Li Xiuying became angrier the more she thought about it. Why did a dog get to eat better than her?
She is Qin Zheng's mother!
Li Xiuying was about to call out into the courtyard when Qin Zheng suddenly stood up as if he remembered something, and went into the main room with Ye Yun, carrying his bowl.
"Eh..."
Before Li Xiuying could even utter a word, her face turned green upon seeing the two people in the main room.
Isn't Qin Zheng just avoiding her?
"Mom, I want to eat dumplings..." Guo Youcai stared longingly at the people eating dumplings in the yard, his stomach growling, and he couldn't help but rub his empty belly.
For the past few days, he has been hiding near Old Ma's house.
He had no money, ate wild fruits, and drank spring water. Now, smelling the aroma of pork dumplings, his mouth watered uncontrollably, and his eyes turned red with envy.
Seeing her youngest son staring intently at the dumplings, Li Xiuying also had an idea.
"His aunt!"
He shamelessly called out into the yard.
Qin Xiang'e had just put a dumpling in her mouth when she heard Li Xiuying shout, and she couldn't help but look up at her.
Li Xiuying chuckled, "Auntie, your dumplings smell really good. You see, our Youcai hasn't had dumplings in a long time. You're the auntie, so why don't you serve some to Youcai too?"
Qin Xiang'e frowned.
Are you begging for food?
First, she couldn't bear to part with it.
Second, she just couldn't bear to part with it.
"Who's the aunt? My nephew's eating dumplings in the house right now, don't try to claim kinship with me!"
Qin Xiang'e rolled her eyes, picked up a dumpling, and put it in her mouth in front of Li Xiuying.
"Mmm, it smells delicious!"
The sauce and oil splattered from the dumplings overflowed from Qin Xiang'e's lips, glistening with oil, making Li Xiuying unable to resist licking her lips.
"That despicable old hag, she has no regard for our past relationship at all!"
Li Xiuying was so angry she could have teeth itched. She grabbed Guo Youcai's hand, turned around, and left, saying, "Come on, son, Mom will go back and make dumplings for you!"
"Making dumplings?"
Guo Youcai's eyes lit up when he heard those three words.
Li Xiuying nodded emphatically, and as if deliberately being defiant, raised her voice and shouted into the yard: "What era are we living in? Who can't afford a meal of dumplings? What are you showing off for!"
Qin Xiang'e, who was in the courtyard, couldn't help but laugh.
"Exactly, these days every family owns land, who can't afford a meal of dumplings?"
A loud, boisterous voice came from behind.
Down the slope, Aunt Tian, who was sitting at the door eating dinner with her bowl in hand, had been watching the commotion for a long time before finally speaking up.
Almost everyone nearby joined in the fun.
Qin Xiang'e quickly shouted, "Sister Tian, don't mess with her, or she might bite you!"
"It's alright!" Aunt Tian knew that Li Xiuying was just trying to save face, so she deliberately raised her voice and teased, "Sister-in-law Guo, you say that everyone can afford to eat dumplings these days, but let me ask you, can your Guo family afford to eat them?"
Li Xiuying glared at him and said, "What's it to you!"
"Hahaha! I bet your family can't afford this!" Aunt Tian wasn't afraid of her at all. She clapped her hands and shouted to the other families, "I bet everyone can afford these dumplings, except for Old Guo's family!"
Why?
"Old Guo's family doesn't have any land!"
"Hahaha!"
Everyone burst into laughter, and even Qin Xiang'e in the courtyard couldn't help but laugh along.
Li Xiuying's face turned pale and then red. She glared fiercely at Qin Xiang'e and Aunt Tian, then hurriedly pulled Guo Youcai, whose face was flushed, away.
Before they had gone far, Guo Youcai angrily flung Li Xiuying's hand away.
"Mom! I'm not going home!"
"What?" Li Xiuying was surprised that her youngest son, whom she had just found, was not coming home. She exclaimed, "Sanzi, you are my precious darling. If you don't come home, how am I supposed to stay at Lao Guo's house?"
She's seen things clearly during this time.
Without her own sons to back her up, Guo's two sons wouldn't take her seriously.
Now that Qin Zheng is ignoring her, she has to keep a close eye on her precious son, Guo Youcai, as he is her only hope in this remote mountain village.
However, Guo Youcai suddenly retorted, "What does it matter to me how you stay?"
"What?"
Li Xiuying stared at Guo Youcai in shock. Was this still the same youngest son who would cling to her arm and act spoiled?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Guo Youcai was already annoyed by Li Xiuying's gaze, and his temper flared up instantly. He said with disgust, "If you hadn't held onto your money and refused to let me get married, would Xiuer have been taken away by someone else? Would I be in this state now? Li Xiuying, you ruined my life. You went too far!"
"From now on, you are no longer my mother. I'm leaving. I'm going out to make my own way in the world. I'll never come back!"
"..."
By the time Li Xiuying came to her senses, Guo Youcai's figure had almost disappeared from her sight.
She was utterly shocked.
She suddenly realized what was happening.
She regretted it.
"Three sons! Three sons!"
She hurried after him, her steps faltering uncontrollably.
However, Guo Youcai went further and further away, faster and faster, so fast that she, an old woman over fifty, could not keep up with his pace at all. In the end, she could only watch helplessly as Guo Youcai ran onto the official road and jumped onto a passing tractor.
Li Xiuying fell on her bottom and sat on the ground, crying and slapping her thigh.
"Oh dear, Sanzi..."
...
Before dusk, Ye Yun and the others set off and returned to the county town before dark. After tidying up, they went to sleep. The next day, Ye Yun threw herself into the tasks that she had not yet completed.
