Qin Zheng remained silent for two seconds.
He held the towel in his hand, but stopped wiping his sweat. He seemed lost in thought, staring motionlessly at the ground, a few strands of hair falling down, highlighting his deep, inky expression.
"Qin Zheng?"
Liu Xiaoyun was unsure of his thoughts, so she carefully observed his expression and gently tried to wake him up.
Qin Zheng was not distracted; he lifted his eyelids and glanced at her indifferently.
Since he was there to help them, Qin Zheng couldn't afford to give Liu Xiaoyun a hard time, and said calmly, "I understand, thank you."
Liu Xiaoyun was slightly taken aback.
Seemingly flattered, she opened her mouth, but after several seconds, she managed to stammer out, "N-no, it's okay."
Qin Zheng: "..."
Did he say sorry?
"Hey, you take Teacher Liu back," Qin Zheng instructed, waving to the young man in the security room.
The young man immediately ran out.
Seeing that Qin Zheng was about to see her off, Liu Xiaoyun couldn't help but ask, "Where's Ye Yun? Wasn't she with you the whole time?"
Qin Zheng glanced at her and said, "I'm going out."
"Where did you go?" Liu Xiaoyun asked. "Why weren't you with her? Do you know what Ye Xue's plan is? She said she's going to take Ye Yun away while you're not around, sell her into the mountains so she can't escape and you can't find her!"
"Qin Zheng, you should know that some mountainous areas have backward thinking and no legal awareness at all. If Ye Yun is really sold, even if you find her, you can't save her!"
Qin Zheng: "..."
That's the theory, but it just sounds unusually harsh.
Seeing Qin Zheng's face grow increasingly grim, Liu Xiaoyun realized she had misspoke and quickly said, "You, you don't need to overthink it. I didn't mean to curse Ye Yun. I was just reminding you..."
"I know."
Qin Zheng responded to her words indifferently, and winked at the security guard, signaling her to send the person away.
The young man was perceptive enough that, regardless of whether Liu Xiaoyun wanted to go back or not, he gestured for her to leave and said, "Comrade Liu, let me take you back."
Liu Xiaoyun wanted to say something more.
Looking at Qin Zheng's aloof expression, she pursed her lips and swallowed back the words she wanted to say.
Ultimately, she came with ulterior motives.
Ye Xue came to see her last night, but she naturally refused. As proud as she was, she disdained to do things like murder for money.
The reason I took Ye Yun's school registration was because I felt that since Ye Yun was going to get married anyway, such an excellent school registration should not be hidden. Wouldn't it be perfect to use it for her?
When Ye Xue saw that she wouldn't agree, she threatened to report her if she didn't comply.
She remained unmoved.
Anyway, enough people already know. She can't hide it forever. If they want to report her, let them. She's had enough of living in fear anyway.
One by one, they're threatening her, treating her like a pushover, aren't they?
If only Ye Yun knew, Liu Xiaoyun could still try to appease her. Even though she was exhausted, Ye Yun was the only one who made things difficult for her.
But now there's another Ye Xue.
She can handle Ye Yun, and she can handle Ye Xue, but what about the future?
As more and more people find out, one after another, does she have to deal with each and every one of them? Does everyone have a handle to use against her?
She finds the thought terrifying and exhausting.
Since this is an inescapable fate, she might as well open it up and let anyone who wants to report her do so!
Unexpectedly, it was her "what's the use" attitude that left Ye Xue at a loss.
Perhaps because she was still young, Ye Xue didn't think much of things. Seeing that she couldn't persuade her and didn't know what to do next, she cursed her for being spineless and ran away in a huff.
After seeing Ye Xue off, many malicious thoughts involuntarily surfaced in her mind.
She wondered if she would just watch Ye Yun disappear without intervening, would that relieve her sense of crisis?
As long as Ye Yun disappears, the sword hanging over her neck will also disappear.
This thought has been haunting her, tormenting her, and kept her from sleeping well last night.
Because, along with this thought came her conscience.
By forcibly taking Ye Yun's student status, she had already wronged Ye Yun. Even without this connection, Ye Yun was still a vibrant life. She was an educator, how could she just stand by and watch a woman be pushed into a fire pit?
On one side is the future, on the other is conscience.
In this dire situation, she finally fell asleep as dawn broke.
Even in her sleep, she couldn't find peace. After waking up, she continued to struggle with her thoughts, and became more absent-minded at work.
By noon, she finally couldn't resist running out of the school to find Qin Zheng and Ye Yun.
If she didn't come and tell Qin Zheng and Ye Yun, she thought her conscience would continue to wail with unease.
Secondly...
This matter concerns Ye Yun's life. If she takes the initiative to tell Qin Zheng and Ye Yun about it, will she be able to do them a favor?
Because of this favor, could Ye Yun make an exception for her regarding her student status?
She harbored this selfish motive.
This selfish motive even outweighed her guilty conscience.
You could say that's exactly why she came here.
But at this moment, looking at Qin Zheng's indifferent expression, she couldn't utter a single word.
After a long while, she could only nod to Qin Zheng, turn around and walk towards the school, her steps lighter than when she came.
...
Department store.
The department stores in the provincial capital are quite different from those in the county; they offer a wide variety of goods that can be overwhelming.
After browsing for only a short while, Ye Yun couldn't resist buying quite a few things.
