Chapter 195 Want to Eat Stinky Tofu

"Wife, what do you think of this!"

Qin Zheng excitedly put down the bags and packages he was carrying next to Ye Yun, and also handed her a string of crystal-clear candied hawthorns, looking at her with bright eyes.

Ye Yun glanced at the pile of things.

Peach shortbread, melon seeds, calcium milk biscuits, and unripe peaches—I don't know whose peach tree they came from—but none of these things piqued her interest.

The only thing that caught my eye was the candied hawthorn.

Bright red hawthorn berries, arranged by size on bamboo skewers, are coated with a layer of glistening, transparent syrup, making them look incredibly tempting.

Ye Yun was too weak to vomit and listlessly accepted the candied hawthorn from Qin Zheng's hand.

She took a bite of the hawthorn.

She bit into the hawthorn fruit, and the intense sweet and sour taste instantly made her mouth water. She quickly returned the candied hawthorn to Qin Zheng.

"It's so sour, I don't want to eat it anymore..."

She clutched her teeth, slumped back into the rocking chair, and gazed at the distant mountains with utter despair.

Qin Zheng was so anxious that he kept scratching his head.

What should I do? What should I do? My wife can't eat anything!

"Wife, is there really nothing you want to eat?" Qin Zheng asked nervously again, holding a candied hawthorn.

This was also his first time becoming a father, and he had never encountered such a tricky situation before.

Ye Yun gazed at the distant mountains, her lips moved slightly, and a strange, inexplicable impulse suddenly rose within her. She murmured softly, "Qin Zheng, I want to eat stinky tofu..."

"What?"

Stinky tofu!

Ye Yun seemed to have found her direction in an instant. Her eyes lit up, and she grabbed Qin Zheng's hand excitedly, saying, "It's that kind of thing... that can fill the emptiness in my heart!"

"ah?"

Qin Zheng looked completely bewildered, clearly not understanding the sophisticated words she was using.

Ye Yun blinked.

Qin Zheng blinked as well.

After a long while, he finally seemed to realize what was happening, but his lips twitched in a strange way. "Wife? You really want to eat stinky tofu?"

Ye Yun nodded.

Qin Zheng: "..."

Qin Zheng was stunned.

People say that if you crave sour food, you'll have a boy; if you crave spicy food, you'll have a girl. So what kind of baby will his wife give birth to if she craves stinky food?

Qin Zheng was in a daze, as if he were seeing himself many years later.

The elderly man held a huge, dark, stinky tofu in his arms, and the stinky tofu happily called him "Dad" over and over again...

hiss……

Qin Zheng quickly shook his head, feeling like he was about to go berserk!

"OK!"

Qin Zheng gritted his teeth, stood up and said, "Wife, I'll go find you some stinky tofu. I'll go see if Old Man Ma from next door knows how to make stinky tofu!"

Is it Old Ma's house next door?

Ye Yun suddenly remembered that was Guo Youcai's girlfriend's house.

Previously, Li Xiuying had specifically come to Qin Zheng to ask him to give Guo Youcai a decent job so that he could marry this woman. Not long ago, that incident happened.

Thinking of this, Ye Yun got up and followed Qin Zheng onto his old bicycle.

Qin Zheng asked in surprise, "Wife, what are you doing?"

"I'll go with you." Ye Yun grabbed his waist and patted him, urging him to hurry up and leave.

Qin Zheng was puzzled.

He didn't really want to take Ye Yun with him. Some of the mountain roads were difficult to travel, and it would be dangerous to ride a bicycle on a 28-inch bike. He was afraid that he might bump Ye Yun again on the way.

Ye Yun patted his back and laughed, "I'll go with you to see if Old Ma's has any stinky tofu. If they do, we'll buy some. If not, I'll see what else they have!"

If not, she wondered if she could develop a business selling stinky tofu.

Qin Zheng got out of the car instead.

He went inside, and when he came out, he had a cotton pad in his hand. He found a rope, tied the cotton pad to the back seat, patted it to make sure it wasn't hard, and then let Ye Yun sit on it.

Ye Yun smiled warmly.

"Thank you, Qin Zheng." She touched the cushion; it was so soft it seemed to melt into her heart.

Qin Zheng scratched his head a little embarrassedly and chuckled softly, "What are you saying, wife? I'm your man, this is nothing I should do."

Ye Yun gave a soft "hmm".

Qin Zheng also got on his bicycle. He told Ye Yun to sit properly and hold onto his waist, then rode away from the courtyard.

The neighboring village isn't far; it only takes about ten minutes to get there by riding a bicycle.

This was even with Qin Zheng riding relatively slowly, and Ye Yun sitting behind him. He didn't dare to ride fast, afraid of scaring her.

Soon, after asking around in the village, they found out where Old Ma Zi lived.

The small courtyard, no bigger than the palm of a hand, contained a huge millstone, which made Ye Yun quite envious. If this millstone were used to grind her family's mung beans, it would definitely be incredibly efficient!

Is anyone there?

Seeing that the courtyard was very quiet, Qin Zheng raised his voice and called out.

The curtain was lifted, and a little girl of about six or seven years old peeked out from the next room. She had two pigtails tied with red ribbons, and her big, watery eyes looked timidly at Qin Zheng and Ye Yun.

Afraid of frightening the little girl, Qin Zheng asked in a low voice, "Little girl, where are your parents?"

The little girl glanced at Qin Zheng and Ye Yun, then ran back into the house. A short while later, other noises came from inside.

When the curtain was lifted again, the little girl came out holding the hand of an old woman.

The elderly woman, around fifty or sixty years old, was thin and had a blue scarf wrapped around her head. When she saw Qin Zheng and Ye Yun, she looked puzzled, opened her mouth, and pointed at Qin Zheng and Ye Yun to the little girl in her arms.

"My grandma asked what you're here for?" the little girl translated, understanding the implication.
