"Li Chunxiang, shut up!" Lan Guangxue glared at the loud woman.
"I won't shut up," Li Chunxiang yelled. "Didn't you say before that you'd divorce me for five thousand? Later, you even came to Yinzi and said you'd agree to divorce her for two thousand. Why are you asking for such an exorbitant amount now?"
"That was then," Lan Guangxue said resentfully, his sore spot touched. "Back then, if you had agreed to give me five thousand, Xiuhua wouldn't have left me. Now, the person I love has married someone else, and I've done so much for you. You've received enough. I only need a little bit, and you still can't bear to part with it?"
"You deserve it!" Li Chunxiang pointed at him gleefully.
Lan Guangxue reached out to hit her, but Lan Yin stopped him. "Stop!"
After speaking, he pointed to the chair opposite him, indicating that Lan Guangxue should sit down.
Lan Guangxue lowered his raised hand, sat down obediently in the chair opposite her, and looked at Lan Yin expectantly. "Yinzi, do you agree to give me 50,000?"
“Okay, here’s fifty thousand.” Lan Yin nodded slightly. “Come with me to collect the money at ten o’clock tomorrow morning.”
"Okay, I'll come again tomorrow." Lan Guangxue immediately stood up; he didn't want to stay there for even a minute longer.
As soon as the door closed, Li Chunxiang began to complain. "How could you agree to that? Fifty thousand! What will he do with so much money? He'll just spend it on those other women. I'd rather die than give him that much money."
Lan Yin made a shushing gesture, got up and walked silently to the door. Suddenly, she opened the door, almost causing Lan Guangxue, who was eavesdropping outside, to pounce in.
Caught eavesdropping, Lan Guangxue pointed inside. "I'm back to get my pipe."
After Lan Guangxue took his pipe, Lan Yin stood at the door, one hand on the door frame. Even after Lan Guangxue came down the stairs, she was still worried and ran to the balcony to make sure Lan Guangxue had really left before returning to the hall.
Seeing her daughter sit down, Li Chunxiang sat down next to her. "Are you really going to take him to get the money tomorrow? I don't even know where you keep the money. What if he finds out? Will your money still be safe?"
"Mom, how about we cause him to have an accident?" Lan Yin stared intently at Li Chunxiang's face, carefully observing every detail. After a while, seeing no objection whatsoever, she boldly voiced her idea. "Take him to the edge of a cliff and push him off. Otherwise, he'll be a bottomless pit, haunting us for the rest of his life."
"Okay, Mom will listen to you." Li Chunxiang agreed without even blinking.
After some discussion, the mother and daughter, Lan Yin, wrote a suicide note using a pen imitating Lan Guangxue's style. The note stated that she couldn't bear the thought of her lover marrying someone else, which was why she committed suicide.
......
Life has returned to normal.
Xiao Moran was busy with his business, and Su Xiaonuan was busy with hers; some went to work, and some went to school.
After dropping the children off, Su Ming drove to the park to play chess with his friends.
Ye Mei, Zhang Yulan, and Aunt Chen went shopping.
They say three women make a drama, and ever since these three women started getting together every day, they've had so many activities. Zhang Yulan, who used to dislike going out, has started going out with them to broaden her horizons.
All that was left was Xie Zhi. When they left, they were afraid that Xie Zhi would come into the house and cause trouble, so they closed all the doors and windows and only let him move around in the yard and outhouse. They also took the snacks and water to Xie Zhi's room.
As soon as they left, Xie Zhi changed his clothes, climbed through the window, took some money from Xiao Moran, wrote an IOU and put it in his bag. The cotton coat Xiao Moran bought for him had a hood. He then went to the drying line in the yard and took a scarf. It was Su Ming's scarf, which fit him perfectly. He covered himself up completely and went out.
Many people in this neighborhood know him, and if he didn't dress like this, he would be spotted very quickly. He was hiding downstairs at Li Chunxiang's house. First, he saw Li Chunxiang go out with a vegetable basket. A little while later, Lan Yin also came downstairs with a bag, followed by Lan Guangxue, who was also carrying a large bag.
He thought the woman would drive off, but she just glanced at her car and walked away without looking back.
Xie Zhi thought to himself, "This woman is incredibly lazy. She always drives to buy things outside the neighborhood, but she's not driving today. And what is Lan Guangxue trying to do with that big empty bag?"
Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind: Could they be withdrawing money?
Xie Zhi knew that a woman as smart as Lan Yin would never deposit those dirty money in a bank; she would only keep it in a relatively safe place and retrieve some when needed.
So he went out with them.
Lan Yin and Xie Zhi each boarded a rickshaw.
Xie Zhi also hailed a rickshaw and followed them.
Midway through the journey, Lan Yin and Xie Zhi got off the bus one after the other, then walked several hundred meters to the left, before hailing a rickshaw by the roadside. The father and daughter maintained a certain distance throughout, just like strangers.
This further convinced Xie Zhi that they had gone to withdraw money.
He followed them like a tail, walking with them and changing vehicles as they went. After several rounds of this, they finally arrived at Diecui Peak, the most remote spot in the western suburbs, where the father and daughter were finally together.
There was no one around, so he didn't dare follow too closely and could only follow at a distance, afraid of being discovered.
However, he wondered if Lan Yin, a frail woman, would keep her money on the mountain.
Lan Guangxue had the same question, and he asked as he walked, "Yinzi, did you bring me here to withdraw money?"
"Yes," Lan Yin replied without looking up.
"Can money be hidden in a place like this?" Xie Zhi asked, voicing his doubts.
"Why not?" Lan Yin pointed towards the summit. "The most dangerous place is the safest place. Who would have thought I'd put my money up there?"
"You really put it up there?" Lan Guangxue looked at the towering mountain peak.
“Yes, it’s up there. I had you carry a big bag so you could take all the money with you,” Lan Yin said generously. “I’ll give you an extra thousand yuan for your labor. I don’t trust anyone else with this kind of thing. After all, you’re still my father. It’s only safe if you get the money out for me.”
After Lan Yin said that, Lan Guangxue believed it.
The father and daughter walked along the winding mountain path, with Xie Zhi following behind. However, he dared not walk on the path and instead headed towards areas covered with weeds. He walked with great difficulty, but he was still able to keep up.
Lan Yin is a woman, and her physical strength is not as good as a man's. She walks and stops frequently, which is why Xie Zhi can keep up with their pace.
Upon reaching the mountaintop, Lan Yin handed the water bottle from her bag to Lan Guangxue, who was covered in sweat. "Sit down and have some water first, then we'll get back to work after a rest."
"Still have work to do?" Lan Guangxue took the water bottle and sat on the grass. He was indeed thirsty, so he opened the lid and started drinking.
Lan Yin sat down next to him, quickly stuffed something into his pocket, and then took the water bottle from Lan Guangxue's hand and drank a couple of mouthfuls of water.
Taking advantage of the opportunity to fetch the water bottle, Lan Yin put the suicide note, which she had previously imitated Lan Guangxue's handwriting, into Lan Guangxue's pocket. After putting it in, she even made a gesture to Shi Feng, who was not far away.
