Chapter 10 Returning Home Successfully

Chang Shuying felt even more depressed after hearing Zhou Hongyu's words of comfort. "Mom, are you very disappointed in me?"

If she could be as eloquent as her third brother and younger sister and handle the matter well, her mother would be able to smile instead of comforting herself.

Chang Shuying maintained a smile on her face, but her mood had already plummeted to rock bottom.

Zhou Hongyu carried the noodles with soybean paste out of the kitchen, unaware of her depressed mood.

The matter of calling my mother-in-law back from my husband's older sister Chang Lanhua's house was not just about rivalry; it involved a matter of life and death.

My mother-in-law didn't enjoy her new home; she was even busier than when she was at home. She had to do everything: laundry, cooking, cleaning, and picking up and dropping off the children.

As a daughter, Chang Lanhua wished her mother would stay and work as a laborer for the rest of her life.

Chang Lan Hua was very cunning. She made it seem like Zhou Hongyu was just throwing a tantrum because the two were competing with each other. If Granny Chang went back, it would be seen as her favoring Zhou Hongyu!

Granny Chang was a kind-hearted person who didn't want to offend anyone and wholeheartedly wanted the two to reconcile.

Chang Lanhua then used her words to lure Granny Chang into staying and working as a laborer.

If things had ended there, that would have been the end of it.

It's understandable for a mother to help her daughter, but Chang Lanhua was heartless. Granny Chang was busy doing all sorts of things but got nothing in return and even got herself into trouble, ultimately losing her life!

Such a person, who was kind to everyone his whole life, shouldn't have ended up like this.

Zhou Hongyu was preoccupied with getting her mother-in-law back, so she was somewhat distracted during the meal.

After finishing her noodles with soybean paste, she had a great idea.

Feeling dejected, Chang Shuying took an empty bowl to the kitchen, with Zhou Hongyu following behind her: "Shuying, Mom, can you handle another task this time?"

"Yes!" Chang Shuying exclaimed excitedly.

"Mom, I want to go with my sister!" Chang Meiying suddenly appeared, cheering as she ran to hug Chang Shuying's leg.

Are Americans and British going too?

Zhou Hongyu thought about it and decided that it would be fine for Mei Ying to go.

When it comes to cunning, few can rival the Chang sisters. This time, she's not going to rely on cunning; she's going straight for the raw power.

Zhou Hongyu instructed: "Make sure to bring the old lady back tonight! When you get there, tell her directly that if she doesn't come back, I'll send Meiying back to her maternal grandmother's house for her to take care of when I go to work!"

"Mom!" Chang Meiying exclaimed angrily.

Wasn't I supposed to be helping Mom complete a task? How did she suddenly become the victim?

Grandma Zhou was an eccentric old lady who was not well-liked.

Of course, Grandma Zhou didn't care about the younger generation's favor. This wealthy old lady from the countryside just wanted to live out her remaining days comfortably!

"Mom, Grandma isn't coming back. I can help take care of Meiying while you go to work. Don't send her to Grandma's house!" Chang Shuying's little thoughts were forgotten, and she was only thinking about her younger sister.

"Don't worry about it, this is just an excuse. If the old lady still doesn't come back, then I'll have to go and drag her back myself!"

Chang Meiying was worried, feeling that her position in her mother's heart had become less important. Her mother would never have said such things to scare people before.

She's still a child, and her heart is very fragile!

"Sister, let's go, and come back quickly!"

"Mei Ying...slow down, wait for me!"

While eating his noodles with soybean paste, Old Man Chang asked Chang Huaying about her situation these past few days. Suddenly, he saw two people running out of the kitchen.

What are they doing?

Zhou Hongyu responded, "Meiying suddenly said she misses the old lady and is in a hurry to call her home, otherwise she won't sleep tonight!"

Oh, I miss my old wife.

Old Man Chang was also brainwashed by Chang Lanhua and thought that Zhou Hongyu was just throwing a tantrum.

If Zhou Hongyu suggested calling Granny Chang back, he would definitely stand in her way and stop her.

Chang Lanhua said that every time she had a conflict with Zhou Hongyu, she would always suffer in the end. If it was the same this time, and she lost face in her husband's family, she would cut off all contact with Zhou Hongyu from now on!

On the one hand, the elderly couple in the Chang family were worried that things might really get out of hand. On the other hand, Chang Lanhua's husband's relatives were Chang Pengfei's superiors, which was much more important than the conflict between the two sisters-in-law.

This time it's just that the granddaughter, Meiying, misses her grandma; it's nothing serious.

Lan Hua is understanding; if she knew, she would definitely let Granny Chang go home.

After the dinner table was cleared away, Chang Meiying ran into the room crying and buried her face in Old Man Chang's arms.

"Grandpa, there's a bad guy!"

Granny Chang and Chang Shuying followed them into the house. Granny Chang hurriedly said, "Meiying thought Lanhua's eldest daughter-in-law had yelled at her, and she ran back crying all the way. We couldn't catch up with her!"

"Grandma is a bad person too! She was the one who yelled at me!"

"Oh, Mei Ying, no, it's all a misunderstanding. Grandma apologizes to you on their behalf, okay? We'll go out and buy toys and snacks later!"

"No!" little Chang Meiying refused firmly.

"Look at this..." Granny Chang looked at Zhou Hongyu helplessly, worried that Zhou Hongyu would lose her temper and go to settle accounts with Chang Lanhua.

With old grievances added to new ones, this is bound to cause chaos!

"Meiying, come to Mommy!"

Chang Meiying pulled away from Old Man Chang's embrace: "Grandpa is biased, he's a bad guy too!"

Watching his beloved granddaughter, whom he had spoiled since childhood, leave with such a remark, Old Man Chang felt a pang of heartache.

What kind of mess is this?!

Chang Meiying moved to another spot and buried her face in Zhou Hongyu's arms, sobbing.

Zhou Hong touched Shuying's slightly sweaty head and asked, "Shuying, tell me what happened!"

Chang Shuying hesitated and glanced back at Granny Chang, who guiltily backed away.

Chang Shuying calmed herself down and said, "It's like this. When Meiying and I arrived at my aunt's house, they hadn't cooked yet. Grandma was busy preparing the meal in the kitchen. Meiying told Grandma what Mom had said. After hearing this, Grandma wanted to come back and ask Mom for clarification, but my aunt's family wouldn't let her leave. They told her to finish cooking first!"
