Jiang Xue held Shao Meng in her arms, not even bothering to glance at her; there wasn't a courtyard big enough for her.

Xie Xiaotian's face turned green with anger, and she gritted her teeth. "Ji Dong, you just wait."
Jiang Xue could tell that their relationship was not good. She had tried to persuade them before, but they didn't appreciate it and ended up reaping what they sowed.
Jiang Xue called Gu Xiaoling over, "How's it going now?"
"It should be finished in about one more day, tomorrow." Gu Xiaoling stopped what she was doing.
He pressed further, "After we finish our work in a day, are we all going home?"
Jiang Xue shook her head. "Choose two of the best workers to stay and have them help us make some cotton socks and shoes."
Jiang Xue asked thoughtfully, "Is your home far from the city?"
Gu Xiaoling nodded. "Our village is further in, it's about a two-hour round trip. Is there something you need me to do in the city?"
“Yes,” Jiang Xue replied without hesitation. After a moment’s thought, she said, “How about you come to the city with me every day? You can help me watch the shop, and I’ll teach you how to do business. Also, you don’t have to come back at night; I’ll take you to stay at my place.”
Gu Xiaoling's eyes lit up. "Really?"
But soon the mood soured. "Your family lives over there, it's not convenient for me to go and stay there."
"It's okay, don't worry about anything else, just tell me whether you're willing to go or not."
Gu Xiaoling nodded repeatedly.
"Okay, since it's settled then, let's make some socks, and I'll take them to the factory to sell tomorrow."
"Then I'll leave Shaoheng and Shaomeng at the shop. Could you keep an eye on them for me?" Jiang Xue instructed casually.
Xie Xiaotian suddenly jumped out and said, "Jiang Xue, you guys don't plant those vegetable plots behind you, so I will. Anyway, it's the old woman's fault if she dies."
"No!" Jiang Xue jumped three feet high as if she had heard something.
