Chapter 398 Five Years Later (Part 3)

Zhou Hongyu stroked Ke Qiao's soft hair, unsure how to answer; matters of the heart cannot be forced.

She racked her brains but couldn't understand it. In her dream, Chang Rihui and Ke Qiao were entangled and bickering, but in the end, they couldn't reach a conclusion because of their long-distance relationship. Was this their destiny?

Zhou Hongyu comforted her with heartache: "Cry, cry, let it all out, don't bottle it up and make yourself suffer!"

The strong-willed Ke Qiao wiped away her tears and said, "Auntie, I won't cry. It's not worth shedding tears for a man like that!"

Zhou Hongyu smiled slightly and stroked her soft hair: "Good child, it's not worth it at all. He's starting his new life, and so will you!"

...

"Sigh!" Chang Meiying sighed. "Indeed, everyone has their troubles."

Children her age don't want to go to school or do homework every day; they just want to play as much as they want and don't want to worry about their grandmother's illness.

Things got even more complicated when it came to my sister in Keqiao.

She should just kick out that unfaithful man, her third brother, but her sister Keqiao always feels sad for him. I really can't understand it.

"Sister Meiying, what are you doing?" Zhou Haoran called out softly from the other end of the yard.

How tactless!

Before anyone in the room could notice anything amiss, Chang Meiying rushed to Zhou Haoran's side and snapped, "Zhou Haoran, you little brat, you almost got me into serious trouble!"

Zhou Haoran, the youngest son of Zhou Zhongliang, has not been able to be brought to live with his parents because they have never been able to completely resolve their family affairs. As a child, he watched as a little monkey that could not be raised, but with everyone's unremitting efforts, he grew into a chubby little boy.

Although being fat has its disadvantages, Chef Qiao believes that being fat can make up for half a life. Zhou Haoran is born with deficiencies, so being a little fat is more of an advantage than a disadvantage for him.

Thus, the chubby boy had a legitimate reason to be greedy.

Zhou Haoran took a bite of hawthorn cake and shook his head confidently: "Sister Meiying, how could I possibly harm you? You must have been doing something bad just now, and you're feeling guilty!"

"Eat your hawthorn cake!" Chang Meiying glared at him fiercely; this brat deserved a beating.

Zhou Haoran stuffed a mouthful into his mouth, then generously offered her a handful: "You should eat too. This was specially made for me by Grandpa Qiao, it's delicious!"

Chang Meiying took it and started eating. It was sweet and sour and very appetizing. She didn't remember ever eating anything so delicious.

So she said jealously, "How can Grandpa Qiao favor you? I've never eaten this before!"

Zhou Haoran looked at her in surprise: "You can't blame Grandpa Qiao. You were the one who said you didn't like it before!"

...

The scene immediately flashed through Chang Meiying's mind, and she frowned: "You remember? That happened when you were two years old!"

Zhou Haoran laughed arrogantly: "Sister Meiying, can I tell you? I also remember something that happened when you were a year and a half old. I heard Grandma and Auntie talking about how you once secretly drank alcohol and wet the bed!"

"Don't say it—"

Chang Meiying angrily raised her hand to hit him, but the chubby boy was unusually agile and dodged it in an instant. The two of them started playfully fighting.

So much time has passed, and Chang Pengfei and his family still haven't entered their home. Chang Pengfei is arguing with Tang Xianfang while holding his daughter.

The incident began with a gift Chang Pengfei prepared for his daughter that evening: a stack of first-grade elementary school test papers.

Tang Xianfang exploded as soon as she heard this, acting like she was crazy. What kind of good family would send a stack of test papers to their daughter on her first day of school!

Since her daughter An'an was born, Tang Xianfang has wanted to give An'an the best of everything in the world. She will never allow An'an to taste the bitterness she suffered all those years. Her daughter will have everything she wants. Her daughter doesn't need to work hard; she can just be happy every day.

For her daughter's sake, Tang Xianfang resigned from her job while pregnant and began preparing to improve her education. Shortly after giving birth, she received an admission notice from medical school. Now a senior, she is already an outstanding student favored by her professors, a hot commodity in the department, and has a bright future ahead of her.

Chang Pengfei and Tang Xianfang have completely opposite parenting philosophies. In his mind, his precious daughter is the most talented person.

Having witnessed geniuses like Chang Rihui and Tang Xianfang, he has unique insights into An'an's future planning. As capable parents, he wants An'an to win at the starting line from a young age, and to do everything early so that he can be far ahead of his peers.

Chang Pengfei spoke eloquently: "I've put more effort into An'an, so this gift is absolutely right. You clearly haven't read any parenting books. There's a recent bestseller that talks about the parenting experience of a mother of a Cambridge prodigy. We should learn from outstanding people..."

"shut your mouth!"

I've heard these words over and over again for years; they're so familiar.

Tang Xianfang reached out and hugged An'an, then walked into the house without looking back.

An'an leaned on her mother's shoulder, stretched out her little hand adorably, and sweetly said, "I want Daddy!"

Still angry with Tang Xianfang, Chang Pengfei chased after her without hesitation.

"An'an, Daddy's here!"

The food was served, filling two large tables in the courtyard.

One table was occupied by men drinking alcohol, while another table was occupied by women eating and chatting, and yet another by children engrossed in playing.

Chang Pengfei's mind was entirely on An'an. Tang Xianfang disliked the strong smell of alcohol at the men's table and kept An'an by her side, which meant that Chang Pengfei couldn't eat at all.

Chef Qiao and his apprentices were incredibly skilled, and everyone ate until they were stuffed. He was the only one who was truly idle, sitting around his daughter, and everyone would give him orders.

After the meal, he was so hungry that his stomach was practically sticking to his back.

Chang Pengfei: "..."

Why bother celebrating my daughter's first day of school? It's just asking for trouble!

Parenting books aren't always right!

Chang Pengfei held An'an and whispered in Tang Xianfang's ear. Tang Xianfang didn't want to listen to him, but since her daughter was in his arms, she had no choice but to listen.

Tang Xianfang rolled her eyes at him: "You're using foreign books to support Chinese kids? Are you wasting your brain? No wonder your grades are bad!"

Chang Pengfei: "..."

An'an looked over with innocent, wide eyes, and Chang Pengfei felt compelled to defend himself: "Parenting philosophies in China are relatively outdated. As parents, we should take the initiative to learn from the best practices abroad..."

"Shut up!" Tang Xianfang covered An'an's ears and snatched the ear away.

She threatened fiercely, "If you dare to say 'it's better abroad' in front of my daughter again, I'll bring her to live with me after she graduates!"

Whether something is good or bad, her daughter is capable and can make her own judgment; it's not up to others to instill this useless garbage in her ear.

Chang Pengfei didn't understand the meaning behind her words, so he quickly chased after her, wanting the child.

They were only living together for their daughter, and he absolutely refused to let Tang Xianfang take their daughter away!

The young couple were bickering again, and Zhou Hongyu stood not far away, too lazy to even glance at them.

She was right that year; the two of them might actually end up together, and that's exactly what happened.

Zhou Hongyu simply couldn't understand why some people would stumble twice over the same thing. One person lost control of their body while drunk, and the next they were pregnant and gave birth to their granddaughter An'an. They made one mistake after another, and just lived their lives in a daze.

"Go to hell with your ancestors! You damn daughter-in-law, even if you come to the bridge with eight men to invite me next time, I won't go!"

Chen Zhaodi, who was out taking care of her grandson, suddenly appeared at the door.
