Chapter 26 Pleading for Mercy
"What exactly happened?"
As Lu Xiuwei asked the question, she patted Lu Xiuye on the back.
The blow wasn't heavy, but it clearly carried a sense of dissatisfaction.
"How could you secretly go out with outsiders? And to a place like Jinmantang!"
She could not hear very clearly.
But I roughly understand now.
That place called Jinmantang is definitely not a good place.
Otherwise, things wouldn't have escalated to this point.
Lu Xiuye's eyes reddened, her heart ached, and she had countless things she wanted to say.
But she choked up and couldn't utter a single word.
She didn't know how to start the conversation for a moment.
Lu Xiuwei glared at her fiercely, her eyes filled with both reproach and heartache.
Without hesitation, she pulled her younger sister behind her to protect her, while bending down to pick up Qu Dong's glasses that were scattered on the ground.
Then, following in Shen Cuifen's footsteps, I carefully went down.
They all knew Shen Cuifen's temper.
In case she really throws a tantrum later, it would be good to stand by and say a few words of support, and plead for Qu Dong.
Lu Xiuwei secretly pondered how to persuade her to stop.
After getting off the bus, Shen Cuifen's face turned cold. She grabbed Qu Dong's arm and slipped into a nearly deserted alley.
It was a remote place, surrounded by high walls.
Not a ray of sunlight could penetrate, creating a somewhat oppressive atmosphere.
Sisters Lu Xiuwei and Lu Xiuye exchanged a glance, knowing that this matter was not over yet, and quickly followed behind into the alley.
Finally, we arrived at that dead-end alley.
Shen Cuifen stopped and suddenly pulled Qu Dong to the end before letting go of his arm.
She was quite strong, and Qu Dong was thrown back and staggered a few steps before he regained his balance.
Qu Dong stood there and shook his slightly numb fingers, then rubbed his wrist, which had been gripped so hard.
I felt a little scared, but I remained relatively calm.
Fortunately, no bones were broken.
"Excuse me, could you please get my glasses back?"
Although Qu Dong was very afraid of Shen Cuifen, he still couldn't help but ask for help.
He couldn't bear to part with his glasses.
"I didn't mean anything by it, I just wanted to see it more clearly."
Lu Xiuwei frowned upon hearing this, took out the glasses she had just picked up from her pocket and handed them to Qu Dong, while coldly warning, "Who's your older sister? Don't you dare call me that! Otherwise, I'll have my mom deal with you!"
After saying that, he deliberately puffed out his chest.
Qu Dong shrank back in fright and swallowed hard.
He never expected that Lu Xiuye, who usually seemed quiet, sensible, well-behaved, and gentle, would have such a fierce older sister who could leave him speechless with just a few words.
"Lu Xiuye!"
Shen Cuifen suddenly turned around and stared at Lu Xiuye, who was hiding behind Lu Xiuwei, and said sternly, "Tell me, was it this brat who took you to Jinmantang?"
If she nods in agreement, Shen Cuifen will definitely not let that boy named Qu Dong go.
We'll beat him until even his parents won't recognize him.
“Auntie, my name is Qu Dong… I’m not some scoundrel.”
Seeing that the other party did not believe his identity at all, Qu Dong quickly explained and added.
“I am Lu Xiuye’s classmate, and we are really just ordinary friends.”
Shen Cuifen glanced at him.
"We really were in the same grade, but my family couldn't afford to send me to school, so I didn't go. Besides, I didn't take her to Jinmantang; she came to me and begged me to go!"
Qu Dong's tone also carried a hint of dissatisfaction, and his expression clearly revealed a sense of grievance.
His fingers unconsciously clenched the hem of his clothes, his heart filled with resentment.
Little did I know that this would turn into a huge problem!
He meant well and wanted to help her out, but he didn't expect it to end up with such a bad result.
Instead, he was inexplicably beaten up.
What did you say?
Shen Cuifen suddenly raised her voice.
These words startled Qu Dong, who was standing next to him, causing him to tremble slightly and turn pale.
I thought Shen Cuifen was going to hit someone.
The glasses in his hand almost slipped and fell to the ground, making a crisp shattering sound.
“Mom! I went to find Qu Dong,” Lu Xiuye suddenly pushed aside her sister Lu Xiuwei’s hand that was blocking her way, stood up and said firmly, “I begged him repeatedly before he agreed to take me to Jinmantang.”
Shen Cuifen was stunned for a moment. Before she could even sort out her thoughts, her anger had already erupted.
The next moment, she flung her hand out without hesitation.
A crisp "snap!" rang out in my ears.
Lu Xiuye's face was slapped to the side, and five finger marks instantly appeared on her cheek.
Shen Cuifen had just raised her other hand, preparing to continue slapping.
But her gaze fell on the tears welling up in her daughter's eyes and her already swollen and red cheek.
The raised hand hesitated.
Ultimately, he couldn't bring himself to do it, and instead, filled with anger, he slapped himself hard several times.
"I'm so damn stupid!"
She murmured softly.
"It's all my fault!"
Only then did she finally understand.
The real problem has always existed from the beginning.
She used to care too much about her three sons and her husband Lu Weidong's feelings.
However, they completely overlooked the existence of Lu Xiuye, their youngest daughter.
They never even thought about where their daughter went or what she went through.
I always thought that she only started traveling far away after Lu Weidong passed away.
Her action stunned all three people present, leaving them speechless for a moment.
After a few seconds of silence, Lu Xiuwei was the first to react and quickly supported her mother.
Lu Xiuye also hurriedly stepped forward.
"Mom, it's all my fault! Please don't hit yourself..."
Tears streamed down her face as Lu Xiuye choked out.
"If you're really angry, then come and hit me. It's all my fault..."
Tears streamed down Lu Xiuye's face, dripping onto her clothes.
"Yes, Mom, don't hit yourself. It makes us all feel bad."
Lu Xiuwei quickly stepped forward, took her mother's arm, and whispered words of persuasion.
Lu Xiuwei also chimed in, "Mom, calm down first. Let's talk things out slowly."
Her tone was pleading.
“If you really hurt yourself, we children will feel terrible.”
Shen Cuifen let out a long breath, her hands clenched into fists so tightly that her nails almost dug into her palms.
She slowly raised her head, her gaze sharp as she looked at Lu Xiuye.
His eyes held both anger and deep reproach.
"Xiuye, tell Mom the truth, what were you thinking? How could you go to a place like that!"
Lu Xiuye bit her lip, her face was frighteningly pale, and she didn't say a word.
The corner of my mouth was slightly cut from biting it so hard.
Tears silently slid down her cheeks.
Seeing that Shen Cuifen was about to lose her temper, anger was already showing on her face, and her breathing became heavy.
Lu Xiuwei quickly touched Lu Xiuye's wrist gently, signaling her to explain.
