Chapter 402 The Liu Family's Secret

The Chang family was gossiping about the Liu family in the courtyard across the street when trouble came knocking on their door.

After a period of commotion, the Liu family returned to calm, leaving only the cries of the woman and child, a truly desolate scene.

Hearing the crying, Chang Hongbing shook his head sympathetically, but he didn't have many thoughts in mind. The Liu family was a quagmire, and if one was not careful, it would drag well-meaning people into it and bury them.

As Chen Zhaodi and her mother-in-law were talking animatedly, Chang Hongbing vaguely heard a slight noise coming from the doorway.

He thought for a moment, and finally went over and opened a small crack.

Qi Fenglian's second son from her first marriage knocked shakily on the door.

Chang Hongbing set aside his meager sympathy and advised him: "Mangui, if you're not going to study now, hurry up and find a job to support yourself. Don't spend all your time messing around with that woman, your mother. The house is a family heirloom. If she wants to sell it for money, she'll have to wait decades. If you keep messing around with her, you might waste most of your life!"

It wasn't that she had any special feelings for the child; she simply didn't want things to get too complicated for the Liu family. Even a cornered dog will jump over a wall, and if things escalated, innocent people might be implicated.

Chang Hongbing was living a very comfortable life and didn't want to get involved.

Man Gui opened his mouth, but finally mustered his courage and said, "Uncle Hongbing, I'll listen to you. I want to find a job, but people don't want me because I'm too thin. If you have any jobs, please introduce me to one!"

After saying that, he turned and ran away.

Chang Hongbing shook his head. He could listen to what was said, but he spent most of his time at home taking care of the elderly. Where could he find someone to introduce him to someone? This kid hadn't found the right person!

Chang Hongbing closed the door and went back inside. Chen Zhaodi asked him out of curiosity, and he answered without reservation, along with his thoughts.

Chen Zhaodi shook her head in disdain: "You're stupid! He's not stupid! You think he's interested in you? He's interested in the Chang family!"

Not to mention Zhou Hongyu, who runs her own company and is her own boss, she is already a well-known figure in Shuangdong Hutong just by owning two or three clothing stores.

There's also Huaying, who teaches at a top university; Shuying, a very famous painter; Rihui, who is studying abroad; and Pengfei, who runs a private kitchen...

Their family has many prominent figures; Chang Hongbing is just one of the lesser ones.

Chang Hongbing was stunned for a moment, then gave Chen Zhaodi a deep look: "So what do you mean? You want to help?"

This is very unusual!

Since Chen Zhaodi resigned and started her own business, she has become even more ruthless and cold-blooded than Zhou Bapi in the play. Except for a very few close relatives, it is difficult for most people to get anything out of her.

"Let me think about it..." Chen Zhaodi kept him in suspense for a moment.

"What are you thinking! You can't get involved in the Liu family's affairs!" Chang Hongbing's expression changed.

When the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were discussing the Liu family, there was something he had never dared to say: Qi Fenglian was incorrigible and kept seducing men everywhere. Even though rabbits don't eat the grass near their burrows, Qi Fenglian even wanted to take him into her possession.

Chang Hongbing was terrified and dared not tell his family at all; it was too embarrassing!

Chen Zhaodi's madness has gotten involved with the Liu family's affairs, which gives Qi Fenglian even more excuse to stop him on the road. He's no match for Qi Fenglian, and he's afraid he won't be able to explain himself and will cause a lot of trouble.

Chen Zhaodi continued talking to herself, "Although Mangui isn't good at anything, he's an obedient child who does whatever I tell him to do. He's more useful than any of my relatives. I'm thinking of arranging a job for him first, and if it's suitable, I'll let him work at the shop..."

Chang Hongbing's face turned pale. "You've really got me into serious trouble!"

Granny Chang laughed inappropriately: "What's wrong with Hongbing? Don't you want Mangui to work for Zhaodi?"

Chen Zhaodi immediately looked over, her eyes sharp, and said, "What's going on between you and Qi Fenglian?"

Granny Chang laughed incessantly: "Hongbing, just tell us the truth, and if there's nothing wrong, we won't hold it against you!"

Chen Zhaodi nodded.

Chang Hongbing glanced at Chen Zhaodi with fear and couldn't help but tell her everything that had happened that day.

Chen Zhaodi's face immediately turned terrified, wishing she could take back what she had said.

Thump—

Suddenly, Granny Chang tapped Chang Hongbing on the forehead, and Chang Hongbing cried out miserably, "Mom, I didn't do anything wrong!"

Why did he have to suffer this?

Chen Zhaodi glared at him: "Flies don't land on eggs without cracks. Do you dare say you usually follow the rules?"

Chang Hongbing immediately dared not argue back.

Before the incident, he had no prejudice against Qi Fenglian. Sometimes, when Qi Fenglian needed help, he would lend a helping hand. Who knew that Qi Fenglian would disgust him so badly, causing him to still be unable to get over the trauma.

Granny Chang looked at her son and then at her daughter-in-law, and with a wave of her hand, announced, "From now on, you are not allowed to have any dealings with the Liu family!"

Man Gui walked into the Liu family home full of anticipation, only to be met with a fierce expression from Granny Liu who threw a basin of dirty water at him.

He cursed, "You ungrateful wretch! You eat and drink from the Liu family's food and water, yet you insist on becoming someone else's lapdog!"

They cursed him with all sorts of dirty and smelly language, but Liu Laoguai and the others, who were watching TV, simply pretended not to see it.

Qi Fenglian hid in her room pretending to be dead, but eventually couldn't stand it anymore and ran out to argue. The Liu family made a huge scene again, which ended with Qi Fenglian dragging her good-for-nothing second son back to their room to avoid the chaos.

Qi Fenglian grabbed Man Gui's ear and whispered, "You want someone to be your father? I want it even more than you do, but he doesn't care!"

As Qi Fenglian gets older, she increasingly regrets the decisions she made when she was young.

Someone got a great deal out of her; I heard she's living the high life with Chairman Lin's mistress, owning several houses and having no worries about food or drink, surrounded by a group of people serving her like a rich lady.

She was burdened by this predictable family situation: a useless man, a competitive stepson, and a fierce mother-in-law—each a major headache.

She still can't find anyone to rescue her. She's old and faded, and finding someone else might not be as good as the Liu family.

Qi Fenglian looked in the direction of the Chang family with hatred. If she had known that the Chang family would live such a good life, she should have made a move earlier. With her looks back then, even if she couldn't win over the most promising Chang Xingwang, she would definitely have been able to win over Chang Hongbing, who had little presence in the family but craved attention!

It's not hard to guess what his biological mother was thinking. Man Gui was filled with shame. Uncle Hongbing and his wife were good people; he could tell that with his eyes.

Aunt Zhaodi may be fierce and loud, but she is an exceptionally kind person. She is filial to the elderly and treats children well.

Sometimes Aunt Zhaodi would buy candy from outside and distribute it. He would rush over because he was greedy, and although he would get a dirty look, he would still get a taste of sweetness. Other people, let alone get a piece of candy, would get a scolding even if they were just walking on the street.

Sure enough, after a short while, Granny Liu started cursing again in the yard.

Qi Fenglian waited for a while, but still didn't get any support from Liu Laoguai, and she gritted her teeth in anger.

These members of the Liu family are definitely hiding something from her!

In the past, although Liu Laoguai knew she was restless, he could only tolerate it because his family couldn't afford to change wives. But at some point, Liu Laoguai's attitude changed completely.
