"You should put it away."
"I'll accept it?" Jiang Xue's eyes widened, somewhat confused.
"Of course, you took it, it was to redeem yours, and now it's been redeemed, isn't it?" Ji Chen said before walking towards the kitchen.
Jiang Xue quickly called out to Ji Chen, "This is your money, I can't take it."
Although Jiang Xue knew that Ji Chen had handed over his wages before, she found it hard to believe that Ji Chen had come up with so much money all at once after only a few months. However, she had personally visited Ji Chen's small company last time.
This guy is a man of action, and with the rapid development of the real estate industry in the future, Ji Chen might even become a big shot in the industry.
"What's mine is yours," Ji Chen said coldly, then turned and left.
Faced with Ji Chen's confident tone, Jiang Xue's heart trembled.
She limped as she handed over the money and carefully put it away, thinking she would deposit it in the bank later, or give it to Ji Chen whenever he needed it. After all, it was an engineering project, and all she needed was cash flow.
Jiang Xue, limping, was about to rush to the kitchen to do something when she saw Ji Chen make a makeshift crutch out of wood before she even stepped out the door.
Ji Chen, who had been gesturing over there, saw Jiang Xue arrive and quickly put down the knife in his hand, then went to greet her with his cane.
"Didn't I tell you to sit there and not move?" Although he scolded her, he still placed his cane under Jiang Xue's shoulder and helped her up.
Jiang Xue was amused by Ji Chen's honesty. "My injury isn't serious, it's just a superficial wound."
Ji Chen looked at Jiang Xue's pale lips and was furious. "A superficial wound? A superficial wound is just excessive blood loss?"
Jiang Xue pursed her lips shyly, "Oh, I know, let's cook, otherwise the two kids will be hungry."
Ji Chen helped Jiang Xue to the kitchen, and the two children sat facing each other on the bluestone slab.
At Jiang Xue's instruction, Ji Chen prepared some black sesame seeds, roasted them at the supermarket, and put them in a stone mortar.
Jiang Xue ground black sesame seeds, and Ji Chen followed Jiang Xue's instructions to mix glutinous rice flour. Using hot water to mix the flour scalded Ji Chen quite badly.
"Can't cold water work? Why insist on using hot water?"
Seeing that he was burning up, Jiang Xue said, "If cold water could fix it, why would I want to harm you?"
"Indeed, I doubt you would dare to harm your own husband."
Jiang Xue's cheeks flushed instantly after Ji Chen said that.
"Here you go, I've finished." Jiang Xue sat by the stove and handed the black sesame seeds to Ji Chen. "Add some sugar to the sesame powder and mix it in."
Ji Chen clumsily followed Jiang Xue's instructions, and his flustered appearance made Jiang Xue laugh.
"I'll do it."
Jiang Xue couldn't stand it anymore. Ji Chen had never even made steamed buns before, how could he possibly make glutinous rice balls?
"I'll learn from you. If you want to eat it again next time, I'll know how."
Although Ji Chen spoke modestly, there was still a hint of confidence in his voice.
Jiang Xue added a small pinch of kneaded glutinous rice flour, rolled it into a ball, flattened it, added a spoonful of black sesame seeds, and then twisted the unformed glutinous rice ball in her nimble fingers, kneaded it a couple more times, and a plump white glutinous rice ball was ready.
Shao Heng watched from the side and exclaimed, "Wow, Auntie, you're amazing!"
Ji Chen retorted, unconvinced, "Isn't your uncle powerful enough?"
Shao Heng saw that the white rice flour in his hand had been wrapped into sesame rice cakes. "Uncle, you're so amazing! You made me rice cakes that we can only eat during the New Year."
