Chapter 123 Divorce

The old lady and Luo Xiangling exchanged a glance. Why was there such a commotion inside?

The door to the main room was opened, and Song Yinhua, her forehead flushed and stained with blood, walked out.

"Why did you come out? Where's Tianba?" The old lady sensed something was wrong and rushed in after hearing her grandson's screams from inside the house.

Luo Tianba's face was covered in blood.

He was hit several times with a washbasin, and his nose started bleeding.

The most fatal blow came when Song Yinhua headbutted his face, knocking out two of his front teeth. He covered his face and howled in pain.

The village chief rushed into the yard with the madwoman, asking, "What's wrong? What happened?"

The elderly woman, over seventy years old, rushed forward and tried to grab Song Yinhua's hair, cursing fiercely, "You dare to bully my grandson, I'll never forgive you!"

Song Yinhua grabbed the old lady's wrist, and the village chief quickly came over to persuade her not to hit her, as she was still an elder.

Seeing that Song Yinhua didn't dare to lay a hand on an elder like herself, the old lady reached out with her other hand to slap Song Yinhua, but Song Yinhua forcefully shook her off.

The old lady was frail and had difficulty walking. When she was thrown like that, people nearby heard a cracking sound from her bones and thought she was injured.

To everyone's surprise, the old lady pounced on Song Yinhua the next second.

"How dare you shove me?" The old lady grabbed Song Yinhua tightly. "Today I'm going to teach you what it means to respect the elderly and care for the young!"

“Jianguo’s wife, the old lady is over seventy years old this year. She can’t be laid a hand on you. If something happens to her, you and Jianguo will be in big trouble,” the village chief advised from the side.

Song Yinhua didn't want to fight either, "You should all leave."

"You bullied Xiangling, injured my grandson, and now you're bullying this old woman? You think we can leave? No way!" Taking advantage of her age, the old woman grabbed Song Yinhua's clothes from the shoulder and wouldn't let go. "If you don't give me an explanation today, I'm not leaving your house!"

The old lady glanced at the house.

Despite her objections, her grandson Huo Jianguo married another woman.

They even separated from each other.

He applied to the village for land and built these three new tile-roofed houses. I heard they even got electricity, and they took his mentally ill mother away with them.

She brought his father home and raised him, and she also supported him and his mentally ill mother. His things should rightfully belong to her.

Tianba and Yaozu have both married and had children, and their house is no longer big enough. So, we built two more rooms next door for the two brothers to live in.

The old lady already had a plan in mind, and deliberately shoved Song Yinhua, saying, "Tell me quickly how you're going to compensate me?"

"You came to my house to cause trouble, and you let your grandson bully me. I haven't even asked you for an explanation, and you're already blaming me?" Song Yinhua looked at the old lady who was tightly gripping her clothes. "Let go!"

The old lady already had a fierce look, and now when she looked at Song Yinhua, her eyes were even fiercer.

Not only did she not let go, she also tried to slap Song Yinhua.

The village chief tried to stop her, speaking and persuading her, and asked the old woman what kind of compensation she wanted.

“Jianguo and his wife just got married and don’t have much money. Why don’t you have Jianguo’s wife apologize to you and let’s just let it go? We elders don’t hold grudges against the younger generation.”

"Village chief, look what she did to Tianba!" The old lady looked at her grandson, whose face was covered in blood, standing at the door. "She must give us an explanation today."

"Grandma, what kind of explanation do you want?"

"She injured Tianba, so this house has to be paid to Tianba in compensation."

Luo Xiangling was unhappy.

If she marries Huo Jianguo, she'll still have to live in this house.

"She also has to divorce Jianguo and is never allowed to set foot in the Huo family again!"

Song Yinhua finally understood: they came to make trouble because of the house and to force her to divorce so that Huo Jianguo and Luo Xiangling could be together.

"Is this your Huo family's house?" Song Yinhua retorted. "This house is my husband's wedding house, built on land he applied for with the village. What does it have to do with your family?"

"I am Jian Guo's grandmother. How dare you talk to me like that? Get out of here right now! This is the Huo family's house. Get out!" The old lady grabbed Song Yinhua's clothes and pushed her out.

Song Yinhua was of a large build and could not be moved an inch.

The old lady pushed so hard that she accidentally twisted her waist.

"Ouch, my back!"

Luo Xiangling quickly helped the old lady up, "Grandma, are you alright? Song Yinhua, how could you hurt my grandma? My grandma is over seventy years old, how could you be so heartless?"

Song Yinhua was baffled. "Did you see me touch her?"

"You're the one who injured my aunt..."

Song Yinhua slapped Luo Xiangling, sending her staggering back two steps. "That's what you call a slap!"

"You dare hit my back... my back..." The old lady wanted to teach Song Yinhua a lesson, but her back was twisted and she kept groaning in pain.

The village chief quickly advised, "Xiangling, take your great-aunt back quickly and ask the doctor at the clinic to take a look at her."

Without the support of the old lady and Luo Tianba, Luo Xiangling didn't dare to do anything and could only help her great-aunt, who had twisted her back, back home first.

Having suffered a loss at Song Yinhua's hands, Luo Tianba glared at her fiercely, saying, "You just wait and see!"

After they all left, the village chief asked, "Did you really hit Tianba?"

"I acted in self-defense."

The village chief sighed, “Tianba and his father Huo Laowu are the old lady’s most beloved son and grandson. They’ve been spoiled rotten by her. Huo Laowu was a troublemaker when he was young, and his son Tianba is a local bully. You’ve offended them, so you’d better watch out.”

The village chief talked about the old lady's fifth son.

The fortune teller said that Huo Laowu would have a bright future, which is why he was the old lady's favorite.

Therefore, the old lady changed her son's surname to Luo, which she took after her.

The old lady had a fortune teller calculate the fortunes of all her children, and it was found that the fifth and seventh children had the best fates.

Therefore, the old lady loved her two children the most.

Because the seventh daughter, Huo Jinfeng, was a girl, the old lady thought that she would belong to another family after marriage, so she didn't change her surname.

"Jin Feng has the exact same temperament and personality as the old lady. A teenage girl who has fallen for a married man, just like the old lady when she was young. And Lao Wu is even worse! Sigh!"

The village chief sighed.

Song Yinhua thanked the old village chief and brewed a cup of tea, placing it in front of him.

"I came to see you today because I had something to discuss with you. I ran into a panicked, madwoman when I was almost here." The village chief picked up his teacup, blew on it, and took a small sip.

"This tea is quite good!"

The aroma of the tea lingers in the mouth for a long time.

"I made this tea from wildflowers I picked in the back hill. I still have some at home. I'll get you some to take home and drink," Song Yinhua said as she went to get the tea.

"No need, it's no trouble at all..." the village chief said politely, and Song Yinhua had already brought over the tea leaves.

“I have quite a lot of tea here. Take some back and drink it first. There are many wildflowers on the back mountain for making tea. You can go to the back mountain to pick them next year.” Song Yinhua handed the tea to the village chief.

"Then I won't stand on ceremony." The village chief accepted the tea leaves and explained the purpose of his visit.

“The special recruitment notice from above has come down. Of the list submitted by the village, only Jianguo from your family passed the review. I talked to Jianguo about this when I came to your house last time, but he refused to go and even chased me away.” The village chief said to Song Yinhua, “You should persuade him. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If he can make it in the army, no one will dare to bully his mother anymore, and you will benefit from it too.”
