Chapter 401 Such Good Feelings

The moment she touched Qin Zheng's embrace, a warm sense of security enveloped her, causing the thorns that had been raised on Ye Yun's body to slowly soften.

"fine."

She didn't say much about Luo Xiujuan's matter, partly out of respect for Luo Xiujuan, and partly because Luo Xiujuan's emotions were indeed not right.

It can only be said that her mother's experience instilled in her an unspeakable hostility toward such things. Even though she knew that Mu Jingsheng did not intentionally abandon her mother, she still could not let go of the resentment.

Even Mu Jingsheng, who loved her mother so much, had abandoned her mother briefly. How many of those educated youth who abandoned their lovers and returned to the city were truly innocent?

"Alright, don't be upset." Seeing that she didn't want to say more, Qin Zheng didn't ask any further questions.

His large, warm hands gently stroked Ye Yun's back, one on the right and one on the right, making her feel his presence and soothing her.

Ye Yun felt a warmth in her heart, and a faint smile appeared on her lips. "You took the old man back?"

"Hmm." Seeing the smile on her face, Qin Zheng's expression also brightened with a smile. He whispered in her ear, "Are you going out today?"

They had originally planned to go to town today.

Ye Yun shook her head and winked at the house, "I'm afraid we can't get out."

Qin Xiang'e thought so too; they couldn't leave a strange mother and child in the house. So she changed the subject and asked, "What would you like to eat for lunch? I'll go prepare the ingredients."

Ye Yun touched her stomach.

She had just eaten breakfast not long ago. She got up late, and although it was already lunchtime for most families, she had only just finished eating breakfast herself.

Qin Zheng looked at him gently the whole time, speaking patiently: "Don't rush, wife, take your time thinking about it. I'll go inside and take a look."

Ye Yun nodded.

Qin Zheng considerately pulled the recliner next to her before turning around and stepping into the house.

Inside the house, Luo Xiujuan was using the cool water Ye Yun had left in the room to wipe her son's face. The child's face was covered in dust, so she wrung out the towel, wiped his face, and then wiped his neck, trying her best to make the child look clean and lovable.

Suddenly, I heard a noise behind me.

Luo Xiujuan thought Ye Yun had gone back to the house, but when she turned her head, she saw the tall Qin Zheng standing at the door, which made her tremble with fright.

"Big brother is back." Luo Xiujuan said tremblingly, a look of fear appearing in her eyes.

Indeed, Qin Zheng's expression was not good.

What did you say to my wife?

When Qin Zheng spoke, his tone was dark and gloomy, carrying an indescribable sense of gloom.

Luo Xiujuan opened her mouth hesitantly, her back instinctively pressed against the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed) out of fear, not quite understanding what he meant.

Qin Zheng scoffed, "My wife was perfectly fine when I left, but when I came back, she looked terrible. Has nothing to do with you and your daughter?"

Is this it?

Luo Xiujuan suddenly realized what was happening and was about to explain to Qin Zheng when she remembered that Ye Yun's emotions had indeed changed because of her. A hint of unease appeared on her face. "I... I told the girl about my background..."

"What's your background?"

"..."

Luo Xiujuan glanced cautiously at Qin Zheng's gloomy face, then quickly lowered her head, pursed her lips, and repeated every word she had just said to Ye Yun.

Qin Zheng, after listening: "..."

I want to curse.

Why did he have to pick someone with such a bad background, someone as unlucky as his mother-in-law?

Qin Zheng's sharp gaze remained fixed on Luo Xiujuan, making her scalp tingle and her forehead break out in a cold sweat.

Finally, Qin Zheng, in a fit of kindness, spoke up.

“Don’t be afraid, my wife is willing to take you in, and I won’t make things difficult for you,” he said, his eyes hardening. “But you’d better not mention your damn child’s father in front of my wife again, she doesn’t like hearing it.”

After saying that, he turned and left.

Luo Xiujuan looked up in astonishment, staring blankly at Qin Zheng's retreating figure as he strode away from the house.

She quickly realized why Qin Zheng had come; he had noticed Ye Yun's unhappiness and had come to find out why.

Luo Xiujuan couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

She thought Qin Zheng was going to kick her and her son out. Her son was still sick, and if they were kicked out, she really didn't know where to take him.

Luo Xiujuan looked out the window and saw the tall man who had already stepped outside.

From her angle, she could see the man's profile. Unlike his gloomy expression when looking down at the mother and son, the man's expression softened upon seeing his wife. A gentle smile spread across his handsome face, and he naturally pulled the woman into his arms, whispering intimate words in her ear.

Luo Xiujuan couldn't help but sigh, a faint hint of envy rising in her eyes.

This is a man who dotes on his wife.

Their relationship is so good, it's really rare.

...

When Qin Xiang'e returned home after selling mung bean cakes at noon, she found two extra people in her house.

As soon as she entered the house, she saw that Ye Yun's window was wide open. Through the window, she saw a stranger sitting on the edge of the kang (a heated brick bed), and couldn't help but ask Ye Yun.

Ye Yun simply said in a low voice, "The beggar fainted at our door."

When Aunt Tian saw Qin Xiang'e return, she followed her into the house with a smile, carrying a plate of sweet buns.

"Zhengzi's wife, have a taste, I just steamed these." Aunt Tian went straight to Ye Yun as soon as she entered the door, grabbed a sugar bun and stuffed it into Ye Yun's hand, smiling broadly: "The previous pot only had steamed buns, no sugar buns. I was thinking, what good things haven't you eaten? Why would you still crave white flour steamed buns? So I specially steamed some sugar buns. Be careful, they're hot!"

She was afraid Ye Yun wouldn't believe her, and also afraid Ye Yun wouldn't eat it, so she specially broke open the candy packet to show her.
