Chapter 129 Helping her apply medicine

Gu Xiaoling stared wide-eyed at Jiang Xue, "I don't know how to do these things."

"Don't worry, you go ahead and do it. Once this order is completed, I'll share the profits with you."

Gu Xiaoling waved her hand shyly, "This is something I never even dared to dream of. I'm already overjoyed with such high wages here, so I'll just forget about the rest."

Jiang Xue looked at Gu Xiaoling meaningfully, "A soldier who doesn't want to be a general isn't a good soldier. Follow me, and you need to be ambitious about money, so that our orders will come one after another."

She stood up and patted Gu Xiaoling on the shoulder, "But sometime we should also set up a company like Hong'an and create our own brand."

Gu Xiaoling watched Jiang Xue's retreating figure, feeling deeply shocked, but also believing that Jiang Xue was just joking. In the countryside, such things were just dreams; to actually achieve them was far more difficult than simply talking about them.

After Gu Xiaoling had arranged everything, the workers all went home.

Jiang Xue tidied up the yard, her back aching.

"Eat first, I'll take care of the rest later."

Jiang Xue was startled by the cold male voice. She turned around and saw that Ji Chen had already placed the steaming hot noodles on the table.

Jiang Xue was eating a simple bowl of egg noodles, but her back seemed to be hurting quite badly.

Ji Chen noticed Jiang Xue's furrowed brows and pained expression. "Are you in pain?"

Jiang Xue lost her appetite, partly because she was in pain, and partly because Ji Chen's cooking wasn't as good as hers. She put down her chopsticks without much of an appetite.

"Shaoheng, you're bringing your sister here to eat. Be careful not to burn yourself," Ji Chen said, getting up to instruct Shaoheng.

I moved Shaomeng, who was sitting on the seat, around a bit. It looked safer, and then I felt at ease.

"Go to your room, I'll apply the medicine for you."

"I'm fine." Jiang Xue knew it was her back that hurt, and she felt a little embarrassed to lift her clothes up in front of Ji Chen like this.

"Auntie, go ahead, it will break my and my sister's hearts if you get hurt." Shao Heng slurped his noodles, his innocent eyes fixed on Jiang Xue.

"You little glutton, do you want to eat your aunt's cooking?" Jiang Xue pinched the mischievous Shao Heng.

She saw that Shaoheng had been eating for quite a while, and the noodles in his bowl hadn't decreased at all. In the past, Shaoheng was always the fastest eater and the one who would clamor to eat first.

"Hehe, Auntie, get well soon. I don't want to eat the noodles Uncle cooked. They're not tasty at all," Shao Heng pouted.

Ji Chen stood to the side, his face as dark as a line. For the first time, he felt as if he were the outsider here.

Seeing that the child had said that, Jiang Xue had no choice but to get up and go back to her room.

"Roll up your sleeves, let me massage your arms first." Ji Chen filled a basin with hot water, took a towel, and put the safflower oil aside.

Jiang Xue didn't seem to feel any pain in her arms; it was mainly her back and stomach that were hurting.

She could rub her stomach herself, but it was really inconvenient for her to rub her back.

Jiang Xue hesitated for a moment before rolling up her sleeves, revealing her two arms, which were so white they were almost transparent.

Ji Chen looked at Jiang Xue's soft, flawless arm, then asked in confusion, "Your injury?"

“On his back.” Jiang Xue stared at Ji Chen with her big, bright eyes.

Ji Chen suddenly felt as if the room had gained an ambiguous atmosphere.

"How about... how about..." Ji Chen was worried that Jiang Xue would mind, but he didn't know how to bring it up.

"Turn your face away. I'll take off my clothes and lie face down on the bed. You can help me apply the medicine." Jiang Xue thought it was fine. Backless dresses were very popular in later generations, and besides, it was just an injury. He could help out, and there was nothing else to it.
