Spirit Spring Space.
Song Yinhua checked the rice paddies and found that there wasn't a single weed on the rice plants.
Moreover, it is irrigated by natural spring water and is full of vitality.
The rice ears were so heavy they almost bent the stalks. They were growing better and faster than rice paddies in reality, and it was clear that a bumper harvest was just around the corner.
Song Yinhua didn't eat dinner, so she picked a fruit and sat under the tree to fill her stomach.
From childhood to adulthood, her mother, Qiao Guilan, always sided with outsiders.
Even though her own family was struggling to make ends meet, she still lent all her rice to others.
The rice paddies at home were full of weeds and needed weeding and fertilizing. She went to work for other people's families, and when she came home she would say she was exhausted. No one cared about her.
Whenever there's something good to eat at home, she always thinks of others first, even when her own children are starving.
Because her biological mother had this problem, she was once beaten by her father.
On one occasion, the biological mother took the money meant for her younger brother's surgery back to her parents' home to give to her seventh aunt to start a business. As a result, the seventh aunt spent all the money, which angered the father so much that he beat the biological mother severely.
"Coo coo..."
"Coo coo...coo coo..."
There were birds chirping overhead.
Song Yinhua subconsciously looked up and saw a large, fat pigeon perched on a branch, with a bird's nest on a nearby fork.
Sigh! Isn't this the wild pigeon I rescued in the back hill this afternoon?
You've gotten so fat!
It looks delicious.
Song Yinhua climbed the tree and, ignoring the wild pigeons' fluttering, took away the two bird eggs from the nest.
"Without a male pigeon, your eggs won't hatch. I'll buy a male pigeon and put it in later."
The plump wild pigeon watched helplessly as Song Yinhua snatched its eggs.
Song Yinhua got down from the ground with ease. When she was a child, she often climbed trees with her younger brother to raid bird nests. Later, her brother fell from the tree and broke his leg. He spent a lot of money on surgery and slowly recovered.
From then on, their parents forbade them from climbing trees.
-
Early in the morning, Song Caixing got up dejectedly, and Song Yinhua gave her two freshly boiled pigeon eggs.
"An egg?" Song Caixing's eyes lit up immediately. "It's so small, it doesn't look like an egg."
"These are wild pigeon eggs I found in the trees on the back hill yesterday. Eat them quickly, before Mom sees them."
Song Caixing immediately peeled the pigeon egg and put it in her mouth. Song Yinhua handed her a glass of water. "In a little while, we'll dig some earthworms to go fishing for crayfish in the river. I'll also make a spicy crayfish dish for lunch today."
Song Caixing nodded as she drank her water.
After the two sisters finished breakfast, they prepared to go to the vegetable garden behind the house to dig for earthworms. Song Caixing, with her sharp eyes, spotted a net bag of lobsters by the gate of the yard, along with two fish.
"Big sister, look!"
Song Yinhua peeked out of the courtyard; there was no one around.
"Who put these shrimp and fish here?" Song Yinhua asked, puzzled. "Could it be that my aunt and sixth cousin sent them...? Impossible!"
Song Caixing echoed, "Impossible."
The two sisters were talking at the gate when they heard the roar of a motorcycle. Looking up, they saw Song Hanwen riding his motorcycle with his wife and daughter passing by, his eyes filled with hostility.
His family was the only one in the entire village to have bought a motorcycle, and even in the whole town, there weren't many families who could afford one.
Looking at their own family, they rely on just a few acres of meager land to make a living.
My mother was the type to give away all the good things she had, and she was always busy with chores at home, so she would always help others. My father farmed on weekdays, and during the off-season, he would do odd jobs or manual labor for people building houses, but he didn't earn much money.
The little money I manage to earn isn't even enough for my own mother to use to subsidize her family and outsiders.
Therefore, the family was dirt poor.
My father and my eldest uncle were brothers and lived in the same village.
My uncle's family is so rich they've even bought a motorcycle.
My father was so poor that he sometimes had to borrow rice to eat.
Four children, three of whom dropped out of school.
During the most difficult time for the family, my father went to my uncle's house twice to borrow rice, but he didn't get a single grain. He never went there again. However, my mother, Qiao Guilan, would bring food to his house every few days and help him with chores.
Even so, the relationship between the two families remained cold.
Song Yinhua was the eldest of the four siblings and the first to understand things.
She understood the disdain and malice in her uncle's family's eyes when she was very young.
-
The Song sisters searched in the fields for a long time before finally finding Qiao Guilan, who was sweating profusely, in their uncle's field.
"Mom, what are you doing in their fields?" Song Yinhua asked angrily. "Do you think they'll respect you just because you work for them?"
"What do you know? If you hadn't made such a scene at your uncle's house last night, Mom wouldn't have to work so hard!" Qiao Guilan complained, and even wanted Song Yinhua to go to the fields to work with her, but Song Yinhua refused.
"How can you be so insensible? I must have owed you something in my past life."
Qiao Guilan complained as she worked.
"Mom, who put the lobsters in the yard?"
"What lobster? I don't know what you're talking about!" Qiao Guilan continued to grumble as she worked, complaining that her daughter didn't care about her, her own mother.
-
At the market, Song Yinhua sold the two grass carp, and with the money she had saved up, bought a male pigeon, as well as some farm tools such as shovels and buckets.
When no one was around, they sent them all into the space.
A large lobster crawled up into the paddy field. She had casually caught some of the smallest lobsters from her net and thrown them into the paddy field that morning. She never expected them to grow so big in such a short time.
Song Yinhua discovered that the water here not only nourishes the land, but also nourishes people and animals.
"Isn't that Song family's eldest daughter?" Han Zhiyuan's mother, Wang Naiyun, came out of the pharmacy carrying a bunch of Chinese medicine and saw Song Yinhua carrying a basket on her back and selecting fish fry.
She walked over with a smile from afar, patted Song Yinhua on the back warmly, completely forgetting how harsh her words had been on the day she came to propose marriage.
"That back is really sturdy, and that's a tall guy!" Wang Naiyun's face lit up with joy. "He's at the market!"
Song Yinhua stepped aside, politely greeted them, and left.
Wang Naiyun followed, "Yinhua, what are your thoughts on your marriage to my son? My son is a technician at the machine tool factory in town, and he earns a high salary every month. You'll have a wonderful life if you marry into our family. We won't look down on you..."
Song Yinhua stopped. "Aunt Han, I made it very clear that day that I have no interest in your son and I don't want to enjoy a life of luxury at your house."
"Why are you so blunt, kid? I'm doing this for your own good." Wang Naiyun said, sounding like she was speaking from experience, but her eyes darted around, revealing a shrewd look. "You're already twenty-five this year, and you're a jinx. Nobody would dare to take you in. Only my son is deeply in love with you and doesn't mind that you're cursed and will bring death to people."
Song Yinhua ignored her and turned to leave.
"Yinhua, let your aunt finish speaking." Wang Naiyun followed after her. "Your aunt feels a special connection with you. Even if you don't marry Zhiyuan, your aunt would still like to adopt you as her goddaughter... Don't go..."
