The lively crowd joked among themselves, having come specifically to watch the show; they certainly didn't want to see any scenes of maternal love and filial piety, because what was the point of such a peaceful scene?
It's more interesting when the scene looks like they're about to start fighting!
All eyes fell on Li Xiuying, filled with disdain, ridicule, and contempt, as if knives were peeling off her face.
No matter how thick-skinned she was, she couldn't withstand it at this moment, and turned around and went home in a fit of anger and embarrassment.
This time, however, she wasn't angry with Qin Zheng and Ye Yun, but rather resented those who were just watching the drama unfold.
She felt that Qin Zheng still had some maternal affection for her; if it weren't for their teasing, Qin Zheng might have let her into his home.
"Old Guo's family, your son is too heartless. After all, he's your son."
Before Li Xiuying had taken more than a few steps, someone grabbed her and spoke to her with righteous indignation.
Before Li Xiuying could even react with surprise, another woman appeared beside her, equally indignant, saying, "Now that his wife has given birth, he naturally knows how hard it is to have a child. No matter how badly you behaved before, he can't let you go so far as to not even be able to drink a cup of brown sugar water for your own granddaughter!"
"Exactly! I think his heart has been completely stolen by that little wife, Ye Yun!"
Several women in their forties gathered around Li Xiuying, each chiming in with their own opinions, all with expressions of indignation on Li Xiuying's behalf.
Li Xiuying frowned, looking at them with a puzzled expression.
Seeing the angry expressions on the faces of the women, as if Ye Yun and Qin Zheng had angered them greatly, she blurted out, "What have my son and daughter-in-law done to offend you?"
"What?"
None of them expected her to ask that question so suddenly, and they were all taken aback.
Li Xiuying abruptly shook off the hand that was grabbing her arm, her face contorted with rage as she yelled, "My wife hasn't offended you at all! Why are you always talking bad about her in front of me? What do you want to do?!"
What?
When everyone saw Li Xiuying's protective expression, they were all surprised. It was as if the sun had risen in the west. Li Xiuying would actually protect Ye Yun.
Has she forgotten that she got into a fight with Ye Yun on the second day of her marriage?
The women realized something was wrong, exchanged glances, and stopped talking. They all withdrew their hands that were about to cause trouble and retreated back into the crowd with embarrassed expressions.
"You're so protective of her, do you think she'll even acknowledge you as her mother?"
The woman who was pushed away snorted and said with a sneer, "Li Xiuying, you're such a fool! Your son has been so seduced by that little wife Ye Yun that he can't even see the green hat on his head. You're just as stupid as your son!"
Li Xiuying's face turned cold. "What did you say?!"
Seeing her like this, the woman who had been pushed away raised her chin and said in a louder voice, "I have a relative who works at the county health center, and she told me that your daughter-in-law's child doesn't look like your son at all! And he looks chubby and healthy, not at all like a premature baby!"
She clapped her hands, giving Li Xiuying no chance to refute, and her voice grew louder and louder:
"Don't you understand what this means? It means your granddaughter isn't your son's! Your wife already had a bastard child when she married him, and your son is a sucker!"
"You're talking nonsense!"
Li Xiuying shoved the basket in her hand into the arms of the person next to her, and, enraged, rolled up her sleeves and rushed towards the woman!
thump!
She was like a mad calf, knocking the other person to the ground!
The other person was lying on the ground clutching their stomach and howling. Li Xiuying jumped on top of them with lightning speed, grabbed their hair, and started slapping them hard across the face!
"I'll teach you to talk nonsense!"
"Don't talk nonsense!"
The sound of slapping rang out. Li Xiuying was a notoriously shrew, and she never hesitated to strike.
This woman was really unlucky.
Li Xiuying was already seething with anger because Qin Zheng had rejected her. If someone were to provoke Li Xiuying now, wouldn't that be like walking into the line of fire?
The other person tried to struggle, but Li Xiuying sat down on her with her big buttocks, and she couldn't push her away no matter how hard she tried.
Li Xiuying grabbed her hair with deadly force, pulling her scalp painfully with every movement, making her unable to cry out. She screamed in agony as she was beaten!
The people around them started to jeer.
"Beat her! Beat her to death! Let her keep spouting nonsense!"
"Exactly! What did Qin Zheng and Ye Yun do to deserve this cuckoldry? She's so vicious!"
"Li Xiuying, you've finally done something decent!"
The woman got angry and grabbed Li Xiuying's hair, spun her around, and pushed her to the ground. The two of them started slapping each other!
The noisy heatwave grew louder and louder, piercing through the winter winds and echoing through the valleys.
The sound of slaps grew louder and louder.
People love watching this kind of drama; as long as they can stay out of it and not get burned, they're fine.
The noise and shouting naturally reached the courtyard. The old lady at the entrance of the main room heard the commotion, tilted her head, and, leaning on her cane, tried to get up to see what was going on.
But her eyesight isn't good.
Her eyes, blinded by crying, weren't completely blind, but everything was blurry. Even in broad daylight, she could only see a grayish-white expanse with a few indistinct figures.
When the dog in the yard walked up to her, she could only see a faint black object.
Aunt Tian came out of the main room and saw the old lady groping her way towards the door. She was startled and quickly put down what she was holding and ran over to support the old lady's arm, saying, "My dear aunt, where are you rushing off to?"
