Chapter 51 Elderly Care

Granny Zhou put her arm around Chang Shuying's shoulder and taught her how to paint with a brush.

Completely different from drawing with a pencil, Chang Shuying became obsessed with it.

Chang Meiying, lying on the side as an audience member, said, "Sister, your drawing isn't very good..."

Granny Zhou and Chang Shuying turned their heads at the same time, their voices resolute: "What do you know!"

Chang Meiying was startled; she was still a baby!

She pouted, her voice tinged with jealousy, "Grandma likes my sister more now."

My sister is my older sister, but that doesn't stop her from vying for attention. Besides, Mei Ying is someone who likes to be the center of attention.

Chang Shuying immediately put down her brush and chuckled, "Meiying..."

So cute, I love you so much!

Grandma Zhou opened her arms and hugged her little granddaughter tightly: "I love both of you grandmas!"

Then she turned to Zhou Hongyu and yelled, "What are you standing there for? I'm already helping you take care of the kids, and you still want me to make you lunch?!"

"Alright," Zhou Hongyu raised an eyebrow.

Her most beloved youngest daughter suddenly became the bottom of the food chain.

See? That's just how capricious Granny Zhou is.

Zhou Hongyu sighed, "I'll go cook for you."

"Mom, I'll go help you!" Chang Shuying put down her calligraphy brush. She wanted to stay by her mother's side more than her grandmother.

Granny Zhou dragged the child back and pressed him onto the kang (a heated brick bed), ordering, "If you learn what I just taught you, I'll definitely tell your mother when you get home today that she has to find you a class at the Children's Palace to help you with your drawing!"

Not just anyone can go to the Children's Palace.

Grandma arranged things to her mother without knowing anything about it.

Chang Shuying threw a tantrum: "I'm not drawing anymore!"

"Oh!" Granny Zhou looked at her with a serious face.

"Hmph." Chang Shuying moved to the other side of the kang to avoid Granny Zhou and leaned against her younger sister.

Chang Meiying smiled and hugged her neck, sweetly calling out, "Sister."

The usually domineering and unreasonable Granny Zhou was furious. Her most obedient grandson was becoming unruly.

After taking another look at Chang Shuying, Granny Zhou immediately felt relieved.

When she paints, she looks almost exactly like the old man, and when she throws a tantrum, she looks almost exactly the same. Granny Zhou suddenly laughed when she thought about it.

The Chang sisters looked up and saw that their grandmother had become very strange, not at all like the fierce grandmother they used to know!

After Zhou Hongyu finished preparing lunch, Chang Shuying immediately abandoned the unusually talkative Granny Zhou and dragged her younger sister to help get the bowls and chopsticks.

At the dinner table, Granny Zhou didn't pay attention to her food. She ate a few bites of noodles and then stopped, pointing at Chang Shuying and instructing Zhou Hongyu.

"When you get back, go to the Children's Palace and find her a class to learn painting well. This child can't be neglected!"

Before Zhou Hongyu could reply, Chang Shuying interrupted, "Grandma, I don't go to the Children's Palace. Our school's art teacher is amazing. He's a graduate of the China Academy of Art, and I really like him!"

Most importantly, it saves time and effort.

It doesn't cost money or require any effort.

Chang Shuying didn't want to take up too much of Zhou Hongyu's time; she knew her mother had many things to worry about.

My second brother and his future sister-in-law are waiting to buy a house and get married; my third brother is unruly; and my youngest sister likes to cause trouble...

Her father was away from home for long periods of time, and her mother raised four children by herself, which was very tiring.

Granny Zhou was not satisfied with what she heard and, being impulsive, wanted to reprimand her.

At this crucial moment, Zhou Hongyu stepped in to stop them: "Shuying, Grandma doesn't know much about the art teachers at your school. Can you talk to Grandma about it?"

One is her daughter, and the other is her mother; how could she not understand these two people?

These two people have one thing in common: they are both incredibly stubborn!

Although Chang Shuying is usually easy to talk to, once she gets stubborn, no one can change her mind.

Since Zhou Hongyu said so, Chang Shuying obediently started talking about the school's art teacher: "Our art teacher is really good, he teaches us..."

Granny Zhou listened patiently to the end, and finally gave a lukewarm summary: "Good teachers all go out and make big money on their own. The art teachers in your school are either stupid or not skilled enough!"

"No way!"

In just one morning, Chang Shuying, who used to tremble with fear at the sight of Granny Zhou, began to boldly speak out against some of Granny Zhou's ideas.

Zhou Hongyu nodded with satisfaction.

She made the right bet.

With that in mind, she felt even more at ease about her next decision.

"Mom, you should stay in Beijing from now on. Once I buy a house and move out, I'll bring you home to live with me in your old age!"

Zhou Hongyu earned more than 5,000 yuan from selling clothes last time. With this money, she can buy a house and move out, and rightfully bring her mother to live with her in her old age.

If she can't find a suitable house in downtown Beijing, she'll buy one in the suburbs where she is now, or in the third or fourth ring road area in the future.

With the rapid development of China's economy in the future, it won't be long before the area around Zhoujia Village is just as prosperous.

She plans to buy a house closer to Zhoujia Village, even though it will take longer to commute, it will also make it easier for her to take care of her mother.

Granny Zhou turned her face away: "I have two sons, why would I need a daughter to support me in my old age!"

Chang Shuying and her sister asked anxiously, "Mom, don't we want Grandma anymore?!"

Old Man Chang can be thrown away, but Granny Chang, who loves and pampers them, absolutely cannot be abandoned!

Zhou Hongyu smiled and said, "We'll buy a bigger house then, so Grandma and Grandpa can live there!"

The two sisters were relieved. Although they felt sad about having to move away from Shuangdong Hutong where they grew up, it was good that they could bring their grandmother with them.

Meanwhile, Granny Zhou had a long face and was very unhappy.

"You're a family of six. Don't Pengfei and Rihui plan to get married and have children in the future? You want to bring the three of us along too? Is your house big enough for everyone? Zhou Hongyu, are you even going to live a normal life?!"
