Erdanzi could hardly believe his ears. He stared at his mother in shock, his mouth agape, wide enough to fit an egg.
His mother gave him a puzzled look. "Are you deaf at such a young age? Or am I so old that I can't even speak clearly anymore? I was saying that the girl from Maolou was going to marry a man who ran away. Her in-laws think she's not capable of keeping him, so they won't break off the engagement. They're just keeping her hanging on like this. They've really delayed her!"
This time, Erdanzi finally heard clearly.
Thinking of the figure he had just seen at the gate, he excitedly shoved the cloth bag in his hand into his mother's hands, turned around, unlocked the door, and hurriedly ran outside without looking back.
