Chapter 121 From Beginning to Abandoning

"Woof woof woof..."

The little black dog in the pen heard the noise and started barking wildly.

"Daguang?" Huo Jianguo looked at Xie Daguang's disheveled appearance, noting that he was only wearing one shoe and holding the other in his hand. "You..."

Startled by the barking dogs, Xie Daguang turned tail and ran.

Song Yinhua came out carrying a carrying pole and a bucket, and then heard the barking of a small black dog coming from the direction of the pen.

"Caixing!" she called out, but Caixing didn't come out.

The madwoman ran to the edge of the pen and pointed inside, babbling incoherently.

Inside the pen, the little black dog barked at the madwoman, who covered her ears in fear.

Song Yinhua walked over at this moment, and the little black dog wagged its tail happily.

Song Caixing got dressed and hurriedly came out of the room.

"Big sister, you just got married yesterday, why are you back today?"

"I came to check if the wheat seeds in the field have sprouted, and then I'll water and fertilize the fruit." Song Yinhua jumped into the pen, picked up the little black dog, and asked, "Caixing, why did you put Xiao Hei here?"

"I was afraid the puppy would run away, so I put it here," Song Caixing said guiltily.

“Xiao Hei is a good guard dog. If you leave it here, how will it protect you if a thief breaks in?” Song Yinhua looked at the little black dog in her arms, who kept licking her hand, and felt very reluctant to part with it.

"Big sister, who is she?" Song Caixing asked.

“My mother-in-law,” Song Yinhua said.

Song Caixing looked at the madwoman and said, "She looks so young, unlike Brother Huo... Sister's husband's mother."

On the other side, Huo Jianguo punched Xie Daguang.

"You're getting married, does she know?"

“I don’t dare tell her that Cai Xing is now madly in love with me, I’m afraid she might do something rash.”

"Then why are you still looking for her?" Huo Jianguo asked coldly. "Since you didn't intend to marry her, why don't you let her go? You're toying with her feelings, you're starting something and then abandoning it, and you'll ruin her life."

"I didn't abandon her after starting a relationship. It's just that my mom doesn't approve of me marrying Cai Xing, and there's nothing I can do about it." Xie Daguang looked aggrieved. "I'm different from you. Your mom is crazy and doesn't care about you, but I'm not. I have to listen to my mom!"

Huo Jianguo's deep black eyes flashed with a sharp, cold light, making Xie Daguang's hair stand on end.

"Cousin, don't look at me like that. I didn't want to do this either."

"How do you plan to resolve this?"

"I...I'll handle it." Xie Daguang was practically begging Huo Jianguo to keep it a secret. He looked behind Huo Jianguo and suddenly shouted, "Sister Caixing is here!"

When Huo Jianguo turned to look at the courtyard, Xie Daguang grabbed his clothes and ran away.

Song Caixing brought over a bowl of leftover porridge from the previous night, which the little black dog wolfed down.

Song Yinhua picked up two empty buckets and prepared to get to work, but the little black dog immediately stopped eating and chased after her, wagging its tail.

Song Yinhua had no choice but to stop and wait for the little black dog to finish eating.

When Huo Jianguo came in, Song Caixing called out, "Brother-in-law."

A hint of panic flashed across her face; she wondered if Xie Daguang had discovered her affair.

Huo Jianguo nodded politely to Song Caixing without saying anything more.

The little black dog had finished eating, and Song Yinhua picked up the water buckets to get to work.

"I'll do it!" Huo Jianguo took the carrying pole from her shoulder, picked up the two empty buckets, and walked out of the yard.

When Song Caixing came to the outside of the yard, she saw her older sister and Xie Daguang's cousin working together and chatting from time to time.

The wind ruffled Song Yinhua's hair, and the cold-faced, rough man reached out to help her tidy it to the side. The two smiled at each other.

It looks very cozy.

Song Caixing felt a pang of envy, her heart filled with anticipation. She imagined that when she married Xie Daguang, it would be the same.

The madwoman ran back and forth in the fields and orchards, sometimes chasing the little black dog, sometimes being chased by the little black dog.

The two, who had already become familiar with each other, were having a great time.

At noon, Song Yinhua and Huo Jianguo stayed in the new house for lunch. The two were busy until the sun was about to set before packing up their farm tools and taking the mentally ill mother home.

As soon as I arrived at the gate of my own yard, I saw that the gate was open.

Huo Jianguo shielded Song Yinhua and the madwoman behind him and went inside first.

A young woman was busy in the kitchen, and the smell of porridge wafted from it.

"Cousin Jianguo, you're back!"

The young woman wore an old apron around her waist, looking every bit like a housewife.

"Who is she...?" Song Yinhua asked in confusion.

"I'm Luo Xiangling, my cousin Jianguo's girlfriend." The young woman's quick answer was full of provocation. "My cousin Jianguo and I almost got married."

Song Yinhua also introduced herself politely, "I am Huo Jianguo's wife, Song Yinhua."

That one word, "wife," is worth more than a thousand provocations.

Luo Xiangling retorted, "My cousin Jianguo and I grew up together, our relationship..."

"I have no feelings for you," Huo Jianguo coldly interrupted. "Who gave you permission to break into my house?"

"I'm here to help you tidy up the house and make you dinner," Luo Xiangling said. "Where did you go today? Why weren't you home all day?"

"This is none of your business!" Huo Jianguo said coldly. "Get out."

"Dinner will be ready soon, Cousin Jianguo. You go and rest first, I'll wait until dinner is ready..."

"Get out!" Huo Jianguo shouted in a low, cold voice, his deep eyes devoid of any affection.

Being reprimanded like that to her face, Luo Xiangling was humiliated and ran away crying.

"She is my grandmother's grandniece. My grandmother wanted me to marry her, but I didn't agree."

Huo Jianguo took the initiative to tell Song Yinhua about Luo Xiangling's situation.

"Why don't you agree?" Song Yinhua asked, lifting the pot lid to take a look. "The porridge is cooked well, and she seems to be a virtuous woman."

"I don't like it," Huo Jianguo said coldly, his narrow eyes looking at his mother.

The madwoman stood behind Song Yinhua, staring at the porridge in the pot.

"Are you hungry?" Song Yinhua asked.

The madwoman kept nodding.

"Go sit at the table, I'll serve you some now."

Song Yinhua ladled out the porridge from the pot to cool, then took out a bottle of pickled vegetables she had brought from her parents' home, poured some into Xiao Wan's bowl, and placed it on the table.

The crazy woman couldn't hold chopsticks; she held them in her hand like a wooden stick.

Song Yinhua brought over a spoon.

The madwoman took a spoon, scooped up a spoonful of porridge, and put it in her mouth.

"Wait, it's hot..."

Song Yinhua was a step too slow. The madwoman spat out the porridge in her mouth and kept fanning herself around her mouth.

The table was covered in rice grains.

"Mom, sit here and eat." Song Yinhua took two bowls, poured the porridge back and forth between them, and only placed it in front of her mad mother when the porridge was no longer so hot. "You can eat now."

The madwoman's food was scattered everywhere in front of her.

Song Yinhua put some pickled vegetables in her bowl. The madwoman instinctively shrank her neck and raised her hands to protect her face, repeatedly saying, "I was wrong... I... I'll be obedient..."

Song Yinhua could tell that the madwoman had been bullied a lot in the past.

"Eat."

The madwoman stared at Song Yinhua with wide, curious eyes, seemingly surprised and puzzled, but she didn't hit her.

The crazy mother, who hadn't been beaten, happily picked up her spoon and started eating.

Huo Jianguo watched all this in silence. Seeing his mentally unstable mother smiling happily, he said to Song Yinhua, "Thank you."

“We are a couple now, so let’s not talk about Xie Tai.”

It got dark.
