Xu Jiashen is a ruthless man who doesn't value family ties. He probably wouldn't even bother to look at a member of the Xu family, let alone have them imprisoned or beaten to death.
In his eyes, nothing is more important than money, including family.
The reason for this attack on Chen Zhenxing is most likely because of the garment factory, but Qin Zheng doesn't intend to say that. If Ye Yun knew that Xu Jiashen's actions were aimed at her, she would definitely step in and put herself in danger.
"Don't worry, honey. You and Secretary Liu stay home. I'll go with Gu Jin and bring Chen Zhenxing back to you safely, okay?"
He gently stroked the woman's back, again and again, with a tender and comforting touch.
Gu Jin's eyes widened.
"You're going, so why are you taking me with you?" He shook his head as if he wanted to avoid it, saying, "My father told me to stay away from Xu Jiashen's people. I don't dare to go near them!"
Qin Zheng wasn't surprised. "Okay, then you stay home and keep Ye Yun and Secretary Liu company."
"And what about you?"
"I'll go by myself."
"you……"
Gu Jin was surprised by Qin Zheng's persistence. Did he really have no choice but to go?
If they don't go, does Xu Jiashen really have the guts to get rid of Chen Zhenxing?
"Manager Gu, you've known Factory Director Chen for a while now. It's one thing for you to stand by and watch him die, but are you going to stop others from doing so?" Liu Wan looked at him with tears in her eyes, her gaze filled with resentment.
Gu Jin chuckled.
"Do you even know who Xu Jiashen is?" He chuckled angrily, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes as he looked at Liu Wan.
That's a heartless guy; who knows what he might do if you anger him.
It's not that he's afraid of Xu Jiashen.
Before his father went into business, he was a well-known figure even in Beijing. After going into business, he accumulated a lot of connections locally. Why should he be afraid of a gangster boss who suddenly appeared out of nowhere?
It's better to avoid trouble.
They followed a different path from Xu Jiashen. Old Gu did business honestly and uprightly, and Xu Jiashen did not provoke him because of Old Gu's status and position. The two sides had no conflicts of interest and kept to themselves.
If Old Gu and Xu Jiashen become rivals, and they fight to the death, at worst they will both suffer heavy losses.
But that's Old Gu.
The person with wealth, status, and identity is Old Gu, and Gu Jin is just his son.
A rich second-generation heir who has neither money nor status, but lives off his ancestors' legacy, loafing around all day and at worst going back to inherit the family business and live a life of idleness.
Old Gu treated his son fairly well.
Although they only met a few times a year, and when they did meet, they only exchanged a few perfunctory words of concern, they never restricted Gu Jin's freedom.
Even though he would always sigh and want to come home and inherit the family business after drinking too much during the New Year's Eve dinner, and take the opportunity to give him a lecture, he still let him do nothing outside and never forced him.
Gu Jin really couldn't bear to let his father sacrifice most of his business for him.
As a brother, he would not hesitate to follow Qin Zheng to see Xu Jiashen.
As a son, he had to consider his father's feelings; at the very least, he couldn't get himself into trouble and drag his father down with him.
Gu Jin turned around and wrote a letter.
"Deliver this to No. 56 Wutong Lane when it gets light. No one's home, just give it to the nanny." He tossed the letter to Liu Wan irritably and pulled Qin Zheng outside.
Qin Zheng didn't move.
His scrutinizing gaze lingered on Gu Jin's face, and his tone turned serious: "What did you write?"
"A letter severing ties."
Gu Jin didn't hide anything, shrugged, and said in a nonchalant tone, "Now that I've chosen to be your brother, I can't drag my dad down with me anymore, can I?"
"You're really something."
With a stern face, Qin Zheng snatched the letter from Liu Wan's hand and tore it to shreds.
A gentle smile appeared in Ye Yun's eyes as she looked at Gu Jin and teased, "I thought your persona had collapsed."
"Tch~ You underestimate me."
Gu Jin didn't care at all; the person who could intimidate him probably hadn't been born yet.
The Gu family doesn't only have him as a child. If something really happens to him, he can simply marry into Gu Yingying's family. There are plenty of people to carry on their family line.
The night grew thicker.
The streets, like calm rivers, meander through the dense foliage, while the dark night sky, like a giant net, silently and oppressively covers the earth.
Zhongxing Tower, located in the west of the city, is hidden in a dense forest, yet it is still brightly lit.
When his subordinates came to report, Xu Jiashen was sitting in the Buddhist hall, leisurely drinking tea.
The huge Buddha statue on the high platform was covered with a yellow cloth, as if it was afraid that its actions would be known by the Buddha, and thought that by covering the Buddha, its sins would not be seen.
Chen Zhenxing, meanwhile, was placed unconscious on a chair opposite the long table.
He was half-lying on the table, with a freshly poured cup of hot tea in front of him, wisps of steam rising from it. Anyone who didn't know him would think he was just dazed by the aroma of the tea.
Qin Zheng and Gu Jin entered the Buddhist hall.
Upon hearing the commotion, Xu Jiashen slowly put down his teacup. He looked up but didn't see Ye Yun, but he wasn't surprised. Instead, he greeted Qin Zheng and Gu Jin with a smile, as if he were seeing an old friend.
"Oh? What brings you two here?"
Although he was smiling, his eyes were full of calculation and assessment as he gestured for him to enter.
"Would you two mind if you sat down and had a drink?"
After saying that, he called out to Gu Jin, clearly recognizing him, and said in a friendly manner, "Nephew of the Gu family, I met your father not long ago, but I haven't met you yet. Come, take your friend to sit down and have a cup of tea with your uncle."
"Don't be like that, I just came with a friend."
With a single sentence, Gu Jin severed all ties with the Gu family, still smiling nonchalantly.
His attitude shows that his actions tonight have nothing to do with the Gu family, and also indirectly indicates that they are not here to negotiate peace.
"To be honest, Third Uncle, I want to take someone away from here today. Would you be so kind as to do me this?"
Gu Jin always knew how to speak to people in a way that suited them, and when he met someone like Xu Jiashen, he should praise him.
Hold him in your arms and make him happy.
He had no interest in having tea with a heartless bastard; he just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
"Nephew of the Gu family, you are joking."
Seemingly thinking they were overestimating themselves, Xu Jiashen sneered, his mouth, which had been slashed once, twisted strangely, and his sinister face looked even more terrifying in the candlelight.
He stopped looking at Gu Jin and stared directly at Qin Zheng with a calculating and displeased gaze.
"There are some things that need to be discussed by Qin's nephew."
"It's my first time meeting you. I didn't bring a gift, please forgive me." Qin Zheng spoke calmly, looking Xu Jiashen straight in the eye.
Before the other party completely breaks off relations, he will give them some face, especially since he has a deep-seated grudge with the Xu family and they are somewhat related.
"What are you saying? I invited you, my dear nephew. There's no reason for you to bring a gift."
That's what he said, but Xu Jiashen's eyes always gleamed with the predatory light of a viper, his gaze fixed on Qin Zheng without moving.
“My dear nephew should know what I mean. It’s really sad that I didn’t get to see the person I wanted to see beforehand.”
