Chapter 14 Suspects the two men are human traffickers

The next morning.

He Yushen went to help someone with their work again.

He would make steamed buns and cook porridge for people in the morning, and with a simple smile on his face, he would call out to them. He could even make some women laugh, and they would all be willing to spend money to buy his porridge.

After he sold out of breakfast from his cart, he collected the money and gave it to the staff. They smiled and gave him two yuan, along with some leftover porridge and vegetables.

He Yushen smiled and accepted it, not daring to drink a single drop, giving it all to Sheng Yueqing.

Sheng Yueqing saw it all and felt grateful.

She still ate only until she was about 60% full, and gave him the rest.

He Yushen finished his meal in one gulp, then left her to play in the carriage while he went to unload goods.

Sheng Yueqing didn't know what he was moving, so she followed him to see.

I saw him carrying several heavy sacks of wheat by himself, his shoulders bent under the weight.

While others carried one bag, he carried three.

And it never stops.

No wonder the staff were willing to use him; he was efficient and very stable.

Sheng Yueqing saw that sweat was constantly flowing from his forehead, and that the veins on his temples were bulging due to his weight.

But he gritted his teeth and endured it, carrying bag after bag.

Sheng Yueqing felt a pang of sadness.

A sense of guilt arose spontaneously.

In his past life, he was a quiet, reserved person who didn't dare to get too close to her, but he always gave her money.

At the time, he only told her that he was going to work as a porter, with daily wages.

I never expected that moving such heavy objects would be so difficult; my body was bent under the weight.

Sheng Yueqing felt a lump in her throat.

This big, clumsy guy endures all the hardships by himself.

She watched from the side, and after he finished moving the items, she looked at him with tears streaming down her face.

He Yushen was startled.

"Wife? Why are you crying? Who bullied you?"

He thought someone was bullying her, his brow furrowed, and he was about to rush in and fight.

Sheng Yueqing grabbed him, "No one is bullying me."

"It's because I don't want to see you working so hard."

He Yu breathed a sigh of relief; so that was why.

He held Sheng Yueqing's hand and coaxed her gently, "Being a porter is the easiest job. It can be done in no time, and the money comes quickly. It's not hard work."

"Look, this is what they gave me."

He then gave Sheng Yueqing another five yuan.

Sheng Yueqing felt a pang of sadness. "Don't do this anymore. Your back is bent from all the pressure."

He Yushen felt her care for him, and his heart was filled with sweetness.

"Okay, then I'll move less in the future."

He still felt that moving work was a quick way to earn money and that he wouldn't be owed wages, which would be a good opportunity to save money for his wife to open a shop.

Sheng Yueqing pulled him back to the carriage and applied some safflower oil to his skin.

She traded this safflower oil with the shop owner using herbs, hoping that He Yushen could use it.

She massaged He Yushen's shoulders, and He Yushen's brows relaxed comfortably.

Then I stopped her from pressing it, afraid that her hand would get tired.

The widow on the upper bunk looked on with envy.

"Are you two newlyweds?"

They're only this sweet when they're newlyweds.

He Yushen didn't understand the deeper meaning and happily replied, "Yes, we just got married, we're husband and wife."

He even added the phrase "husband and wife," as if afraid people wouldn't know that Sheng Yueqing was his wife.

The passengers sitting in the aisle all laughed, probably thinking that the newlyweds were indeed very sweet.

Meanwhile, the two men in the carriage were sizing up Sheng Yueqing with calculating eyes.

As soon as Sheng Yueqing looked up, she met the sinister gazes of two men.

Although we've been in the same carriage for the past two days without incident, people's eyes don't lie.

Sheng Yueqing could clearly sense that the two people had a somewhat sinister appearance, as if they had done bad things.

I wonder if they might be human traffickers?

He Yushen also noticed it.

He'll arrive in Shanghai tomorrow, and things will get chaotic as soon as he gets off the train, so he needs to keep a close eye on his wife.

He glanced at the two men.

Unexpectedly, the two men were also sizing them up, their eyes occasionally glancing at Sheng Yueqing on the lower bunk.

He Yushen was on high alert. He pulled Sheng Yueqing up and led her directly to the staff's carriage.

He shared his concerns with the staff.

The staff member was still skeptical. "Really? I remember those two people. They've been on the train for three or four days now, and they've been very well-behaved the whole time."

He Yushen was still worried. "How about we spend the night here?"

No need to sleep on a bunk; I can lie right outside the door. At least I feel more at ease being with the staff.

The staff member was both amused and exasperated, but remembering how much he had helped them over the past few days, they agreed.

"Okay, then you and your wife can make do in our corridor for the night."

He Yushen immediately went back to get his luggage and blankets.

The two men frowned when they saw him taking something and asked, "Where are you going?"

He Yushen played a clever trick, "If we get off the bus tomorrow and go to the entrance early, we can be the first to get off."

With that, he took the things and left.

The two men exchanged a glance, watched him walk away, and then went outside to discuss their plan.

"That big oaf probably suspects us. Are they going to arrest his wife too?"

"Let's not arrest him. He's so obsessed with his wife; arresting him would only make things worse."

"Let's capture that widow; with her two children, she can fetch a good price."

There weren't many brothers with them this time, only four or five.

Although he had already identified his prey, in order to avoid attracting attention, he could only make his move when there was a lot of people getting off the bus and things were chaotic.

Sheng Yueqing was their prey whom they had long ago set their sights on.

The woman was strikingly beautiful; despite wearing coarse gray clothes, her slender yet voluptuous figure was undeniable.

With her snow-white skin, seemingly immune to tanning, even a simple updo makes her look like someone who stepped out of a painting.

Such good goods can fetch a lot of money.

Even after marriage, it remains a favorite among many buyers.
