heavy snow?"

"I'm looking for Li Hongmei, and I'm looking for you too."

"Hongmei is in the room, sister-in-law, come in."

Li Guodong led Zhong Miao to his sister's room. His family didn't have enough space to live there before. It was only after the house was rebuilt three years ago that Li Hongmei got her own room.

"Zhong Miao? Why are you here?"

Li Hongmei didn't expect Zhong Miao to come to her. The relationship between the two was not good before. Although they had a happy chat last time, Zhong Miao had never taken the initiative to look for her.

"My mother-in-law fainted, and Pei Ze took her to see a doctor. I don't know where the doctor is, so I'd like to trouble you, Li Guodong, to go and see her."

Li Guodong turned around and was about to run out when Zhong Miao stopped him. "There's one more thing. Pei Ze thinks I pushed my mother-in-law down, and he's angry. It's not convenient for me to go with you. I'm going back to my parents' home today. Please tell me what's going on with my mother-in-law."

"Even if he is angry, you can't go back to your parents' home." Li Hongmei was a little anxious.

Li Hongmei believed that Zhong Miao would not do such a thing. Although Zhong Miao was annoying in the past, he was not a vicious person.

Li Guodong's face immediately fell when he heard this. As for Pei Ze and Zhong Miao, he certainly believed in Pei Ze's judgment.

He felt sorry for Pei Ze. This daughter-in-law even dared to push her mother-in-law. Sending her back home was the least of his worries. He didn't think it was a big deal even if Pei Ze had hit her.

But after all, she was someone else's daughter-in-law, so he couldn't say anything.

"Then I'll go over and take a look."

"Well, go ahead. Thank you for your help." Zhong Miao understood everything as soon as she saw Li Guodong's expression.

"Zhong Miao, tell me what happened?" As soon as Li Guodong left the house, Li Hongmei pulled Zhong Miao to sit down.

"Pei Ze asked me to go home, saying that he didn't want to see me and would divorce me in a few days." Zhong Miao put down the bag of clothes, her tone flat as if she was talking about someone else's family.

"What? Divorce? Why don't you explain to him? How could you possibly push your aunt away?"

"How could there be time to explain? My mother-in-law fainted without any warning, and I don't know what happened. He must have been anxious to take my mother-in-law to see a doctor. I was also worried about my mother-in-law, so how could I stop him from explaining?"

"Aren't you afraid that you will really get divorced? By then, I guarantee you won't be able to hold your head up in the village." Li Hongmei calmed down a little seeing Zhong Miao's calm look.

"There's nothing to be afraid of. If you can live together, live together. If you can't live together, then divorce. Live your own life. Let others say whatever they want. What does it have to do with me?"

These words shocked Li Hongmei. She looked at Zhong Miao carefully and found that she had really changed. "Ah."

"Don't sigh, I need your help with something."

"Just tell me what you want to say."

Although the relationship between the two is not good, Li Hongmei is not a stingy person, so she will naturally help if she can.

"Well, my dad went to the city recently, and there's no one at home now. I'd like you to go back with me and teach me how to make a fire, otherwise I'm afraid I'll freeze to death at home."

Zhong Miao felt a little embarrassed, and there was no way to hide this embarrassment.

Li Hongmei had thought it was a small matter, but after just a moment, she was already feeling anxious. "That's it? You're so old and you still can't light a fire?"

"Well, no."

"You are really good, come on, I will go back with you."

Pei Ze trotted all the way with his old mother to the village clinic and was busy for nearly an hour.

When Li Guodong arrived, Zhang Weilan had just woken up and was staring at her son, "What's wrong with me? Why am I in the clinic?"

"Mom, did you miss lunch? You fainted and the doctor said you have low blood sugar."

Pei Ze was helpless. He was frightened by his old mother, but luckily nothing serious happened.

"Brother Ze."

Li Guodong heard Pei Ze's words as soon as he arrived, and he understood that his aunt was not recommended by Zhong Miao.

He couldn't help but worry for Pei Ze. After all, Zhong Miao had already returned to her parents' home, and such a big misunderstanding had happened just a few days after their marriage.

"Why are you here?" Pei Ze glanced at Li Guodong.

"My sister-in-law doesn't know the way and couldn't find the clinic, so she asked me to come over and take a look." Li Guodong was smart enough not to mention Zhong Miao's return to her parents' home.

"Um."

"I'm so busy today, how can I have time to eat? Sigh, old people are useless. I can even faint. If there is nothing wrong, let's go home."

Zhang Weilan didn't want to lie on the cold chair in the clinic. She didn't know she had hypoglycemia before, although she would faint occasionally.

She just thought it was because she was hungry and didn't pay much attention to it.

"Wait until this bottle of nutrient solution is finished."

Pei Ze didn't know how to tell his mother about Zhong Miao. He was too impatient and said harsh words, but he was not wrong. In that situation, he would not believe anything Zhong Miao said, after all, he saw it with his own eyes.

"Mom, I want to tell you something, don't be angry."

"What have you done again?" Zhang Weilan glared at him, chewing the candy given by the doctor.

"I just got home and saw you fainted. Zhong Miao just reached out and I thought she pushed you. I was angry at the time and her words were quite harsh."

Pei Ze also guessed that Zhong Miao probably wanted to support her mother, and this was just a misunderstanding.

Zhang Weilan immediately became serious when she heard this.

"What did you say? My daughter-in-law was afraid I would fall and wanted to help me. I saw it all, and then everything went black and I didn't know anything."

"I said I wanted to divorce her and sent her back to her parents' home. Mom, don't be angry. I misunderstood her. I'll apologize to her when I get back."

Zhang Weilan almost jumped up and down. "How could you do this, you idiot? Life is not easy for a married couple, how can you still talk about divorce? Go home and take a look, go now, I don't need you here."

Seeing that he could no longer hide it, Li Guodong spoke directly: "Aunt, my sister-in-law came to my house with a bag. She said she was going back to her parents' home today. She was worried about you and asked me to go back and give her a message."

Pei Ze was also stunned when he heard this. He didn't expect Zhong Miao to be so obedient. She went home when she was told to. It wasn't her who pushed the person away. Solving the case would only take half an hour. Was it really that serious?

Thinking of Zhong Miao's cold look, I'm afraid she would be happy to get a divorce, let alone go back to her parents' home.

Zhang Weilan saw a mess as soon as she opened her eyes. She took a deep breath. There was no point getting angry now. "Second brother, go to your wife's house, apologize sincerely, and comfort her."

"Well, I'll carry you back later. Don't worry, I'll go as soon as I get home. Don't you pay attention? Do you know how scary you are?"

Seeing that the bottle of nutrient solution was almost finished, Pei Ze had to carry his old mother back home before going to find Zhong Miao.

Zhang Weilan sighed. There was no point in being anxious. After all, she couldn't stay in the clinic forever.

She recalled the busyness before she fainted and couldn't help but say a few words to her son.

When it snows in the countryside, there is a lot more work to do. Heavy snow blocks the door, and it is not a problem that can be solved by just sweeping the snow.

In the morning, after the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law finished cleaning up, they started by dealing with the icicles on the eaves. Those things were sharp like knives and hung on the eaves. If they fell and pricked someone, it would be very dangerous.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law used shovels to break up the icicles, and then went to clean the chicken coop. The temperature had dropped some time ago, and in order to keep the chickens warm, she covered the chicken coop with a thick layer of plastic sheeting. It snowed all night, and the chicken coop was almost collapsed by the snow.

Zhong Miao helped her mother-in-law clear the snow from the chicken coop. Although she didn't know how to do the work, she was trying to learn.

It had just snowed and the weather had gotten even colder, so the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law added a thicker layer of plastic sheeting to the chicken coop and were busy as hell.

The house was dilapidated, and she was afraid that the roof would collapse under the weight of the snow, so she had to climb a ladder to sweep the roof.

No matter what Zhong Miao said, she refused to climb the ladder, and she still went to sweep the roof with difficulty.

After finishing all this, the snow in the yard had not been swept yet, An An didn't even complain of being hungry during her nap, and neither the mother-in-law nor the daughter-in-law thought about having lunch.

When Pei Ze came back, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were sweeping the snow as they thought about clearing a path in the yard first.

Physical labor plus not eating will lead to low blood sugar, right?

As Zhang Weilan spoke, she sighed. What was going on? It was such a coincidence that she fainted.

As the sky gradually darkened, Pei Ze carried his old mother on his back and walked step by step on the snow, with Li Guodong following beside him. The three of them chatted as usual, and Zhang Weilan was still the kind elder as always, as if nothing had happened.

When I got home, Zhong Miao was not there as expected, and only An An was playing by himself.

"Grandma, where have you been? Dad is back, but where's Mom? Why hasn't she come back yet?" An An was still asleep in her nap and didn't know that her grandma had fainted.

"Your grandma is not feeling well. Please stay with her. I will go and pick up your mom later."

Pei Ze heated up the leftover rice and quickly fed it to his old mother.

Seeing that nothing was wrong, Li Guodong left to report to Zhong Miao that he was safe.

Zhang Weilan was eating, "Come over and sit for a while."

Pei Ze knew that his old mother had something to say, so he also got on the kang and sat cross-legged beside the kang table.

"Second brother, what do you think about what happened today?"

"I misunderstood her. My bad."

Zhang Weilan sighed, "Besides this, what else is wrong?"
