Chapter 40 In his desperation, he spoke without thinking.

“Actually, my sister-in-law’s parents also live in the military compound,” Mo Xi sighed. “If they hadn’t severed ties with my sister-in-law, I definitely would have gone to visit them.”

"Sever ties?" Dingxiang asked in surprise. "Why?"

"I can't go on like this, it's a long story." Mo Xi waved his hand. "Aunt Ding, you should drive now."

Dingxiang's car wound its way through the streets and alleys before finally stopping, where they had to have their identities checked by the security guard.

After identity verification, you still need to wait for confirmation.

The security guard made a phone call.

They listened intently, but couldn't catch the specific address. Judging from the gatekeeper's respectful manner, they concluded that the person in question held a high-ranking official position.

Moxi is a country girl who has never seen the world, while Li Yuehua and Dingxiang are worldly people. The people who can live here are all extraordinary.

The security guard allowed her to pass after making the phone call, and told Dingxiang to go straight in for 100 meters, then turn right for 50 meters, and the second building would be there.

A middle-aged couple was waiting by the roadside; they had seen them from their car.

Dingxiang stopped the car in front of the middle-aged couple.

Li Yuehua stuck her head out of the car window. "Excuse me, is this Jiang Yi's house?"

"What do you want with my son?"

With the sound, a beam of light, like starlight, shot over.

That gaze is so sharp.

Ding Xiang and Li Yuehua trembled.

Li Yuehua had originally intended to get to know this family, but she immediately abandoned the idea and pointed to Xiao Moxi in the back seat of the car, saying, "Oh, it's not me looking for your son, it's her looking for your son."

Moxi was hoping her two aunts would give her courage. She had heard from her sister-in-law that Jiang Yi's mother was a doctor, the kind of doctor who wields a scalpel. So, she had just felt that Jiang Yi's mother's sharp, scalpel-like eyes were a bit scary.

“Moxi, go ahead, we’ll wait for you in the car.” Li Yuehua turned around.

"Oh." Moxi took a deep breath, then opened the car door and got out in one go.

When Jiang's mother saw that the dress Moxi was wearing looked familiar, she realized it was a gift she had bought for Xiaonuan the year Xiaonuan went to work as an educated youth. She also recognized Moxi's bag as a gift that Jiang's mother had bought for Xiaonuan.

Jiang's mother rushed forward excitedly, pointing at Moxi's dress and bag. "Where did you get your dress and bag?"

My sister-in-law gave it to me.

"Xiao...Xiao...Xiao Nuan is your sister-in-law?" Jiang's mother was so excited that she couldn't speak coherently.

Mr. Jiang stepped forward and said to Mrs. Jiang, who was somewhat flustered, "Please invite our guest inside to talk!"

Jiang's mother invited Moxi into the gate, which was a detached two-story building.

Moxi seemed a little awkward, unsure of what to do with his hands and feet, and only sat halfway on the chair.

She was prepared to run away at any moment, her eyes darting around. As soon as she saw Jiang Yi appear, she would immediately pull him aside, tell him what was going on, and then run away.

"Are you looking for Jiang Yi?" Jiang's mother poured a cup of tea and handed it to Mo Xi.

"Thank you!" Mo Xi held the teacup in her hands, but her hands were trembling so badly that she had to put it back on the tea table. "Is Jiang Yi not here?"

"If you have anything to say, you can tell us." Jiang's mother looked Moxi up and down, and then back up again. She thought to herself, "This girl claims to be Xiao Nuan's aunt. Is she here to see Jiang Yi because she's also that bad boy's flirtatious girlfriend?"

Jiang's mother was very worried.

"No, this can only be discussed with Jiang Yi."

Mr. Jiang and Mrs. Jiang exchanged a glance.

"Did Jiang Yi provoke you in Xiaolong Village this time?" Jiang's mother asked cautiously.

"Oh no, what are you thinking?" Mo Xi, now in a hurry, was no longer timid. "Quickly call Jiang Yi out, I really have something very important to tell him."

Mr. Jiang and Mrs. Jiang nodded to each other again.

"It's a pity you're too late, little girl," Jiang's mother said leisurely. "You don't have to pursue your boyfriend like this, do you? He's already been called away by his girlfriend."

"What?" Mo Xi could no longer sit still and exclaimed as she stood up. "Did Lan Yin call him away?"

"Since you know Lan Yin is his girlfriend, why did you still come after her?"

"I told you, I have nothing to do with Jiang Yi. He's my sister-in-law's ex-boyfriend. How could I have any messy relationship with him?" Mo Xi blurted out in her anxiety. "What's so great about Jiang Yi? I would never like this kind of cute but tasteless guy. I don't care."

"Ha, what a big mouth." Jiang's mother laughed. Her charming son was finally being rejected by someone. This had never happened before. Girls used to chase after her son.

"You can still laugh? When something really happens to your son, I'm afraid you won't even have time to cry." Mo Xi rolled her eyes at Jiang's mother, annoyed.

"Son, sit down and tell me slowly!" Mr. Jiang gestured.

"That's all for now. You all need to go and find Jiang Yi right away. Someone is trying to harm him."

"How can we believe you if you don't explain yourself clearly?" Jiang's mother stared at her with sharp eyes again.

"You don't trust people at all, fine, I'll tell you. Don't regret wasting your time." Mo Xi recounted in one breath how Lan Yin had plotted to harm her brother and Su Xiaonuan, and how she was about to harm Jiang Yi.

Before the stunned Jiang family elders could react, she picked up the water on the table, tilted her head back, drank it all in one gulp, and waved to leave.

"Wait!" Jiang's mother finally snapped out of her daze.

"I've said all I need to say. I'm done here. I can go back and report to my sister-in-law and Aunt Hua. You two can go find Jiang Yi yourselves. Hopefully, he hasn't fallen into Lan Yin's trap yet, or your family will be in trouble."

Mr. Jiang shrugged. "Where are we supposed to find him? School's out for break, isn't it? Where does Lan Yin live?"

Hearing this, Moxi, who was about to leave, turned around.

"Do you know where Lan Yin lives?" Jiang's mother looked at her expectantly.

“I actually know where she lives.” Mersey nodded. “She and her mother live at the Xinhua Guesthouse near the station. Why don’t you try your luck there?”

"Wait!" Jiang's mother called out to her when she saw that she was about to leave again after speaking.

"Is there anything else?" Mersey asked.

"Excuse me, what's your name?"

"Xiao Moxi".

"Moshi, come with us to the Xinhua Guesthouse."

"No way!" Mo Ran refused outright. "Lan Yin and our family are like oil and water, and you still want me to go? Do you want her to turn around and kill our whole family? If it weren't for my sister-in-law and Aunt Hua asking me to come, I wouldn't have bothered to come all the way to the provincial capital."

After saying that, he ran out in a flash.

"Forget it, let's go find that brat ourselves!" Mr. Jiang shook his head.

Murphy angrily opened the car door and got in. "Aunt Ding, drive!"

"What? Were you bullied?" Li Yuehua tilted her head and looked at her.

"It's not that I was bullied, it's that they don't trust me. I had to talk myself hoarse to finish explaining everything. Honestly, I told them to find their son right away, but they wouldn't listen. They insisted that I explain why."

"Jiang Yi isn't home?"

"That nasty woman called me away. Never mind, I delivered the message. It was his parents who caused the delay. If anything happens, it's not my fault. It's infuriating. I have to get to the bottom of this."
