Chapter 271 Lend a Hand

Chapter 271 Lend a Hand

This is a super popular Honda, a foreign brand!

It's all imported!

A brand I see all the time on TV!

He dreams of touching it, of sitting inside and going around in it, even for just a minute!

Now, the car is truly parked in front of him, and it was his older brother who drove it back!

"Brother! You're finally back! You have no idea how much I've missed you, I even cried secretly under the covers at night!"

Suddenly, Zhou Jianguo rushed forward, opened his arms, and hugged Zhou Dajun tightly as if he were grasping at a lifeline. He held on tightly and refused to let go no matter what. He shouted at the top of his lungs, as if afraid that others would not hear his "brotherly love," "Big brother! It's good that you're alive! It's good that you're alive! God has eyes! Our Zhou family finally has hope!"

Song Yu'an stood to the side, watching coldly, his lips slightly pursed, his eyes filled with mockery.

She left home two weeks ago, and her son didn't even call or say a word of greeting.

Now, as soon as he sees the car, he immediately changes his tune, hugging the person and crying as if it were real.

What's the point?

Anyone with eyes can see that they're after this car and the potential benefits it might bring.

She didn't say anything, but gently patted the back of Shen Cuifen's hand, signaling her not to be afraid.

Didn't Xiaoshui always want to be a daughter-in-law of the Zhou family?

Let her do what she wants, let her see for herself what kind of people the Zhou family really are.

Now that the brothers have recognized each other, it's no longer appropriate for Xiao Shui to hide in the car.

Song Yu'an opened the car door and walked over slowly, her high heels making a crisp sound on the cement floor.

She walked up to Zhou Jianguo, her gaze sweeping lightly over his exaggeratedly excited face. A meaningful smile appeared on her lips as she softly said, "Oh my, Bian Jiang, your brother is just like you. You're practically identical, even your eyebrows are the same."

Zhou Jianguo was stunned, his face full of confusion, and he didn't understand what she was talking about at all.

Bianjiang?

Who is Bian Jiang?

He was about to ask when Zhou Dajun turned slightly to the side, lowered his voice, and explained gently, "During the time I lost my memory, she stayed with me... helped me regain my memory, and took care of me. Without her, I might still be drifting outside."

He spoke very softly, as he had not intended to say it in public.

Every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a hint of hesitation and tentativeness.

After he finished speaking, he quietly raised his eyes and quickly glanced at Shen Cuifen's expression, afraid that she had heard him, yet also afraid that she hadn't.

Shen Cuifen turned around just then, and her gaze met his. The moment their eyes met, the air seemed to freeze.

She frowned slightly and pursed her lips gently, as if suppressing some emotion, then immediately turned her face away and refused to look at him anymore.

She didn't question him or make a scene in public. In a crowded and noisy setting, she chose to remain silent, which was more than enough.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Shuixian's face changed drastically, and her voice suddenly exploded, almost drowning out all the other noise: "My God! Bigamy! That's illegal! It's a crime! You'll go to jail! Do you know how serious the consequences are?"

She stood with her hands on her hips, her eyes wide, her face filled with shock and anger.

Xiao Shui panicked. Her heart pounded, her face turned pale, and she looked at Song Yu'an with pleading eyes, hoping that she would step forward and say something to smooth things over for her, even if it was just a casual diversion.

But Song Yu'an didn't even glance at her, as if her existence had been completely ignored.

She lowered her head and focused intently on smoothing out the wrinkles on Shen Cuifen's clothes, her movements gentle and meticulous, as if she were handling a precious piece of porcelain.

Her expression was calm, with even a faint smile on her lips, as if she hadn't heard a thing about the farce that had just happened.

Zhou Jianguo immediately jumped up, his face flushed red, and roared with wide eyes, "What nonsense are you spouting? Are you deaf? Didn't you hear me? My brother has amnesia! He can't remember anything! What marriage stuff? If anyone dares to gossip and spread rumors, I'll never forgive them!"

His voice was like a thunderclap, causing those around him to back away.

Who in the village doesn't know that Zhou Jianguo is a troublemaker?

He has a fiery temper and acts faster than he talks; no one dares to provoke him easily.

At this moment, everyone shut their mouths, their eyes fixed on the car parked at the village entrance. No one dared to talk back, and they didn't even dare to breathe loudly.

Seeing the situation become tense, Li Laolu quickly stepped in to smooth things over. With a smile plastered on his face, revealing a row of yellow teeth, he said with a grin, "Dajun, you've really made something of yourself! Now you're even driving a four-wheeled vehicle! Look at that style, more impressive than those cadres in town!"

As he spoke, he leaned closer, his face beaming with smiles.

"Where are you working now? You seem to be doing so well. Xiaolong from our village, we grew up together like kids, but now he's just farming at home with no future. If it's convenient for you later, could you give him a hand? It would be a way to help out our fellow villagers!"

He spoke with great enthusiasm, his tone full of anticipation.

Zhou Dajun couldn't answer a single question.

His lips moved, but no sound came out; his eyes were vacant, as if he were lost in some distant memory.

He kept his head down, silent, and followed the path pointed out by his younger brother Zhou Jianguo, slowly and heavily moving into the car step by step.

The car door slammed shut, the car slowly started moving, its tires rolling over the mud, kicking up a cloud of dust, and finally drove away from the crowd of onlookers.

Song Yu'an and Shen Cuifen had just reached the car and hadn't even had a chance to sit down when Zhou Jianguo shouted anxiously from behind, his voice trembling: "Brother, drive quickly! If we don't leave now, these villagers might really pounce on your wife and bite her! They're unreasonable!"

He shouted as he pounded on the roof of the car.

Xiao Shui glanced in the rearview mirror and saw a group of people still gathered around, craning their necks to look and whispering amongst themselves. Terrified, she shrank back in her seat, her body pressed tightly against the backrest, and said in a trembling voice, "Da Jun, I'm scared... I'm really scared... They look like they're going to eat me alive..."

Her fingers gripped the seatbelt so tightly that her fingertips turned white.

Zhou Dajun's heart tightened suddenly at the commotion, as if something was pressing down on his chest, and his breathing became rapid.

He instinctively slammed on the gas pedal, and the car shot off like a wild horse, bursting through the crowd and speeding along the dirt road before finally coming to a screeching halt on the small road behind the Zhou family's house.

Zhou Jianguo ran ahead with a grin, leading the way with light steps, as if he had accomplished something important.

He pounded on the old wooden door of the Zhou family's house, shouting, "Brother, come in quickly! This is your home! Do you remember? This is where you grew up!"

His voice echoed in the empty courtyard.

Xiao Shui clung tightly to Zhou Dajun like an octopus, her arms wrapped tightly around his, as if afraid that if she let go, someone would snatch her away.

Her legs were so weak she could barely stand. Her toes barely touched the muddy ground, and even a clump of chicken droppings on the ground startled her so much that she jumped away.
