Lin Shan has a formal job and cannot go to Guangzhou with them.
He came to the train station to see them off and teased his two grandchildren for a while: "Hurry up, Lele, when you go to Guangzhou, grandpa won't be able to visit you as often. You have to listen to your parents and grandparents, okay? Grandpa will visit you when he has time..."
Kuai Le Le was originally held by Xie Qingxiao and Lin Xiangyi, but it was the first time for the two little brothers to see so many people, and they struggled to get rid of the hold and wanted to walk by themselves.
Annoyed by their noise, Xie Qingxiao took two ropes and tied their hands, letting them walk however they wanted.
Kuai Le and Le didn’t understand the meaning of separation yet. They were very excited to see grandpa at first, but when grandpa kept nagging them, they lost interest and just focused on playing.
Lin Shan rubbed their heads lovingly and looked at Lin Xiangyi with reluctance in his eyes: "Xiangyi, take good care of yourself when you get to Yangcheng. Remember to come back to see daddy when you have time..."
"Got it." Lin Xiangyi nodded. Thinking that they would rarely see each other in the future, her attitude softened a lot. She said, "Take good care of yourself at home. Call me if you have anything."
"Oh, okay." Lin Shan stammered, wanting to say something but not saying it. He looked at Xie Qingxiao and patted his shoulder: "Qingxiao, Xiangyi and the child are in your care. You have to take good care of them."
"Don't worry, Dad!" Xie Qingxiao nodded.
Seeing this, Xie's mother was also moved. They all went to Yangcheng, and the in-laws were alone at home, how boring it was. Knowing that he was worried about Lin Xiangyi, she said: "In-laws, don't worry, we will take good care of Xiangyi and the children."
"Mother-in-law, thank you for your help." Lin Shan said with a smile.
"When you retire, come to Guangzhou too," Xie's mother said.
"Okay!" Lin Shan immediately perked up and glanced at Lin Xiangyi: "Is it settled then? I'll come to you when I retire. If you don't have a house for me to live in, I'll rent one from you. Anyway, I'll have my pension by then... ahem, Xiangyi, don't you agree?"
Lin Xiangyi was amused. He really didn't hide his thoughts at all. "It's up to you. You said you have a pension anyway." Lin Xiangyi said. What's more, Lin Shan is just in his early 50s and is still far from retirement.
"Okay, okay!" Lin Shan, in contrast to his previous listless look, hope rekindled in his eyes.
After saying goodbye to Lin Shan, it was time for them to check their tickets and board the train.
We bought hard sleeper berths on the train and were all in the same carriage. The group of people marched towards their seats in a mighty manner, attracting a lot of attention.
There were six beds in a compartment. Xie Qingxiao and Lin Xiangyi were in one compartment with Kuai Le Le, Xie's mother and Xiao Ni, while Xie's father was assigned to the next compartment.
"Le Le wants to sleep high up!" Le Le pointed to the top and said, "Sleep with brother!"
"Oh, it's too high up there and not safe. How about you just sleep happily at the bottom?" Xie's mother said hurriedly when she heard it.
"No, no!"
"Then let you sleep in the middle!" Xie Qingxiao said without question, and directly carried the two brothers to the middle bunk, threatening: "If you make trouble again, I will throw you out!"
"Oh oh oh oh!" Although the two brothers were noisy, they were still quite sensible. They knew that their father would not spoil them as much as their grandparents, so they happily called their sister to come up and play together.
Seeing their heartless appearance, Xie's mother smiled helplessly: "Stinky boy!"
"Mom, then you sleep on the lower bunk, you and Qingxiao, and I'll go to the top bunk with Xiaoni." Lin Xiangyi said.
Xie's mother was old, and it was not convenient for her to sleep on the top bed. Xie Qingxiao was tall and strong, so it was not only inconvenient for him to sleep on the top bed, but Lin Xiangyi was also worried that he would collapse the bed and cause trouble.
"Well, why don't I sleep on the top?" said Xie's mother.
"It's decided, Mom. Don't argue anymore." Lin Xiangyi said, and climbed up to the middle bunk.
"Mom, please sit down for a while." Xie Qingxiao said, "I'll go next door to see the others."
Mother Xie sat down, looked at the three children who were having fun, and smiled. She had lived for half her life, thinking that she would never leave Longjing Village, and never thought that one day she would leave and take a train to the distant Guangzhou.
This feeling...is not too sad about leaving home, on the contrary, it is full of expectations for future life.
"Sister, where are you going with your family?" An old lady from next door strolled into their small cubicle and asked curiously when she saw Xie's mother, who was about her age.
"Hey, my son and daughter-in-law do business in Yangcheng, and we're going over there to help them take care of their children!" Xie's mother said with a smile.
The man said, "What do you mean you're going there to help take care of their children? They're bringing you there to enjoy life, right? Look at the smile on your face, you're almost overflowing with happiness! Your son and daughter-in-law must be very good to you, right?"
Mother Xie was stunned for a moment, then smiled even more: "Yes! We are just following them to enjoy the good life!"
…
Because the distance was not far, they arrived at Yangcheng Railway Station at noon the next day.
The manager Xie Qingxiao and Zhang Pengfei had previously hired was named Zhou Yang.
Zhou Yang found a car to pick them up. The cars were divided into two groups. One group took the backbones who followed Xie Qingxiao and others to Yangcheng to the staff dormitory they had arranged; the other group took Xie Qingxiao, Lin Xiangyi and their family and Aunt Xie's family to the yard bought by Xie Qingxiao.
The yard purchased by Xie Qingxiao is located in a quiet alley in Yangcheng. Although it is smaller than the yard at home, it looks much more exquisite.
When I pushed open the wooden door, the first thing that came into view was a narrow bluestone road. On both sides of the road were several longan trees with thick trunks and lush branches and leaves. On the left side of the yard was a small vegetable plot with loose soil but nothing planted. Next to the vegetable plot was a small well with a wooden bucket and a watering can beside it. On the right side of the yard was a flower bed with some flowers and plants planted in it.
