"It seems they went in that direction," the nurse said, pointing to the long corridor ahead.
Jiang Xue quickly thanked her, and carrying Shao Meng, who still had a fever, she anxiously called out "Shao Heng" as she walked.
Jiang Xue was so anxious she felt like she was on fire. She didn't even dare to think about the possibility of a child being kidnapped by a human trafficker.
My vision blurred, and even though my feet were on concrete, it felt like I was stepping on a wad of rotten cotton. I felt increasingly weak.
Jiang Xue was extremely anxious and searched room by room.
"I'm so sorry." Jiang Xue quickly apologized after accidentally stepping on someone's foot in her haste.
Just as I was about to leave, someone suddenly grabbed me, saying, "You've dirtied your leather shoes."
"I'm sorry, my child is lost. I really didn't mean to."
Jiang Xue was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. In later generations, because she was an orphan, she watched many family-finding programs.
In this era of limited information but convenient transportation, Jiang Xue was so anxious she was almost in tears.
"Young lady, don't cry, don't cry, we'll help you find your child." The grumbling uncle, seeing Jiang Xue with tears welling up in her eyes, realized that he had spoken too harshly.
"Come on, little sister, don't worry, I'll help you find it." He said, following behind Jiang Xue and helping her ask around.
"A four or five-year-old boy, right? I'll go upstairs and check on him for you." After saying that, the uncle hurriedly went upstairs.
Jiang Xue is grateful that good people exist everywhere, but bad people also exist even more often.
Jiang Xue continued carrying Shao Meng on her back as she searched for someone. Just as she was about to reach the end of the corridor, she saw Shao Heng sitting in the queue at the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Jiang Xue stepped forward and angrily slapped Shao Heng's butt, "I told you not to run around like that! I told you not to run around like that! What if you get kidnapped?"
Shao Heng remained silent, his head bowed, wiping away his tears.
Jiang Xue knew she hadn't hit him too hard, and Shao Heng's sleeve was probably used to wipe his tears, as it was already soaked.
Is this little brat hiding here crying by himself?
"Your sister is fine. Are you crying here because you're too worried about her?" Jiang Xue gently hugged Shao Meng, who was on her back, and looked at Shao Meng's flushed face.
"Shall we go see a doctor for our little sister first? She seems quite ill." Jiang Xue was extremely anxious and wanted to get Xiao Shaomeng treated first, lest the high fever damage her brain.
Shao Heng obediently wiped away his tears and followed behind Jiang Xue. Just then, Jiang Xue, who had turned back, bumped into the uncle who was helping her find her child.
"Uncle, thank you so much. My child is asking for a beating."
"It's good that you found him. I searched all over the building but couldn't find a child that big. I rushed down here. You should take the little one to the doctor right away."
As soon as he finished speaking, Shaoheng suddenly said, "Mom."
Then he abruptly shook off Jiang Xue's hand and ran straight towards the front gate.
Mom? Could it be that Shao Heng just ran into his mother, Ji Yun, at the OB-GYN?
Holding the feverish Shaomeng, Jiang Xue felt like she wanted to split herself in two. It really wasn't easy for one person to raise two children.
"Go take your child to see a doctor, I'll watch over the child here for you." The uncle generously offered to help Jiang Xue.
Jiang Xue was very wary of strangers, so she quickly shook her head and refused, then handed the child to a passing nurse.
"Help the child bring down their fever first."
