Chapter 386 Drunkenness

The atmosphere at the Tang family dinner table was strange, with Tang Aifang staring intently at Tang Xianfang.

Tang Xianfang was preoccupied with saving money to buy a house, so she simply ignored Tang Aifang's malice and ate heartily the food her mother had cooked. It was delicious!

Tang Aibao was gnawing on a chicken leg, his mouth dripping with oil, while his parents doted on their son.

Tang Aifang kicked the table leg in annoyance, making a loud noise that attracted everyone's attention.

Tang Aifang smiled maliciously at Tang Xianfang: "Xianfang, you seem to enjoy hanging out with college students lately. If you had gone to college back then, you should be working this year!"

With Tang Xianfang's abilities, there's no way she couldn't get into university; she simply couldn't go to university!

Her path to advancement was blocked by Tang's father.

In order to please the daughter of his superior, Tang's father forced Tang Xianfang to give up further education and go to a nursing school after graduating from junior high school.

Tang Xianfang, Tang Aifang, Wu Minjun, and the daughter of Tang's father attended the same junior high school. Tang Xianfang skipped two grades, and all four were in the same grade.

Tang Xianfang had the best grades, and a top-tier high school seemed like a sure thing for her.

Wu Minjun's grades were second best, and she could have gotten into a top middle school if she put in the effort, but her family had a heavy financial burden, and her father said that if she didn't get into a top middle school, she wouldn't be allowed to continue her studies.

Tang's daughter, who was in charge of the school, ranked third in her class. Her grades were fluctuating, and it was unlikely that she would get into a top-tier middle school. However, with the help of her family, she could still get into one.

Tang Aifang had the worst grades and struggled to get into middle school, so studying was not a priority for her.

Tang Xianfang was focused on her studies and kept to herself. With Tang Aifang's encouragement, she gained a reputation among her classmates for being aloof. The other three formed a small clique.

As the high school entrance exam approached, Wu Minjun, the daughter of Tang's father's boss, made rapid progress in her studies. She secretly cried several times. Rumors circulated that Tang's father's boss bribed Wu's father to force Wu Minjun to give up her chance to get into a key high school, thus eliminating one competitor.

When Tang Xianfang heard about this, even though the two didn't get along, she still sympathized with Wu Minjun's plight. Who would have thought that in the end, it would be Wu Minjun herself who couldn't continue her studies!

Tang Xianfang's eyes were frighteningly cold.

Tang's mother said worriedly, "Aifang, don't tell your sister this will upset her..."

Tang's father, with a stern expression, scolded, "Tang Aifang, if you don't want to eat, then get out!"

Tang Aifang remained defiant, continuing to speak: "Xianfang, I can't go to university, and neither can you. We're both destined for this!"

How could she possibly help Tang Xianfang rise to prominence? Tang Xianfang's status at home would inevitably increase day by day after she went to university. What could she possibly have to compare with Tang Xianfang?

She has nothing!

Therefore, it is impossible for Tang Xianfang to go to university!

Wu Minjun was filled with anxiety because of her father's words, and the two of them came up with a sinister idea.

Tang's father was a sycophant and a big shot in officialdom. Contributing Tang Xianfang's spot would maximize his own interests. Moreover, to save face for his superiors, Tang Xianfang could only publicly claim that she didn't want to continue her studies and wanted to attend a nursing school so she could start working as soon as possible.

Tang Xianfang was young and had no way to deal with this situation. In the end, she gave up her studies in despair and followed the arrangement to attend a nursing school.

Tang's father's plan for her was to finish her nursing school education, use connections to get a job as a nurse in a good hospital, then introduce her to a doctor to marry, and have her be a good wife and mother.

As Tang Xianfang grew older, she became increasingly rebellious. After graduation, she refused to obey any arrangements. In a fit of anger, her father had her assigned to a community health center, hoping to teach her to be more obedient.

In a fit of anger, Tang Xianfang got up, overturned the dining table, grabbed her bag, and ran out.

A loud shout came from behind: "Tang Xianfang!"

Tang Xianfang ran out of the family compound crying.

After dinner, Chang Pengfei went out for a stroll with nothing to do. He watched several old men fishing by the moat. When he came to his senses, it was already dark, and the roadside became lively, with many vendors pushing carts to sell their wares.

As the evening breeze blew and a chill ran through him, Chang Pengfei was about to go home when he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

Chang Pengfei looked over and saw Tang Xianfang, looking disheveled, being surrounded by several shady-looking men.

Tang Xianfang was behaving strangely and seemed mentally unstable.

Chang Pengfei shouted as he ran over, "You bunch of bastards, stop right there!"

The enemy is strong and we are weak.

The men weren't afraid at all when they heard the noise. They continued to hold onto Tang Xianfang and glanced at Chang Pengfei with disdain.

When the stall owner, Old Song, saw a familiar face, he quickly peeked out from a short distance, then suddenly shouted, "The police are here!"

"Damn it! That brat dared to ruin our plans!" the men exclaimed, scattering in all directions.

Chang Pengfei steadily supported the unconscious Tang Xianfang, then turned to Old Song angrily and said, "Old Song, so you're still such a cold-blooded person! You can't even stand up for a young girl when she's in trouble!"

Old Song said matter-of-factly, "I make a living off this stall. If I'm going to do good deeds, do you think I won't have enough to eat?"

He pointed at Tang Xianfang and criticized her.

"That girl is something else. She doesn't go home late at night and gets drunk all by herself. I don't think she's any good either."

Chang Pengfei cursed: "You old Song, you deserve to be a bachelor your whole life!"

Old Song, hands on his hips, cursed: "Well, Chang Pengfei, you're asking for a beating, aren't you? Tell me quickly, do you know this girl? Everyone was saying you were head over heels in love with Wu Minjun, that you'd be willing to be cuckolded, the biggest lover in the world, tsk tsk, who would have thought you were secretly keeping a mistress!"

Chang Pengfei spat several times, "Get out! I treat her like my sister, Old Song, what kind of bullshit is that coming out of your mouth!"

Just as Old Song was about to retort, Tang Xianfang, who was completely drunk, suddenly perked up, grabbed Chang Pengfei's neck, and shouted, "Drink! Let's drink our fill!"

"Hey, you drunkard, shut up!" Chang Pengfei felt nauseous from the strong smell of alcohol on Tang Xianfang.

Old Song grinned mischievously: "You're quite the lucky guy, a beautiful woman is throwing herself at you!"

"Get lost!" Chang Pengfei rolled his eyes at her unhappily, and helped Tang Xianfang to leave.

Tang Xianfang refused, her eyes shining as she stared at the wine on Old Song's stall, repeatedly shouting, "Drink, drink, drink!"

Chang Pengfei was having a terrible headache dealing with this drunkard.

Old Song teased, "Hey, don't rush back to do your good deeds. Keep drinking, there's plenty of wine at my stall!"

"Damn it! Old Song, can't you stop thinking like that? I've already said I treat her like a younger sister!" Chang Pengfei was so angry he wanted to hit someone.

How could he and Tang Xianfang possibly be together?

That's Tang Xianfang! He's got a death wish!

Chang Pengfei gritted his teeth and made up his mind. He put his arm around Tang Xianfang's waist and picked her up. "What are you drinking for? We have to get this drunkard to a safe place now."

"Waaah..." Tang Xianfang suddenly burst into tears in his arms, clutching his collar and sobbing bitterly, "You all bully me, even you won't drink with me..."

Tang Xianfang's secret stash was stolen?

Chang Pengfei gritted his teeth: "Drink, drink, drink!"

Old Song grinned mischievously.

...

The next day, Chang Pengfei and Tang Xianfang woke up in the same bed.
