Chapter 9 Granny Chang

Chang Huaying's mouth dropped open in surprise. The situation had taken a complete 360-degree turn; her second aunt hadn't been the one causing trouble after all!

It's rare for newlyweds to ask to buy a house, but it does happen.

When Wu Minjun got into university, many of her friends were also university students. These people were among the best of their age, and they competed with each other. It's not hard to explain why she suddenly proposed buying a house when they were close to getting their marriage certificate.

Chang Huaying considers herself a young person and has different views from the elders in her family.

"Alright, Shuying, adults' affairs are none of your business, children. Take this plate out!"

Chang Huaying comforted Chang Shuying, who was feeling down because of the incident.

Buy a house.

What we lack most is money.

A few years ago, you could buy a room in Beijing for a few hundred yuan. After the economic market was opened up, the flow of people became stronger, and people from other places with ability were desperate to squeeze into Beijing, causing housing prices to multiply several times.

For the same price, you would have to go to a rural area on the outskirts of the city to buy a house.

Chang Huaying thought of her savings; if her second aunt needed it, she could lend it to her!

"Huaying, you're back!" Zhou Hongyu was called out of her room by her eldest daughter for dinner and saw Chang Huaying busy in the kitchen. She immediately greeted her with a smile.

She took care of Chang Huaying a lot when she was a child.

Chen Zhaodi was in a hurry to go back to work after giving birth to Chang Huaying, but she was forced to stay in the Chang family for the full postpartum period by the elderly couple before she was allowed to leave the house.

When Chang Huaying was just a month old, Chen Zhaodi wanted to move all her eating, drinking, and toileting needs to the factory, and Zhou Hongyu had been helping to take care of her since she was pregnant with her eldest son.

The two have a deep affection for each other and are very close when they are together.

When Chang Huaying saw Zhou Hongyu come out of the room, she wanted to talk about her cousin's marriage.

At this moment, Chang Meiying and Old Man Chang, who were crying and making a fuss, entered the room.

Old Man Chang angrily brought Chang Meiying, who had been crying and making a fuss all the way back, to Zhou Hongyu.

"You can beat her hard this time, I won't stop you. This child is so disobedient!"

That's what they say, but whenever Zhou Hongyu was about to hit someone, Old Man Chang was the first to rush out and stop her.

"No, no! I want to buy that toy! Grandpa's mean! He won't buy it for me!"

Chang Meiying was fearless, but she dared to sit on the ground and throw a tantrum in front of Zhou Hongyu.

Zhou Hongyu's temper flared up instantly. This child was the youngest and most pampered in the family; everyone doted on her like the apple of their eye.

Zhou Hongyu thought about how her daughter would get into trouble because of her unruly nature, and how she would lose all her smiles and spirit. This was not the outcome she wanted to see!

"Chang, Mei, Ying!"

Chang Meiying immediately stopped crying, got up from the ground, brushed the dust off her bottom, and grinned at Zhou Hongyu: "Mom, I'm being good, you don't need to be angry!"

Is it because I was in a bad mood at work today that my tolerance for her is so incredibly low?

Chang Meiying was particularly good at reading people's expressions and immediately sensed danger as soon as Zhou Hongyu made a sound.

Old Man Chang also sensed that Zhou Hongyu was acting strangely today. Worried that his granddaughter would be beaten, he immediately pulled her behind him and hid her.

"Hongyu, don't scold her. She's still young and doesn't understand anything. She's only crying because we didn't buy it for her. I'll go buy it for her in a bit, and she'll behave right away!"

Chang Meiying hugged the old man affectionately and said, "Grandpa, you're the best!"

Zhou Hongyu: "..."

So after all this fuss, you grandfather and grandson have such a great relationship, and I'm the bad guy standing in your way!

Zhou Hongyu sternly warned: "Dad, you are not allowed to buy any more toys for Chang Meiying. She has enough toys already! You always buy her toys, so it's definitely not worth it if you don't buy her any this time. If she makes a fuss, she's just asking for a beating!"

Chang Shuying, who was not involved, remained silent and moved to the side.

Chang Meiying wailed, "Mom, you're not nice to me at all! Grandpa wanted to buy me a toy, but you wouldn't give it to me!"

Zhou Hongyu defiantly slapped her hard.

Chang Meiying's bared teeth disappeared, and she transformed into an adorable little white rabbit: "It's okay. Even though Mom won't let me buy it, you're still my favorite person!"

Zhou Hongyu: "You'd better think that way too!"

Chang Meiying: "Hehehe..."

Old Man Chang was afraid that his granddaughter would anger Zhou Hongyu again, so he pulled her away: "Go wash your face, you're all dirty."

"Mom, I want to use the new soap you bought!"

"knew!"

Zhou Hongyu went back to her room with a long face to find her some soap, and Chang Shuying finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Shuying, is there something you want to say to your second aunt?"

Chang Huaying's sudden voice nearly gave Chang Shuying a heart attack. She vehemently denied it, saying, "Big sister, I didn't!"

"real?"

"Um……"

Chang Shuying's tone was hesitant, and Chang Huaying, seeing her concerns, didn't press her further. She figured that when the time was right, Chang Shuying would naturally open up and speak her mind.

Dinner included meat that Chang Huaying had bought, and for staple food, Zhou Hongyu planned to make a large bowl of noodles with soybean paste. Chang Huaying was more efficient than Chang Shuying, so she stayed to help out.

Chang Shuying came out of the kitchen, washed her hands, and waved to Chang Meiying, who had changed her clothes, to come over.

"Sister, I saw what you wanted, but Grandpa won't buy it for you. He says it's not worth spending so much money!"

"It's okay, Mei Ying, I'll buy it after I've saved up enough money."

"Have you saved enough money, sister? By the time you've saved enough, they'll have already sold out."

Chang Meiying speaks frankly and directly.

Chang Shuying smiled and said, "It's okay, there will be next time. There will always be opportunities in the future. Right now, the family is short of money. Without money, my brother can't marry Sister Minjun."

Chang Meiying pouted: "Sister, when will the family not be short of money? After they get married, they'll have children, and after that, they'll have to raise them. There will always be a shortage of money. If you miss this opportunity, you'll miss it forever!"
